I seen from head to tail 6ft 300lb mountain lion in Yosemite. I was in my car. It look like a horse. I never go in the woods with out protection.
Communist California will not allow open carry for law-abiding citizens. If these boys had carried pistols, one would be alive today. Blame the anti-gun bureaucrats like Newsom for this tragedy.

I have had several encounters with mountain lions. They seem to just run away. An attack in the daytime is scary AF. Must have been hungry, sick or protecting kittens I guess..
I hope you carry a heavy staff and strong pepper spray. Too bad CA will not allow open carry in dangerous areas.

So the lion attacked the younger brother and the older brother jumped in to save the younger. The lion then ditched the younger for the older. And the younger left the scene to find help leaving his brother with a lion?? Well that was smart because the lion would have killed them both.

This is what happens when there is no forest management… wildfires have decimated remote habitat and territories, so wildlife is moving into the unburned areas, which happen to be closer and closer to human habitation… this is directly related to California mismanagement of forests…

As proud American citizens when stepping into the wilderness you should always carry firearms.
This is what happens when the ML is a protected species in CA, but the citizens aren't.
"This" ( fatal Mtn. Lion attacks ) have only happened a handul of times in the last 100 years. Dogs kill 30-50 people a year. We donlt need more hunting, we need less people encroaching on wildlife habitat.
The "citizens" should use common sense. Wild animals live in the wild and hunt for their food. Any meat will do. They don't discriminate when it comes to dinnertime.

Living in the high country of Idaho, this is are apex predator. Bears and Wolfs are very dangerous. But somewhat predictable. These large cats come in all sizes and weights and I have seen them in groups of up to 4. Making yourself big or yelling and screaming is not going to make them go away. Running is a death sentence. Warning shots will not make them back off. I’ve had only one up close and personal encounter on my property with a mid-size Mountain Lion. I remained perfectly still and looked at it directly into its eyes. For some reason on this occasion, I was lucky and he walked away. These cats are simply fearless. Never and I mean never go into the woods alone and unarmed. No body wants to shoot one of these beautiful cats. Being armed is a last resort. They are very strong and powerful, this is no bobcat. If they can get ahold of you, you’re probably not going to make it.
