Awesome! Thanks for doing this. As soon as I first heard about the Osmo Pocket I wanted to strap it to a racing drone. Glad to see you trying it! Our hobby needs this - not for racing, but once we work out the bugs it will make for some epic cinematic footage!
Bummer Jordan. I know that feeling when you go out excited to try something new and it’s either a total bust or doesn’t go as you had hoped. Hopefully the next iteration works better for you!
I like the idea & was waiting to see what you came up with. Great combo for a gimbal on an fpv drone at a reasonable upgrade cost... I guess. Thumbs up, buddy! OHSHT damn ran it into a tree immediately after you said that! >< Hope the next test sesh goes well!
with the new DJI FPV system...I bet DJI is exactly doing what you say...create a "mavic" style drone that has FPV quad flight characteristics. Basically an FPV/cinema quad. Very cool if they do.
Nice to see the weight and size of the gimbals coming down it won't be long until they have it integrated with the transmitter for adjusting in mid flight for mini quads. Or will 8k 360 cams with stabilizing software get ahead of gimbals? It is all very interesting.
I'm trying this same thing 😂 I'm getting the same problem with the jumpping in and out footage. I got the wifi adapter so I can control the osmo remotely. You gonna pick it up?
Def was curious how this would turn out! 3:17 was a pretty sick shot. Dang, gotta love when you get so excited to fly you forget to screw on the antenna lol
Excited to see what you can come up with. I bet if DJI throws some software together specifically for racing drones it would work flawlessly. I wonder how much you can tweak that thing to do exactly that out of the box.
Nice, try to mount the gimbal centered under the quad, so the vibrations have less lever length. Or the lens centered above the lipo if you want to look up. Greetings
Damn you. This will work really well on my forwards/backwards cheaterkwad for correcting for camera tilt on a gopro mount that is meant to match forward flight FPV cam.
The gimbal is designed to perform best when the grip is vertical, the shakiness you're getting might be caused by this, hence why the gimbals on the Mavic and Phantoms etc. are mounted vertical to access full range of motion, awesome test though to see what it can do!
With a bit of soft mounting it seems like this is a pretty good option, though I think you could also play around with 360 footage and make it look similar
Can you try 1) fpv mode, 2) any camera tilt lock to an angle 3) can your quad mount lipo at bottom and dji pocket on the top 4) what frame is that ? Tq
The first clip in the field is FPV mode, You set the pitch angle by manually moving it with your fingers and then it "stays". Problem with mounting on top was my FPV camera would be looking straight at it. Im making a mount to mount it on top tho
So you've found a photography project that will involve drones and (probably) 3D printing... it's like the center of a Venn diagram of things that Jordan likes :D
@@JordanTemkin Exactly. I think what you got from this testing was super valuable. Im sure this will help you get a better idea of what you need to do to get the best results from this idea. I cant wait to see what you can get from it.
Ours arrived a few days ago. It suffered total failure after minutes. Customer service seems to be almost none existent. Looks like its for the trash. Pity as it looked like it had great potential. :-(
@@ThrottleAddiction Sure, but what I'm saying is, no need to worry if you don't have the antenna on for a minute or two. Ive had mine powered on in my backpack with the antenna off at 500mw on an hour long drive home before (Not saying thats okay to do). Thing was hot as hell when I pulled it out...That was like 2 years ago. Still works perfectly fine. A minute here and there is nothing to worry about. People generally scream bloody murder if you ever leave the antenna off. Im just trying to spread awareness that, at least with TBS products, youll be fine.
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to do this
Minutes after release, I was already on the way to the field to fly it lol
*We talk UAV* did it about 2 weeks ago with the Osmo Pocket on a Mavic 2
Mavics are dead ! i got this idea when i firstly see this in Casey nestiats vid !
damned right would be crazy not too!!! :-)
if you can get the vibs figured out that was some seriously silk smooth video!
@@JordanTemkin
I got into drones a week ago and now I'm here...
Awesome! Thanks for doing this. As soon as I first heard about the Osmo Pocket I wanted to strap it to a racing drone. Glad to see you trying it! Our hobby needs this - not for racing, but once we work out the bugs it will make for some epic cinematic footage!
We need a petition for DJI to make a diy quad version of it, with isolated mounting and external power and control, and analog video output.
Yes it's called a mavic🤦😂
Tracking feature would be pretty neat for orbits. Cool stuff man. 🙂✌️
I wanted to see you do a flip
noahrocks11now and dvr to see the effect better
it needs a rubber mount same as a gopro.
have been waiting on small gimbals too, can't wait to strap it to a wing. thanks for the tests!
Good effort for that dude, footage looked really good tbf. Amazing spot again too man! :)
Moongel is a great way dampen out vibrations to the camera
You rock dude. Always enjoy it flying, ur designs and all around ur devotion to this hobby. Don't ever change my friend u rock.
I was wondering what this would look like! Great gimble for cinema work
As soon as i saw this i thought needs to be put on a fpv drone!!!!
NICE FLYING
👍😀👍
I Laugh so much for the last test! I wanted to see the result.
Hello. How did you solve the problem with UA-cam 360p? I have the same problem and I do not know how to solve it ...
Bummer Jordan. I know that feeling when you go out excited to try something new and it’s either a total bust or doesn’t go as you had hoped. Hopefully the next iteration works better for you!
I think the 4k footage yielded was pretty darn good for maiden flights
Have you tried flipping the camera the other way? Looks like the camera is not dropping freely as it sits on top of the back plate.
They sell the spark and mavic camera housing and gimbals separately as far as i know
Yes, but theres not a way of hooking it up to a separate recorder as far as I know.
I like the idea & was waiting to see what you came up with. Great combo for a gimbal on an fpv drone at a reasonable upgrade cost... I guess. Thumbs up, buddy! OHSHT damn ran it into a tree immediately after you said that! >< Hope the next test sesh goes well!
might just throw one of these Pockets onto my 5" quad. thanks!
Didn't you fry the TX when you run it without the antenna? If i did that, mine would burn for sure... :)
What battery packs you use on your 7 inch quad?
Hey buddy, it’s time to come back. Pocket 3 finally usable especially indoors 😎

informative is the word ur lookin for brotha
I bet the key for 100% pristine footage is some sort of soft mounting system like the Mavic gimbal has. Thanks for trying this

I'd love to just kick it and hang out with you and nurk and steele one day. Some of the realist pilots out there. Plus I love Colorado.
Great start, definitely something there
Thanks Jordan. I wanted to check something like that.
Absolutely love your stuff man Can't wait to see how this works out. What FPV cam were you running on the Super G the lens looked giant?
Yes this is what i was waiting for. No problem
I'm trying this same thing 😂

It needs dampeners and something to mount the dampeners in between the drone and gimbal
im planning to put one on my 5" Chameleon, is your quad 6" or 7" ?

that was awesome I have to get one for my quad
Cool stuffs as always man! What's that thing attached on top of battery? it's a GPS?
Really wanted to see that last shot! bummer about the failsafe.
Is that a GPS antenna on your lipo strap? Good idea.
Where are these mountains? Looks really beautiful there. :)
This is in Washington state :)

Nice to try! What is your long range setup?
Nice work and good job.
I'm betting the next DJI Mavic Air or spark would have a similar design like the karma
So you've found a photography project that will involve drones and (probably) 3D printing... it's like the center of a Venn diagram of things that Jordan likes :D
Can you post links or names to your LR setup
is this off ofI90?
Thx for trying this thank you sincerely 🙏🏿😎
The ride is nice but i would love to see how it reacts in a more chalenging flight.
More Super G+ stock pls 😭 Every time I look at my XL7 hanging on the wall I'm reminded how much I want to rebuild it.
You created a racing spark. It does need a rubber mount tho
Is the Crossfire burnt?
Ok... but if you already fly slow and steady what’s the point of a gimbal ? 350 is a bit much for a camera...but hey.
i had idea for that but on a cinewhoop, youshould solve the problem of vibrations first, before using this on a drone
Boomer. Can you tell us more about your gear. What frame are you flying? Where can we get it from? Tell us about your motors, esc etc. thx
Super G Plus 7" frame
Actually this looks more realistic than a drone footage. Just felt like I was watching Harry Potter Series 😂
Think I'd prefer to strap a 5.8ghz fpv backpack on a Mavic.
Very informative video Jet!!
Apparently Salomon makes puffies??
While smooth, lots of vibration. Maybe a better mount would help. Great effort.
bummer! hope we can figure this out!
I wonder if it can help take the waggle out of a wing footage?
Maybe! Never know till ya try it

My Osmo Pocket has problems staying parallel to the horizon even after calibration🧐
This needs to be tested on a race track, to see this kind of footage I would rather search for mavic videos.
Follow shots with another quad would be cool with the tracking feature.
I think mounting the Osmo vertical would yield nicer video , since it's designed to be held vertical
I think so too, am going to draw up a file that can do that.
Yo! Try a jello plate, also I have some tips in my video also for fast flying
is there a phone app to control it remotely?
Theres a camera app to control it, but it has to be plugged in
You should look into mounting a Insta360 X One or a Rylo
I feel it is like more cinematic than GoPro.
Ours arrived a few days ago. It suffered total failure after minutes. Customer service seems to be almost none existent. Looks like its for the trash. Pity as it looked like it had great potential. :-(
That sucks! Mines already taken a few crashes, and even one head on into a tree. It looks beat up but still works perfectly
you should try this again using the wearable gimbal sold on Amazon for gopros
Problem with that is weight. The Osmo Pocket weights about as much as just the gopro by its self. Thats whats so exciting
Informative
Genius
very nice footage~!
Cool
Informative........... :) Yeah, it's weird looking. lol
I have The same idea for my hubsan... But not have money for osmo 😂😂
Track your quad qith the osm so we can see it in Los in a open field
goooooood!!!!!!!!
iv'e forgot to put mine on once and it didn't go so well lol
The only solution is to mount it on a gimbal (aka gimbal on a gimbal solution) :D
Cool concept, without the tap to focus you are crippled and going to get blurry footage. But good job.
so....? stay tuned ?
Haha I guess so!
it's same ideal with us, but i can see Jello on this video :((
Dem Gopher Holes are no joke!
It was blur because of autofocus in osmo pocket.
You need to mount it with bobbins :)
Agreed, thats the next project I think
I saw one guy do it on a 5”. No jello at all.
woult be better to just use the built in hero 7 stabilisation
Mechanical stabilization is far better
Didn't put the TX antenna on......what a rookie move🤔😀👍👍
these typically are not powerful enough to do that unless you are ramping up power.....
@@ThrottleAddiction
TBS products can safely handle being powered up without an antenna. No worries here

Not a bad idea.....but....
do a roll, see how the gimbal handles it.
Nice try. Wasn’t too bad. Keep trying 😊👍✈️
Good try 👍
