    Have an N-Tec 1.6 auto in identical colour, mine for last 11 years. Brilliant car, roomy, comfortable and never missed a beat. Ideal for town and long-distance driving. Just run up 60k and only had to replace battery, brake pads, tyres and a front spring.
    Not only did the car look familiar, the test drive along Enfield Highway was right where we lived when down south!

    Great review. I had a 2010 1.6 Tekna auto Note, great car. When it was written off in a crash recently I replaced it with the exact same model (2009), only 31k on the clock. This era of the auto is a reliable torque-converter, but I've heard that post-2013 a less reliable CVT transmission was used.

    I’ve driven a 2007 SE Note for a year: almost faultless - feels a little like a bouncy soft Renault 4 or 6 (remember those 5-door pioneers)! So spacious, great capacity, responsive engine, too.

    At least, they give you a spare tyre, in the Note. The Note's French sister (Modus) doesen't even have a spare. At least, not in the boot. The Note is also more practically laid out. All of the buttons and switches are where you would expect them to be and the intrument pod is located directly in front of the driver, unlike the annoying digital instruments of the Modus of which are located in the centre.
    The Note's interior materials also appear to be of higher quality, compared to the Modus's cheap plastic.
    What's disappointing on the Note, however, are the standard features of which are options on the Renault. If I just wanted a standard Note without power windows and air conditioning, I would have no choice, except to buy the car that way. Those options also add weight to the car, to the detriment of fuel milage

    I own a 2011 Note, parts are cheap and its economical but cup holders are not practical, you cannot fit a monster can and also a redbull can keep falling and spilling, you have to get your own after market cup holders

    • @sutsi
      @sutsi  8 місяців тому

      Very strange I know, but back then nissan still had a bit more autonomy, unlike these days. Look at the Renault modus, of the same era, those are total garbage but both based on similar underpinnings

      @@sutsiHi! It seems I was wrong: my Nissan Note from 2006. was assembled in 2006. in UK! Its VIN starts with SJNF, and later U, which indicates UK.

    I have a 2007 1.6 petrol Tekna. I think even with the Tekna that options of extras were different because mine doesn't seem to be as high tech as yours such as the entertainment unit. Also I really don't like the half leather seats. They're fine in winter but in summer that half moon of leather at the bottom of the seat makes my lower back sweat. Everyone I have had in the car have also complained about the same thing.

      This is the facelift version which came out from 2009. Yours is the first edition which didn't have the sat nav screen. Yes I know what you mean about the leather (well fake leather) seats.

    Just found your channel and subscribed ! I like how you concentrate on small autos, and I have had my Note 12 years now with no mechanical trouble and only the aircon has stopped working...re-gas didn't help so not really sure where to go from here. I am thinking of swapping so have looked at your other recommendations, especially Kia Venga - how do you think they compare to the Note, particularly the auto box and reliability ? On the other hand, I may just get a lower mileage late-reg Note....mmm decisions...

    • @sutsi
      @sutsi  Рік тому

      Hi, thank you for your kind words. For your air con issue.. I've had this happen quite a lot, it's age related or simply you got unlucky and a stone has hit the condensor. To resolve it, I changed the "condenser radiator" and that usually fixed the problem - usually about £250/300 job including parts and re-gas. Any good garage should be able to pin point it for you. You can also check the compressor, when you press the air con button, along with the other pulleys, at the bottom the compressor wheel should start spinning.
      The Kia Venga and the Hyundai ix20 are excellent cars. The 2014 onwards newer shape nissan notes weren't as reliable as this older model Note.

    "When Nissan used to be a Nissan and not a glorified Renault". The Note is based on a Renault Modus...

    • @sutsi
      @sutsi  3 роки тому +2

      Yes the chassis underpinnings were shared with modus...but this was the last period where nissan had autonomy over the quality control of the running gear, construction...hence why they're more robust than modus and why since the mk3 they just haven't been as reliable as before ..as the manufacturing and parts were homogonised with Renault taking the lead

    hi, i know nothing about nissans ever since the renault merge.
    Ive only ever driven a toyota. how does the reliability compare to a toyota/honda?
    is the engine chain driven? Are their petrols decent?
    Thank you for your time

    • @sutsi
      @sutsi  2 роки тому +3

      Hi, yes it's chain driven. The Mk1 Toyota Yaris 1.3 CVT (1999-2005) is rock solid reliability wise (see my review on it). 2005-2011 MK2 Yaris in UK only came in semi auto MMT gearbox, it is total rubbish, the manual is fine though and very reliable. 2011 onwards the Yaris reverted to CVT transmission, which was more reliable. The Honda Jazz, it's not as reliable as the Mk1 Yaris but is more practical like the Note. It's more reliable just than the note but driving dynamics Note is more grown up. With Jazz the CVT transmission needs gearbox oil change every 40k miles/4years (see my video it's easy). The Mk1 jazz (2003-2009) is a target for catalytic converter thieves. The Mk1 1999-2002 (made in Japan) Yaris is also a target for catalytic converter thieves. The 2003-2005 french built one is fine as catalytic converter is harder to reach as its closer to the engine bay. Japanese built Yaris is however better built and more fun to drive.
