The vulcan fire does not do nothing. The pilot still feels the impact of the bullets, and Zaku IIs have been destroyed before by taking prolonged fire from the Gundam's vulcans.
The vulcans CAN actually damage Zaku IIs, because they're only made out of a reinforced steel armor and those are 60mm rotary cannons; vulcans and small to moderate arms fire (up to around 120mm shells, and 150mm rockets) are effectively useless against the Gundam's luna titanium armor.
The Zaku has less durable armor enough for it to be damaged or even the entire MS itself will get destroyed which did happen in the original show. Heck, vulcans are still incredibly powerful in CCA as we see Amuro still using it to great effect and Hathaway too to boot in a Jegan.

You can actually see the regular MS-06 getting whack by GM's in this series. also as confirmed by the author this is not an alternate timeline similar to thunderbolt, all UC animes are canon to each other, you may see some different stuff that's simply because they wanted to improve some narrative of the entire story. This has been a common practice for japanese authors.

Cucuruz Doan's Island as well is its own thing too even though it takes a lot from the Origin which they even confirmed that it isn't set in that universe but if you want you think that way then you can.

It's basically a remake of an episode of the original series which everybody in the production team kinda hated for how terrible it turned out (it was bad enough that it was omitted from most reruns and all international releases) due to a combination of factors. This is them going "hey, let's do it right this time around".
60mm is a smaller calibre compared to ordinary mobile suit weapons which is from 90mm - 120mm Guns or a 180mm Cannon. The 60mm is suited for anti-personnel and Anti-Air. Although, it can damage some components of a mobile suit.
Anime is Mobile Suit: Gundam, though this fight in particular is from the 2022 film Cucuruz Doan's Island which is remake of episode 15, season 1 of the anime back in 1979 which also used the same name for said episode.

You expect logic from a franchise where 15 to 18m robots move like athletes? Even in the more "grounded" shows like 08th MS Team, it is impossible logically speaking for a robot that tall to even move properly.
Technically impressive, but dull and lifeless. CGI robots just can't hold up to the craftsmanship of hand-drawn animation. It's a shame to see the Gundam franchise lose that creative spark.

ドラマ的な演出が過ぎていて、安彦版は富野御大のガンダムとはまったくの別物なのだというのがよく分かる。バルカンがあれだけ当たっていてほぼダメージを与えられていないのがおかしいし、こんな大げさな演出はやらないだろうと思える。
