Let me add to the controversy, without the wings he's the same height as the current red hulk but without the butterfly joints. So Hulk is 35$ and the Dragon is adding 50$ worth of wings and butterfly joints 🤔
I’m interested in seeing how that segmented tail works. That’s the most interesting new thing about this figure and I don’t hear any mention of it anywhere.
If it came with a breath effect and two more accessories and a pointing hand might be worth $85 + hasbro pulse insane shipping and taxes. to me it looks worth about $65 now that Odin figure...now that's worth the price. would be absolutely comical they drop a marvel select dragon man around the same time however, I'm pretty sure hasbro is making sure they never do that anytime soon.
I was just looking at it like this, for me it’s worth it for a few factors. It’s all new sculpt with a much more intricate body, wings, and tail combo than some deluxe figures that reuse parts. It could’ve easily been the Haslab and hidden behind $150-200 paywall with multiple figure add ons and tiers. It also isn’t a must-have character for everyone which is the perfect opportunity for them to test out a new release strategy for deluxe figures. Hasbro is trying something new and I commend them for it.
I do think it's probably about $10-20 too much. Thing is, while it's comparable to import figure prices, those are unlicensed/original IPs. If you look at licensed imports of comparable size such as Figuarts, which tend to not have the load out of smaller figures, it's considerably cheaper. Personally, McFarlane's DC mega figs and vehicles is what I think draws the better comparison, and by that, it is too high.
I don't have any connection to the character of Dragon Man even though that figure looks freaking amazing and the price well it's not bad because I bought some figures around that price. Still to each their own and yeah that's about it.
I thought it would land at $100-125 easy. When they revealed the problem ce I have to say I did consider it. Couple of factors, Dragon man isn’t a favorite character of mine. I have a few FF comics with him in it, good but far from my fav FF stories. I kinda got tempted for a bit though. That and I didn’t realize he was only 10’ tall. I could have sworn he was taller. Honestly I dont care, I never liked the character, have no need or want for it. If people do good for them. Have fun in Jersey I would go but DFW and Terifficon blew out my budget and My transmission in my car decided to go. So I have to spend this weekend car shopping.

I'm in the group that think it's OVERPRICED. But... I know I'm gonna buy it soooo.... I feel like a hypocrite. BUT.... I'm wondering. Why do people believe just because it's "big" or use more plastic mean it should cost a lot? And even if that's so. Then why don't ALL action figures around the same size cost about the same? For example: If a small action figure comes with a TON of accessories. By the logic that it has a lot of plastic being used. Then it should cost the same price as a much bigger fig with little to no extra accessories. So yeah. Just like Ninja said. It's not much bigger than a Marvel Select.
Gonna have to pass on Dragon Man. Although the Crystal with LockJaw is going to be entering my collection. They'll look good with my retro style Fantastic Four!
Been waiting on your input for this. You are correct people who don’t collect imports expect it to be pricier but also don’t know how much accesorios it should come with. I feel like 10-14 inch figures should have this concept but done right. Extra heads, hands, weapons. For me make a planet hulk/ww hulk this fits since that’s a bigger hulk. Saw Dave’s video as well midsized sentinels is also a great idea for this. Hasbro should redo older bafs with today’s tech or explore other characters that aren’t as big as this. They still have plenty of picks in their marvel category. We can add thors Norse mythology since we all know he fights bigger characters there’s multiple ideas they just gotta do it right
The one thing this figure has though that those independent figures don’t is it’s an obscure Marvel character that has a cult following. It’s the name that brings a bit more value. Fantastic Four collectors or Jack Kirby (i think he drew dragon man) fans etc might want. I always say those indi lines are fantastic but they don’t carry nostalgia. I’m not saying that justifies high price but having a legacy does mean something to a lot of collectors. As Ive come close to my 50s. Nostalgia and legacy/heritage do entice me more now. It has to be more than it “just looks cool”. Especially where action figure prices are at.

I really love the look of the figure, but as someone who is moving away from ML to more imports and third party stuff, I think that price is hard to justify. I think it would have been an easy buy at $65.
The Destroyer from the 2-pack with Thor is 9 inches and it's fairly hefty when you hold it. I imagine Thor plus the Destroyer use the same amount of plastic as Dragonman (including the wings) and the MSRP was $59.99. So Hasbro is doing something funky with the math.

I have no desire for DragonMan. Never read anything with him in it so it he means nothing to me. $85 made me go whaaaaat?!? But then I think LooseCollector is around $75 for a much smaller figure. He is sculpted well. Looks painted well where needed (hope they paint the other wings too for those that do want it). So the price in todays market.... I suppose. Would think $65 maaaaaybe $70 would be better. But still a pass for me anyway.
It's weird seeing so many complaints about this price, but then defend Bandai's BS. Hundred bucks for a monsterart with derp eyes, and it'll fall apart every time you pose it.
I am torn because he is emblematic of an era. But its an era I am not the greatest fan of. More than a 100€ here in EU. I will have to skip it because other coming up imports and some legends have more value to me (mainly wu-kong monkey and a figuarts Rathalos) I agree with on every point of this video. Two sides for sure. Wings and the orange/purple make it really cool. I still think its too expensive for what it is. I dont own any marvel select but that should be the price range with a little extra. I would have maybe gone for it for around 60€.
If it was the same price as Odin (not only is Odin cheaper it has more accessories) I would definitely buy it but it’s way overpriced. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is successful enough if hasbro started doing that with anything that’s around the same size as hulk. Hasbro has literally released 12 inch figures (Surtur and Adaptoid) for less than that. Of course there are right answers and there are wrong answers. We, as human beings, probably can never truly now. Of course, right and wrong answers probably matter less with toys than with truly importnat matters.
I think they didn't paint the inside of the folded wings to help emphasize more that they are folded. To show off the size difference more effectively. In a lot of the comics the wings are dark with shadow or a much darker pink when folded. You could be right about it just being that way in these renders, too, and maybe it will be painted darker in the final product.
I don’t have a connection to the character so no nostalgia for me. I’m getting him because he’ll look cool with my fantasy figs. I do think the price is about $20 too much.

10" tall, new mold that isn't going to get much other use, two sets of wings, fully articulated tail, limited run website exclusive. Comparing this to current $50 and $60 marvel legends releases, I feel it is fair.
Well for what you get with most marvel legends, generally I think they’re overpriced already. So this is definitely priced proportionally to its size but only because it’s priced how hasbro prices their figures. You can generally get a lot more uniquely sculpted / painted plastic through marvel select. And marvel select also has to pay that “big” licensing fee to Disney that Hasbros have to talk about so much.
Absolutely a pick up for me to go on my Mezco FF display. I love the Third party figures 🔥🔥🔥 so the price is about the same or less than what would spend on a single 3rd party figure.
The unpainted wings are based on the original look of the character. Since it will not be released ever again, they are giving collectors the two variants of the character.
Not knocking anybody who likes this, but to me this just looks like a hunk of plastic with no articulation . I know it has some thou but I also get the perspective of people who’ve been wanting this for a long time so I’m happy for them and 85 bucks , Ain’t a bad price for something that big . 12 inch marvel legends were 49.99 or 59.99 when they put those out years ago. hulk was around 100 usd with tax and delivery when he was released in the line. seems like dragon man came in at a good price based on that.

Yes it's overpriced. It's €103 to receive it from Hasbro Pulse EU. As you said the Axytoys is comparable and comes with more for the price and the paint. This figure looks very basic to me. I know we have the decision to walk away from it of course. My belief is this is the entry in a series of similar figures and once they get people in for this you'll see Apocalypse at a higher price imo because he's more popular.

This is not a FuRay yet Hasbro expects a deluxe figure with wings justifies their price tag. The wings don't articulate yet ML can release an Angel with articulated wings at a fraction of the cost? Marvel Select will be releasing their Annihlus with articulated wings at less then half the price of Dragon Man? What about those wings that came with Venom in the Knull 2-pack, and how much was that? The jagged little pill to swallow is Dragon Man is on my wish list. Nostalgia will overtake common sense when I pre-order it. Yet I swear as Odin as my witness the toleration level for ML's dirty tricks are nearing Defcon 4.
Without the wings it’s $34.99. With one pair of wings $44.99. With everything I would say roughly $55. How much was that Angel figure $36 with one set of wings, but he’s smaller. Red Hulk is close in height and is $34.99 at Target. Super Adaptoid was sold at $69.99. It’s now $30. Well, unless you go to Ollie’s. It shouldn’t be $86.
Dragon Man was a must have for me. But I knew they were going to overprice him. I DID expect them to price gouge it worse than they did, I thought he'd be about $100, but I think they changed their mind when hearing people complain that it shouldn't be $100 so they dropped the price. $85 is ridiculous. Odin at $65 is way overpriced as well. Crystal and Lockjaw? Overpriced. Essentially, a minimally articulated Lockjaw is $45 of the price tag for that 2-pack. And Hasbro has lost their minds with Phoenix. An extra $0.06 worth of plastic for the flame bird effect and so they jack up the price to $50? Phoenix is the most egregiously overpriced figure ever. I suspect this is Hasbro's attempt to make up for not doing a Haslab. Think about it. They made $2.4 million in sales on Giantman, $12 million on Sentinel and $14 million on Galactus. So they gotta make up for having no Haslab income this year. That's why they're cranking out these overpriced figures now.

I do not know his marvel backstory but I am an X-Men fan and this cat is going to be an O.G. from when Apocalypse was with his boo Genesis and his kids. Love the show and be well.

85 for dragon man is a great prince New deco/mold/body Bendy wire 10 inch tail Height an width Plus I love anything f4 and future foundation Plus look at dragon man figure that’s older it goes for hundreds This being a more accurate comic look an simply looks better with crazy detail is gonna go crazy in the after market

I have the OG Dragonman in my collection, not sure if I will be getting this one. Might have to pass on it. I will be at Play with This in Merchantville New Jersey this saturday, can't make it to ToyConNJ.
This figure is very niche for those who are filling in a Kirby era Golden Age cast of Fantastic Four/Avengers. So if you ordered a Giant Man Haslab, it's for you. But it's definitely a gouge for those collectors. Oil per barrel is going down. The costs should be as well.
Everything feels overpriced, but I guess it depends on how bad a plastic crack addiction you have decides on what you'll overpay on 😂. I think Dragon Man looks cool but have zero connection to the character, so easy pass. Could see this line being a problem down the road though if they do something I do care about...
Too expensive for what you get. Plus i have no attachment to that character. For $49 it would been more appealing. If the wings had been articulated add $5. But that's it.
I think it's a bit over-priced, especially when you factor in that they don't have to give a store a cut of the price since they're selling it directly. Heck, if it *was* more widely available the price would have most likely been where people expected it to be. The current price would be more palatable if it came with some more accessories. Some flame effects at the very least. That would have made the $85 feel more worth it. I still plan on getting it, but I'm not as happy as I would have been if the price was lower and/or it came with some more accessories (why no flame effects Hasbro?!?!?).
There are 2 ways to look at this: from a consumer's perspective and from the seller's perspective. I look at it from both and that is how I justify the value of it. My conclusion is that it is comparable in size to Marvel Select but, that's it. It has better articulation than Select, you won't have to heat it up every time you want to pose it for fear of breaking it, and it will probably be more resistant to scratching and paint rub than Select. The body sculpt is very unique and has little to no chance of being reused. Outside of Hulks, the butterfly joints are rare for deluxe-size and up figures so they do add to the value a little bit. It has not one, but two pairs of wings that, plastic for plastic, account for the lack in accessories, and also have little to no chance of being reused. Is it pricey? Absolutely. But so is a friggin donut nowadays. Hasbro is a business and their purpose is to make money. We all understand that. And there are instances in the past where it definitely looked like they were being greedy on figure/vehicle price points. However, given that this is probably a one-shot deal for them to make money off of this sculpt, I don't think Dragon Man is overpriced. Time will tell as we all know value can change once we have the actual figure in hand. Really, if you want to complain about overpricing, we should all be pointing fingers at the standard size Legends at the $26 price point that are mostly recolored reuse with a little bit of paint here and there and maybe a couple of accessories which often are reused, too.
Agree but hasbro very cunningly released the price for the inhuman with dog 2 pack for $70 to make you feel this is a good deal along with how they price their haslab giant man $200… psychological marketing scheme😅
I'll got it. BAFs are good but they just don't work for me as I have to get unnecessary stuff just for the parts. I have been waiting for this one for years and the secondary market prices are ridiculous, so I am happy and don't wanna complain here.
It's not a bad looking figure. And it's something that hasn't been offered before. I noticed that hasbro is digging into the character archives and putting out characters from the comics and not the movies. Isn't that what ML collectors want? As for the price tag, well if someone wants something bad enough they will pay $$$$.

Personally I think the price is right, however I would've preferred articulated wings instead of two different sets. A flame effect would've been cool as well.
I think the price is is just alright. It’s not great but not offensive. Sadly if you’re a marvel collector there’s no great option anymore even imports like mafex are giving you less bang for your buck.
The whole point of Hasbro is that they are cheaper figures with "good enough" articulation relative to the boutique, high end brands. Overpricing defeats the purpose. Might as well buy the high end figure.

It's weird seeing so many complaints about this price, but then defend Bandai's BS. Hundred bucks for a monsterart with derp eyes, and it'll fall apart every time you pose it.

I dont own any marvel select but that should be the price range with a little extra. I would have maybe gone for it for around 60€.
If it was the same price as Odin (not only is Odin cheaper it has more accessories) I would definitely buy it but it’s way overpriced. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is successful enough if hasbro started doing that with anything that’s around the same size as hulk. Hasbro has literally released 12 inch figures (Surtur and Adaptoid) for less than that. I think they didn't paint the inside of the folded wings to help emphasize more that they are folded. To show off the size difference more effectively. In a lot of the comics the wings are dark with shadow or a much darker pink when folded. You could be right about it just being that way in these renders, too, and maybe it will be painted darker in the final product.

10" tall, new mold that isn't going to get much other use, two sets of wings, fully articulated tail, limited run website exclusive. Comparing this to current $50 and $60 marvel legends releases, I feel it is fair.
Well for what you get with most marvel legends, generally I think they’re overpriced already. So this is definitely priced proportionally to its size but only because it’s priced how hasbro prices their figures. You can generally get a lot more uniquely sculpted / painted plastic through marvel select. And marvel select also has to pay that “big” licensing fee to Disney that Hasbros have to talk about so much.

The unpainted wings are based on the original look of the character. Since it will not be released ever again, they are giving collectors the two variants of the character.

12 inch marvel legends were 49.99 or 59.99 when they put those out years ago. hulk was around 100 usd with tax and delivery when he was released in the line. seems like dragon man came in at a good price based on that.

As you said the Axytoys is comparable and comes with more for the price and the paint. This figure looks very basic to me. I know we have the decision to walk away from it of course.
My belief is this is the entry in a series of similar figures and once they get people in for this you'll see Apocalypse at a higher price imo because he's more popular.

Marvel Select will be releasing their Annihlus with articulated wings at less then half the price of Dragon Man? What about those wings that came with Venom in the Knull 2-pack, and how much was that? The jagged little pill to swallow is Dragon Man is on my wish list. Nostalgia will overtake common sense when I pre-order it. Yet I swear as Odin as my witness the toleration level for ML's dirty tricks are nearing Defcon 4.

Without the wings it’s $34.99. With one pair of wings $44.99. With everything I would say roughly $55. How much was that Angel figure $36 with one set of wings, but he’s smaller. Red Hulk is close in height and is $34.99 at Target. Super Adaptoid was sold at $69.99. It’s now $30. Well, unless you go to Ollie’s. It shouldn’t be $86.
Dragon Man was a must have for me. But I knew they were going to overprice him. I DID expect them to price gouge it worse than they did, I thought he'd be about $100, but I think they changed their mind when hearing people complain that it shouldn't be $100 so they dropped the price. $85 is ridiculous. Odin at $65 is way overpriced as well. Crystal and Lockjaw? Overpriced. Essentially, a minimally articulated Lockjaw is $45 of the price tag for that 2-pack. And Hasbro has lost their minds with Phoenix. An extra $0.06 worth of plastic for the flame bird effect and so they jack up the price to $50? Phoenix is the most egregiously overpriced figure ever.
I suspect this is Hasbro's attempt to make up for not doing a Haslab. Think about it. They made $2.4 million in sales on Giantman, $12 million on Sentinel and $14 million on Galactus. So they gotta make up for having no Haslab income this year. That's why they're cranking out these overpriced figures now.

Great video, Ninja. I pre-ordered Dragon Man. I hope he scales well with the animated Apocalypse because he is fitting to be a Horseman. I do not know his marvel backstory but I am an X-Men fan and this cat is going to be an O.G. from when Apocalypse was with his boo Genesis and his kids. Love the show and be well.

I have the OG Dragonman in my collection, not sure if I will be getting this one. Might have to pass on it. I will be at Play with This in Merchantville New Jersey this saturday, can't make it to ToyConNJ.
This figure is very niche for those who are filling in a Kirby era Golden Age cast of Fantastic Four/Avengers. So if you ordered a Giant Man Haslab, it's for you. But it's definitely a gouge for those collectors. Oil per barrel is going down. The costs should be as well.

I think Dragon Man looks cool but have zero connection to the character, so easy pass. Could see this line being a problem down the road though if they do something I do care about...
Too expensive for what you get. Plus i have no attachment to that character. For $49 it would been more appealing. If the wings had been articulated add $5. But that's it.
I think it's a bit over-priced, especially when you factor in that they don't have to give a store a cut of the price since they're selling it directly. Heck, if it *was* more widely available the price would have most likely been where people expected it to be. The current price would be more palatable if it came with some more accessories. Some flame effects at the very least. That would have made the $85 feel more worth it. I still plan on getting it, but I'm not as happy as I would have been if the price was lower and/or it came with some more accessories (why no flame effects Hasbro?!?!?).
There are 2 ways to look at this: from a consumer's perspective and from the seller's perspective. I look at it from both and that is how I justify the value of it. My conclusion is that it is comparable in size to Marvel Select but, that's it. It has better articulation than Select, you won't have to heat it up every time you want to pose it for fear of breaking it, and it will probably be more resistant to scratching and paint rub than Select. The body sculpt is very unique and has little to no chance of being reused. Outside of Hulks, the butterfly joints are rare for deluxe-size and up figures so they do add to the value a little bit. It has not one, but two pairs of wings that, plastic for plastic, account for the lack in accessories, and also have little to no chance of being reused. Is it pricey? Absolutely. But so is a friggin donut nowadays. Hasbro is a business and their purpose is to make money. We all understand that. And there are instances in the past where it definitely looked like they were being greedy on figure/vehicle price points. However, given that this is probably a one-shot deal for them to make money off of this sculpt, I don't think Dragon Man is overpriced. Time will tell as we all know value can change once we have the actual figure in hand. Really, if you want to complain about overpricing, we should all be pointing fingers at the standard size Legends at the $26 price point that are mostly recolored reuse with a little bit of paint here and there and maybe a couple of accessories which often are reused, too.

It's not a bad looking figure. And it's something that hasn't been offered before. I noticed that hasbro is digging into the character archives and putting out characters from the comics and not the movies. Isn't that what ML collectors want?

I think the price is is just alright. It’s not great but not offensive. Sadly if you’re a marvel collector there’s no great option anymore even imports like mafex are giving you less bang for your buck.
The whole point of Hasbro is that they are cheaper figures with "good enough" articulation relative to the boutique, high end brands. Overpricing defeats the purpose. Might as well buy the high end figure.
