Made one year's back, used it a lot, somehow it found legs and ran away. It took me a while to find this video again, Thanks and indeed it is still the easiest sharpening jig to make on UA-cam.

Where has this been for the last 4 1/2 years ??? That was about as easy as anything I have seen yet. Good idea. I think I would put a piece of wood between the legs to keep them even.

Ha. The vid has been right here all this time. :) Yes a piece of wood between the legs would help a lot I think.

Great idea. You are the best. I like your methods. You use what you have and it is functional. It shows it does not have to be pretty like in Fine Woodworking.
What kind of sharpening stone do you have there?

no offense, but you can buy a honing guide for about 10 bucks, then place sandpaper on glass, to get a flat edge to sand.

Maybe you could figure out a way to make a hand drill lathe. Wife won't let me buy a lathe. We just don't have the money. We are on a fixed income. Thank you.

Very resourceful approach, thanks for sharing it.
I too have struggled with the problem of sharpening blades and I thought I had solved it with a gadget very similar to yours but with wheels instead of legs that allowed me to run the blade up and down the length of the stone. However, it is becoming apparent that the plane blades are becoming more convex with each sharpening, as more material is being removed from the outer edges. My stone was new when I started using this method so I assume it was flat, I just don't understand why it is making my blades convex. It's making my rebate plane almost useless.
Any tips for overcoming this problem? Have you noticed anything like this with your set up?

The only thing that I can guess - imagine you have a small bump on your wheel. The very moment the bump touches the surface - the blade touches the stone just with its edge ... . It is very hard to make perfectly round wheels. Stay with sticks like Philip

The music you use is the same as the one used in Tales of Maj'eyal. do you play that game? or did you simply find that song online?

It is a creative commons piece from Celestial Aeon Project, and not sure which of- Virtue lost, Mind's Eye, and Sing Of Mourning you might be referring to. But yeah maybe, I do not know the game. Since it has a creative Commons licience maybe they use it too.

@@PhilipStephens007 oh yeah it does. In the game it's called virtue lost if I recall correctly.
