- From our Discover Jazz series from Vermont Public (then known as Vermont PBS) the grammy-winning bandleader, composer, arranger, and educator has performed on over 300 albums in addition to collaborations with Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner, Sting, The Roots, and more. With pianist Christian Sands and drummer Jerome Jennings, McBride leads an energized and youthful unit that’s powered from the ground up.
Stellar jazz performances from Burlington, Vermont's Discover Jazz festival. These were recorded live in the Flynn-Space's intimate, club-like setting, featuring an eclectic mix of established and emerging artists. At the 31:31 minute mark...The ballad "I Have Dreamed" from the wonderful "King and I" musical, is sublime and heart-rendering in their delicate and thoughtful treatment of it, sooo lovely!!!

Sands, so authentic and tasteful, McBride, so soulful and tasteful, Jerome, so tasteful and TASTEFUL. This is the best trio ever in my opinion! We aspire to be like you guys!
That solo with brushes by Jerome starting at about 25mins is amazeballs.

I saw these guys live in the flagey in Brussels not long ago and what I really loved about Jerome was how he could by playing so little, so subtle, contribute so much to the sound of the band. A real talent right there! These guys are not just playing the right notes, the way they handle them with such care and ear for details is what makes it more than just music. Such an inspiration you are Christian, keep it up! :)

I pulled out Sci-Fi the other day (Mr McB's album from 2000(?)). Jesus.... actually that's all I could say to myself as I listened in awe, and rewound solo after solo of his, and his fellow contributors... 'Jesus'... 'Lord have mercy'.... 'good God': This musician brings me closer to the source!! In fact, thinking about it, in this crazy-ass'd world we live in at the moment, we sometimes forget that art, and music in particular is supposed to help put us back in touch with our soul. As for this trio's performance, WOW!, you can just FEEL the love. Thank you so much for posting.

Absolutely fantastic -- and that brush drum solo just blew my hat down the street...outa sight!
The brush solo on Hallelujah Time was SOOOOOOOOOOO CRAZZZZZYYYY!!! A lot of people don't understand how difficult it is to master brushes - to be able to maintain dynamic as well as the proper strike force and speed is something that most drummers never figure out. As a drummer myself, I give nothing but props to Jerome for that blazing solo, Keep it up guys...my favorite Trio!

Just superb. Saw the trio live in Belgium recently, and I have to say that in my many years of following jazz, and having seen many of the big names, this was the best. Music, stage presence, interaction with the audience - if Miles Daves were alive today he would want to be playing with these guys!

I, an atheist, forgive that there are as many as 2 Christians in this trio because they sound simply too great to criticize. The young pianist, Christian Sands, is a great find for me. Good phrasing and nice touch.

Christian, you're such a great pleasure to listen to. I first encountered you on dates with Benny Green (who went to my high school and whom I used to see at the original Yoshi's in Oakland). I've since seen you perform with Inside Straight. But I truly love this trio -- everyone fits together so effortlessly! My hat's off to all three of you.

yamaha is dominating jazz-pop music scene, unless stainway is will to design/make jazz-pop pianos...etc. classical version of stainway is magical, but for some reason it never works for jazz...etc. as for this trio, im huge mcBride fan...that's all :)
