      Hi there. Yes indeed. It's amazing how many channels he's helped out. I'm really happy with these 2 and also the G6-01 he already got me. What a top bloke. Many thanks for watching and your great comments 😀

    Thanks for doing the side by side walk through of the kits! I have the blockhead version but still want the original version as it looks really fantastic as well! RC Elf s an amazing person and to send you both is awesome! He is truly the most selfless person I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to! looking forward to seeing them built and running about!!! Congrats again and thanks for sharing!

      Hiya Addam. Yes I'm well pleased with these kits. What a top bloke the RC elf is. I very much look forward to building them. I'm not quite as efficient as you are at getting things done so it might be a while. Many thanks for your support. Best wishes to you and yours 😁

    Brilliant comparison, Pete! Very handy. I like them both. Wibbly and wobbly. Uhhh … changing out your brushless motor/ESC? Wylie without Absima? Like wibbly without wobbly. Blasphemy 😉

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому

      Ha, oh well I'll see how that Absima set goes then but I've had a couple of the Razer Ten ones and they are good. I'll keep buying Absima if it makes you happy mate 🙂 Anyway it seems at the moment that it's difficult to get the original version Wild One but everyone has got the Blockhead in stock. I'm sure they will be back if you did want one. Many thanks for watching the vid and your amusing comments mate. Happy Sunday to you 🙂

      Yeah I think that the standard version looks great and you get the choice of what colour to paint it. The Blockhead is good for Tamiya fans who like a special edition. Many thanks indeed for watching 😁

  • @madsrcbuggy

    Cool comparison video! I think for the price difference, I would go for the standard version, and the fact I would want to paint it own colours. But I'm still behind with my FAV project, so probably not getting any of these anytime soon.
    Fun hearing your take on these, one tube was more wibbly and the other a bit more wobbly, ha ha!

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому

      Hi there. Oh yeah the FAV has got quite a bit of paint to do depending on what you are doing. The re-re one I have with the Wild One shocks runs well. Yes I think if it wasn't for the elf kindly getting me these I would have just got the original version as much better value. I'm in one of those situations where I've got so many projects that I don't know which one to do next. Many thanks indeed for watching and your support as ever. Best wishes 😁

    I had the original Wild One as a teenager back in the late 80’s, it’s in the loft as I could never throw it out (to many memories of building and driving it with my school friends who had things like the boomerang & grasshopper).

    Interesting comparison Pete, I'm still looking for a softer shock option for the rear on mine as the ones in the kit are mega stiff. Thats about the only thing I don't like on the Wild One. Great Vid as always mate. 👍

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому

      Hi Simon. Yeah there must be a shock with a longer spring that would fit in there. I was just looking at my FAV with the Wild One shocks and it seems ok although not loads of travel. I'm keeping the Wild One shocks stock as it's just how things were back in the day. Many thanks for watching mate 😁

    Hi Pete, a great side by side comparison of both versions of the WildOne’s, what with the more pungent tires on the standard version, but the slight difference with the plastic components for the Blockhead and being pre-painted a great pair of WildOnes’s ( oh err ! ). Good tip with the Razor Ten setup too. I think I would be more than happy with the original version for me 😉😁😊maybe one day. Great comparison. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😉😁😊

      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому +1

      Hiya John. Oh yes a lovely pair indeed! The original certainly gives better value and that's the one I'm going to knock around a bit more (in a respectful way). Hiya Pete! Sorry I'm late, I did watch this on my phone already but can't type well on that! Haha, can't type well on the PC keyboard, either! Great idea to do a side by side "dual" unboxing and comparison. Very interesting and expertly presented with just a tiny bit of your senso of humour poking out! For the record, you know I'm very fond of the wibbly and wobbly in partnership.
    All credit to the amazing RC Elf chap, now you got your cake and can eat it! What a very fine pair you have. Out of the two I think I would choose the BM version if I could only own one of them. But even better to have that and put your own spin on the original version. I must say I do like a bit of gunmetal.
    Hope all is well with you, I'm just enjoying another Sunday, on Monday! Cheers, mate! 😁✌👍

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому +1

      Hiya Mark. Ah right, you know I actually find it easier to type on my phone because it usually knows what word comes next. Anyway yes I thought it would be good to see exactly what you are getting extra in the Blockhead. The new price of £249 is a bit cheeky I think. Luckily Modelsport kept the price from when I ordered it. Do you remember the price of the original version when you got it? I'm thinking it was only about £160 at the time. Everything is getting rather expensive at the mo. Would you still have the Blockhead over the standard one at current prices? Anyway hoorah for the elf sorting us all out with these great kits. All good here thanks. I'm still well jealous of all your spare time. Enjoy it mate. Best wishes 😃

    Hi Pete, great comparison. Really fancy a blockhead and thankfully they don't seem to be a limited run . I was surprised the front bumper wasn't grey like the roll cage though as the Jun Watanabe got a purple version. Thanks for the tyre-sniff, shame the blockhead didn't have its own scent though 🤷‍♂️

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there. Yeah for the money I think that they could have put the metal bumper in that they put on the prototype. Not a Tamiya product but I'm sure they could have made something similar. Oh yes they could have given the Blockhead tyres a special fragrance as Tamiya fans love a sniff! Many thanks indeed for your support. Always appreciated 😁

      Hi there. Ah well what happened with mine was that the elf sent the money and I ordered them from Modelsport in sept 21. The standard one arrived march 22 and the Blockhead arrived June 22 so it was quite a wait. I'll let you know if I see the standard one in stock. Are you in the UK?

      Ooh you are eagle eyed mate. Maybe there is a difference after all. Might be that the screws to put the spotlights together are different or it's the ones to attach the numbers to the back. I will possibly find out when I do the builds. Oh wobbly all the way for me. You?

    Tamiya do make iconic design and great looking RC, but the prices are just ridiculous IMO, so many other brands are offering far more for far less, I think they are going to price themselves out the market overall, thanks for your upload 👍🙏🐈

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there. Yeah I think that the standard Wild One was about £150 add not many years ago and that was not too bad but now the Blockhead one being £250 is taking the micky a bit. I was going to compare it to the Kyosho Turbo Scorpion which is similar money but nearly all metal parts but I didn't want the video to drag on too much. I'm very grateful to the Elf because I really wanted at least one of these but the price was just a bit steep. I think that Tamiya will be ok for a few years because there are plenty of middle aged blokes who want the kits they had as teenagers and they are willing to pay. Might be a different story in 30 years but for now they can cash in on the nostalgia! Cheers for your great comments 🙂
