I learned to skate as a young kiddo. I was on speed clubs indoors, and we only ever learned to turn left. First on quads in the 1970's, then inlines in the late 1980's. Now I am getting older and have taken up outdoor inline skating. Suddenly it is very important to be able to handle right turns, and it is the most awkward thing in the world for me. I crossover to the left like a pro without even thinking about it, but turning right with any serious amount of speed is just clumsy and awkward. Seeing this made me realize that it's been so long since I learned the first time, that I had forgotten about all of those fundamental exercises and drills. At 54 years old I will finally learn to cross over to the right! Heading for a big empty parking lot with some small cones (and wrist guards) on my next day off! Thanks Francisco!
cool. I haven't had the chance to use inlines recently so i am learning how to cross over with quads. I guess it might be easier to cross over with the inlines now.
You need to get on you'r edges more on circle drills.! Also when your going into the pillon your butt should be over the pillon " get your butt into it" as my coach says. just some friendly tips :)
@MultiCrazycatman I rollerblade as well and from experience I tell you don't try advanced maneuvers like this ur first 5 or 6 times out learn basics and have someone like an instructor help you and spot you. I started 3 years ago and now rollerblading feels awesome but don't rush it
Skaters should land on the left edge of both skates to start. I noticed when your skaters walked through the cross overs they landed on top of their skates. A new skater watching this might get the wrong idea. I came from quads and then learned/taught turning on inlines and had some success you could say in speedskating eventhough I was 30 before I put inlines on. I now primarily coach hockey skaters who really could care less about refining their corners but I somehow perform miracles...lol
Learned this on my first night to the local rink with the shitty old school quads... Was a rush because I almost fell a couple times! If you're a fast learner and decent with balancing then this or anything with skating won't be an issue
Another point.....lol Often skaters think that they have to push backward to go forward. On inline skates you push sideways to go forward. Of course I coach to first push down then sideways but the main issue is getting a skater to push sideways. In a cross over their feet are almost side by side after they cross over....... Of course there's a lot of exaggerating....
Why do you cut the video so much at the end....that was like the most important part....and you wouldnt let it just play through! SOOOOO hard to learn when a video does that.
It looks like you know what you are doing and you seem to know how to edit but the video was very hard to learn from. There are little basics you leave out that you could have easily added in as well as not cut up the video as someone else mentioned. I see you showing the inside edge and outside edge but thats basically correct going straight. When you turn left, your inside edge is the left edge of both skates. I think thats the most important thing to teach people. continued
