Such an extremely gifted and powerful trio of first-class artists! I've always loved the musical gifts of each of these musical titans! Rest in musical peacefulness, Mr. Ndugu Chancler! 🙏🏿🥁 Such great communicators. They're all just blazing away on their instruments...jaw dropping!! Thank you so much for sharing. Blessings to you & all.
Saw Stanley 3 times only once he pulled out the upright I was in Tears this is a great collaboration With Great Patrice and Ndugu Rip Power great Drummer
Had a big crush on her in the 1980s. Yes, she can play, but she toned it down for the pop audience. To make a decent living, we have to sometimes play stuff for the general public. I threw up my hands and pursued my profession as a BSN RN in mental health. Play for myself and my dog. Playing in public brings me total joy, now why does it scare the daylights out of me? The one thing I had confidence in doing. Anyway, "The Hump" I guess I have a block to get over.
You should listen to her first record, made when she was 20 -you´ll see that she could have been the next Herbie Hancock if she wanted -but she chose her own path instead. In doing so, she reached probably much more exposure, but few people know how talented she is. The record´s name is Prelusion, you´ll find it in YT, and you´ll be amazed at how mature a player she already was by then. There were two more jazz/fusion records before she reinvented as an R&B artist; the second one (Before the Dawn) is as good as the first. Hear them, you´ll not be disappointed.
This is a wonderful gem!!!! Thank you so very much for posting this!!! The sound quality is great, and they are really touching my soul with the music!!
Wow!!! Leon Chancler = Ndugu Patrice and Stanley What else can you say? I play drums and back in the day the word got around about this bad drummer named Ndugu on the scene and he was unbelievable, and could play his axx off! Now I remember as well he always had his ride and crash cymbals distinctively high up in the air which was very flashy at the time! RIP!
I didn't realize he'd passed. I saw him with Miles in Boston many moons ago. And in NYC with assorted groups in the 90's always sparkling playing so ears open. RIP
I hate when subtitles are misleading...certainly not this time....what a privilege to bump into this jam, what a buzz , I’m captivated. Partrice what a talent the great Stanley Clarke Ndugu masterfulisms
Don't judge a musician by the disco record cover! She is a fully trained jazz pianist! And was writing and recording at a very young age.....I was blessed to see her live in a real bijou venue about 8 years ago. Just awesomeness.
Stanley,Patrice.Nduju tore it up and threw down. Respect
Woooowwww !!!! What a session !!!
I have always liked her...
Patrice playing like I knew she could play. Clarke and Chancler; beautiful playing.
R.I.P Ndugu Chancellor! This is wonderful! Props to Patrice Rushen & Stanley Clarke!
ndugu chancler onthe prelusion and bits of the before dawn record are one of the most interesting jazz fusion drums i’ve ever heard

Oleo sounds unbelievable!!!!!! High class!!!!
Excellent. As a drummer, I'm studying Ndugu at the moment and this is a great find. I believe that this was recorded around the year 2000.
Patrice was also the main sound behind jean Luc Ponty. before she became an R+B pop star she was the greatest female jazz pianist.
This is brilliant!!
Thanks for the the feel, groove and fantasi Ndugu RIP
Wow! I never knew Patrice Rushen played piano. And so proficiently!!!
You're kidding, right?
How old are you?
