F1 cars didnt used to run half the season without technic problems. That was normal for then. Specially in the midfield, hamilton did fight for the championship in his debute season, vettel won a race in a midfield car. Magnussen had a podium on his debut win, nico hulkenberg had a pole position in his debut season with a backmarker car. Oscar piastri has a sprint race win in his debute season

But that was the same Newey designed chassis Red Bull used that year, just adjusted for the Ferrari engine instead of Renault, that was allowed before 2010

Torro rosso and red bull used renault power units until 2017 and 2018 respectively, where the following year they switched to honda. Renault pu's were both underpowered and unreliable compared to the competition, especially mercedes pretty much through the whole time renault and bulls worked together
