Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoy all of our products. 🥰
Yes. Me too.
Thanks for this beautiful shawl. I love your surface technique for attaching the pockets.❤️😊
You are so welcome!
Something beautiful and cozy while watching late night tv, or listening to Audiobooks (like many of us). The challenge will be using up my stash. I can’t buy new yarn for another month or so. Thanks !! Last night, here in Ct , it was in the low 50’s. This will come in handy. I, too, couldn’t find the perfect pocket shawl. I wanted a granny like stitch, but not a lot of holes, a little lower mid back for warmth, and I like the pockets on the inside (patch pickets) or on the outside (angled pocket). I don’t know if your shawl meets these requirements, but it’s so lovely that it doesn’t matter!!
I'm so happy you like our design and it seems like it's coming at the perfect moment as well.
Have a wonderful day! 💕
Beautiful shawl, been waiting to make something for myself this beautiful. Love it!

Hi Chandi - I love this method of ribbing instead of the post stitches.

My pleasure. 💕
Simple but very cute 😍😍😍. Thanks.
You’re welcome 😊
I love your tutorials!
Glad you like them!
that's wonderful!! you have a great talent👍👏
Thank you very much! 🥰
For anyone like me, who has trouble with the slip stitches in the ribbing (I found it hard to see which ones I was meant to use & my ribbing would end up too wide from using stitches twice!) Put stitch markers in every 2nd stitch across. That way you know which ones youve used (remove as you go & add on to the end so u only need a few markers). For example, if you start by a sl st into stitch 1 & 2 (have a marker in 2, 4, 6 , 8 etc) you know ur first slst is in the unmarked stitch & ur 2nd will be in that next stitch marker. So the next 2 sl sts will be in the unmarked st before the marker (st no 3 for example) & ur 2nd sl st into the marked st (st no 4), which has the marker in it etc etc. It's an easy way of keeping track of the stitches so you don't end up using a stitch twice by accident :)
What a neat trick. Thanks for sharing! 🥰
Ohhhhhhhh....me likey. ❤️ just in time with the upcoming fall season.
I'm so happy you like it and hope you enjoy making one for yourself!
@@ExpressionFiberArts I am starting it right now lol I know I haven't commented for a little while, but I am still a creeper when it comes to your videos :)

Hi Chandi. Beautiful pattern! Very pretty pocket shawl! I have to say Chandi, I have never seen anyone switch between the knife grip and the pencil grip the way do! It’s amazing! I can’t do the pencil hold at all. When I tried it I laughed my head off! I had never even seen it until I met my teacher around 10 years ago. I had done the knife grip for years. Kudos to you! Thanks for another fantastic pattern and tutorial. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!💗
Thank you so much and I'm so glad you enjoy our tutorials. A wonderful Labor Day weekend to you as well! 💙

Chandi!! I'm still awaiting the knit version! 😊
Hi Patty, the knit version is in the works but a release date is not set yet. It will most likely not be before next year. I'm sorry about that. Have a nice weekend. 💕
This pocket shawl is gorgeous. I also love your nail polish, would mind sharing the color is that? Thanks Chandi.🥰
You're very welcome and thank you! 🥰
Good Morning! I am making a shawl for a close friend for her cruise in July. I was aiming at an asymmetrical shawl, but then I saw this pattern and though POCKET SHAWL! Because, truly, one needs to have someplace to put their phone, right??!! Now I just need to figure out which Mandala 3 weight I want to use, or maybe a Cotton Cake. Hmmmmm…. Thank You!
Awesome, I hope she'll love it! 💕
It's a little beauty 💙🇨🇦🍁🌞🐘
Thanks! 🥰🥰🥰
Buenos días me encantan tus obras de arte, me encantaría que pudieras poner los subtítulos en español. Gracias por compartir 🥰❤️👏🏻
Thank you! Try this trick. Turn on closed captions, and click on the Settings (the gear icon). Choose Subtitles/CC and to the right of that there is a language option. Use that to select Auto-Translate, and then choose Spanish. UA-cam will automatically translate the closed captions for you.
@ExpressionFiberArts the cc autotranslate is blocked on phone and tablet, it only works in English. You have to give it free for other languages first, i think.
Chandi can you please give us the stitch count? Without it I am afraid no one can make this. It is very pretty and would love to make one today. Looks like any even number for this pattern 🤷♀️. I shall try that. Love this! I have never been able to do ribbing for some odd reason. Can do it all but that😂😂 but will figure out another border😉
Hi Sophiecjp, yes any even number of stitches will do. The pattern indicate to chain 190 stitches.
I hope you won't have too much trouble with your border.
Have a wonderful weekend! 🥰
Thank you Chandi, you are wonderful. I may try the ribbing one more time. Your instructions seem like maybe I have a chance🤞🤞
Awesome love it was also searching for something like this pattern for charity and waahlaa😁 curious any knitting pattern similar to this one? I have just recently got back into knitting too. ❤🙏
I'm glad you like it! We have a knitted version in the pipeline, but it will be some time before it's ready to release.
@@ExpressionFiberArts thank you Chandi I will be watching for it 👀😁
I finished first one of this pattern for charity turned out beautiful.
Dear Chandi! 🥰It’s perfect for my mother!! How many stitches should I cast on in total?
Just download the pattern at www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sue-ellen.html
It's currently free and includes all of the information you need.
I have been learning to crochet. I understood everything you did and said. As a beginner do you think I could follow the pattern. Is there a place I can purchase the pattern and yarn in a kit? I’m colorblind, I always get kits. Thank you. I love your knit patterns. I’m giving my hands a rest from knitting. Thank you.
Hi Jacque, thank you for your message. Happy to heat that you're picking up crochet. Unfortunately we don't offer kits for this pattern but you can choose any color of our Pearlescent Worsted weight yarn: www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/wool-worsted-wt-yarn.html
You will need 5 skeins in total and it can be 5 of the same color as well. The pattern is downloadable from our website: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sue-ellen.html
I hope this helps. Have a great day! 🥰
I love it, and would like to make one, I saw the video, but where’s the pattern?❤
You can find the Sue Ellen pattern here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sue-ellen.html
The links to the patterns and yarns used in the video are usually also given in the description box below the tutorials.
Enjoy! 🧡
This looks fun.. the sweater in back is it crochet too? Would love the pattern.
Thanks, and yes the sweater on the mannequin is crocheted as well. That is our Pebbled Sweater that you can find here on our website: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/pebbled.html
Enjoy and have a lovely day! 💕
@@ExpressionFiberArts thanks just picked it up 💕💕
ooo what is that hook! it's so pretty and looks so smooth to work with
This is made with our Pearlescent Worsted. It's 50:50 Merino Wool and Mulberry Silk: www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/wool-worsted-wt-yarn.html
Glad you like it!
Chandi, will you be bringing back the Sea Teal colorway? If not, I’ll choose another color. Thanks.
Hi Nan, we currently don't have it on our dye schedule but I'm happy to put it on our request sheet for you. In the meantime please sign up to get notified here (www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sea-teal-pearlescent-worsted.html) when the color is available again. If Chandi agrees to dye it it'll be ready in 2-3 weeks.
Have a nice day! 💕
@@ExpressionFiberArts Yes, please! go ahead and put it on your request sheet. I will follow the link, too, and sign up to be notified if its availability. Thanks so much for the quick response. I just ordered a bunch of your yarn and can't wait to see, feel and crochet with it!!!
@@ExpressionFiberArts I just tried to click on the link, and it said "page not found". But, I'll wait to see if Chandi can dye it. Not in a huge rush, so don't stress over it.❤You guys are awesome!
I love this shawl. I’ve made it and I’m working on the pockets. The top of the pocket is rippled and I’ve redone it twice. I can’t figure out why it doesn’t lay flat like it’s suppose to. Any help would be appreciated.
Hmmm, I'm really not entirely sure what might be going on. Send us an email at www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/ and we can provide better one-on-one crochet support.
Complimenti è bellissimo ,gentilmente la larghezza e lunghezza dello scialle numero uncinetto del filato
You can find all this info on the pattern page here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sue-ellen.html
The link is usually also given in the description box below the tutorial. The finished dimensions of the Shawl are: 16” x 60” (41 cm x 152 cm) after blocking. The yarn used is a worsted weight yarn (number 4).
May I know which brand of hooks are you using? Just the type that I am looking for!
Hi Jascinth, thank you for your question. Chandi likes the Susan Bates crochet hooks because of their short necks.
I hope this answers it. Have a wonderful day! 💕
Love this shawl. I would like use a dk weight with a 4mm hook how do i adjust the pattern?
Hi Rochelle, happy you like our newest pattern.
I think adjusting the pattern for DK yarn and smaller hook should be fairly easy to do. To do so I'd suggest to make a gauge swatch with your desired yarn and hook. Based on the dimensions of that you will know how many stitches you need to chain (even number of stitches) to get to the same length like the sample. The number of rows you will need to crochet will also be determined by your gauge swatch. One thing to remember is that changing your yarn weight and hook will affect yardage requirements.
I hope this and answers your question. Have a wonderful day! 💕
Thank you so much
Hi I am looking at using DK yarn as well. Did you adjust the hook size in the end
@@eilishschopp6519 i have not made this sorry
Can you do a yarn size 10 project?
Hi, have you looked on our website for some bulky projects? We offer several designs in our Buttery Bulky base. You can find these here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/patterns.html?_bc_fsnf=1&Yarn+Base=Buttery+Bulky
I hope there is something there that you might like. Have a great weekend! ❤️
Hi! I have a question about the pockets. The pattern specifies a RS and WS. Does this matter when sewing the pockets to the shawl? I accidentally carried up my alternating skeins on the right side of both of the pockets. Can I sew WS up, or do you think the seam will cover the floats? Help, please!
Hi Justine, I think sewing the WS up should be fine. Since it's only single crochets are used it shouldn't make a difference.
I hope it works out! 💕
Will you be showing us a knit version for this shawl?
Hi there, yes, we have a knitted version already in the works. I can't give you info on the release yet, however. Have a wonderful day! 💕
Hi, Chandi! What is the multiples of this pattern? Thanks
This pattern begins with ch190. The overall size of the shawl can be adjusted by chaining an even number of stitches until you are 3” (8 cm) short of your desired length.
Do you have a knit pattern like this. I would love to try it.
Not yet. We have one in the works, but it will be some time before it's ready for release.
@@ExpressionFiberArts Thanks for letting me know. I will definitely look out for it. In the meantime I might try my hand at this pattern. Not as skilled at crocheting as I am at knitting. Have a Divinely Inspired weekend!
Hi Chandigarh the yarn I bought for this project is size 3I started with hook size 5.5 but after the first row of sc I wrap it around my neck and is not long even though I know I am still pending the edge. Is the hook size the problem here? What do recommend me? Please advise.
Hi Sabrina, thank you for your comment. I'm happy to help.
I think it's actually both since you use a lighter weight yarn and a smaller hook. I would just chain more stitches until you reach the length you want (about 3" shorter than your desired length). The pattern states that you can adjust its size by chaining an even number of stitches so you just need to make sure you stick to that. The only downside of this is, that you might need more yarn in the end.
I hope this makes sense and is helpful. Have a lovely day! 💕
Thanks Chandigarh for the quick response. I started my project and added more chains just like you said. Is looking beautiful! Thanks for sharing your talents with all your followers. ❤
Do you think it would look good with worsted cotton?
Yes, I think that would work. 💕
Thank you!!
Hi can you please let me know were I can buy this pattern
You can always find the link to the featured pattern in the full UA-cam video description. Just be sure to click "Show More" to see the entire text. You can find this pattern at www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sue-ellen.html
I want to make this but never in my life crocheted a single thing or know what is even happening so as a true beginner which one of your projects should I start with
Hi Karla, happy to hear that you're interested in making your very first handmade item. How about you try a beanie first? We have a tutorial for it here: ua-cam.com/video/42C1KTZD34o/v-deo.html and also offer kits for that: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/beginners-crochet-hat-kit-choose-your-color.html
After this you will already know how to work in the round, do a double crochet, a single crochet, and a slip stitch. So you will be almost there to do the pocket shawl which is worked flat.
I hope this is helpful. Have a wonderful day! 🥰
@@ExpressionFiberArts perfect that is what i will start with fun cross your fingers for me and good vibes
I am definitely misunderstanding the instructions. I'm up to the last marked stitch on the final side of the ribbing on the shawl. I am not sure how to make it flush. When I went by the instructions, there was still a gap. Can you help, please?
Hi Kelly, thank you for your question. Since I'm not entirely sure what the issue is, would you mind reaching out to us via the contact form at www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/ and attaching a picture if possible. It would be very helpful.
Thanks and have a great week! 💕
Thank you so much!! I will!!
Hi Chandi, just need to ask, what hook are you using?
Hi Mary-Ann, thank you for your comment. Are you wondering about the hook size or what brand Chandi is using for this project?
The pocket scarf Sue Ellen calls for an US size J (6.00 mm) and an US size K (6.50 mm) hook. Chandi's favorite crochet hooks are the Susan Bates crochet hooks because of their short necks.
I hope this answered all your questions. Have a nice day! 💕
@@ExpressionFiberArts Thank you so much for that, yes I was wondering if it may have been Susan Bates brand, Have a nice day or evening further...and thanks for the lovely tutorials
Could you do some other kind of edging besides the one shown?
Hi Pat, of course! You can use your preferred edging for the shawl. Depending on what you use it could mean however, that you might need more yardage.
Have a wonderful day! 💕

Hi there, yes the samples swatch in the tutorial was made with 10 chains but the written pattern calls for 190 chains to begin the scarf. Have a nice weekend! 💕
