No yea i agree with you, aegis just makes him feel like he’s just not trying (not to be rude) but his joker and byleth are definitely better than his aegis. And aegis is definitely good, but they are just a little more honest than joker and byleth. But at the same time she’s also easier than byleth and joker, but i heard he’s just playing aegis because they’re fun, which im happy he’s having fun with them (it’s based off of what i heard)
No dude it was was the most insane shit seeing that live, you know both players wanted that win so badly and tweek finally clutching out the man who clutched him out of so many championship wins. That was the most heart wrenching set I've ever seen. Up there with evo 2019.

One thing I also think rings true is that Leo was so far ahead of everyone else in terms of skill before, Tweek was probably the closest but now people have caught up. Once you are REALLY REALLY good it's hard to get better and find things to improve upon. They are simply catching up and it's not his fault. Everyone at this event minus the vote-ins are of exceptional talent. It's crazy that Leo placed 9th and Tweek played THAT well and got 7th. I honestly think people need to realize this because they are putting pressure on Leo imo, he can't help that there's not much to improve upon and people are merely catching up.
Also the fact that he played Aegis this summit and summit 3... You see how much better he gets when he plays Byleth/Joker (Yes I know he got 4th at summit 4 as Byleth but Sparg0 was playing out of his mind that time and their set was still close, and proto is proto)
Another thing to keep in mind is how many sets he has to play and who he has to go up against. Thanks to his seeding, he may have like 3 sets against players who stand a reasonable chance against him in a normal bracket while Summit requires you to play 3 sets against high to top level players just to be seeded. In general, he has to play against much better talent from beginning to end. And since he isn't a flat-out immortal best in the world, he does still occasionally fall to those below him. The uptick in top level matches means an increased chance of the occasional loss. Heck, the 3 players he lost to were Riddles who has been improving at an insane rate, Tweek who has beaten him in the past, and Gluto who has practically had his number since Pound. His placement makes a shocking amount of sense given context.

Ngl, Dabuz sold sets twice because he went too deep and payed dearly for it. Once in the first game against Gluto, and the night before against cosmos in their game 5 match. He got reverse edgeguarded both times and payed for it.

Yes, he can just stick Byleth and Joker and just rack up wins till he's Zero levels of unbeatable, but that's boring. With Aegis though, I'm sure he'll figure it out to reach levels similar to his other two mains real quick. This is the first time he's placed out of the top 5 since January of 2021. Honestly speaking from a Leo fan, I don't think he's winning anymore tournaments with aegis. Every top player plays, has played, or even played against multiple aegis. I remember when he uses to play character that didn't get a lot of play and make them the new meta. He'll come around though.
That last set is why, despite its flaws, we love smash. Dat shit Purest gameplay ever. Two titans playing out of there minds to the point you could write fucking character arcs for them just for the timeline of the set.
