My first type of longer form content so bare with me. I have More Crash Retrospectives coming Apologies for some of the editing, my editing software crashed on me!
Dude...Space Bash. EVERYONE loves Space Bash. Every time I play this game with my siblings, Space Bash is among the first levels we play. And we have a blast every time.
Good video, watched all of it. You've understated how difficult it is to 200% this game, platinum relics crank up the AI to ultra hard level. I was never able to get more than a couple plat relics as a kid, but glad I didn't miss out of any unlocks.
The AI cheats so hard in the later level, my brother and I Tried beating the game a few years ago, figuring we would be better at the game vs when we were kids. There were some levels where we were about to win and then suddenly the AI starts kicking our butts.
Yo, thanks for covering Crash Bash, specially in the way I "kinda" see it It has so potential, and it was fun. But man, the frustation and the pain was real. For me this is the worst case scenario, you can hate bad games, love good games, but this is a game that you like and dream to be better.
i remember being a kid and and putting HOURS into this game , playing it both solo and two player was fun for me i used to spend a lot of time with my 2 cousins and all 3 of us loved this game, but we didnt have ( and even werent aware of ) that boomerang thingy that is used to play with more than 2 players at the time, so all the time we were competing , two of us would play and then the loser of the match would give his controller to the one who wasnt playing, and because of being able to win more in order to play more we mastered the game and all the time we would argue who is better at the game, i know it just rehashes the existing mini games but when you ABSOLUTELY LOVE those mini games instead of being bored you actually become excited to play it with a different flavor, this game alongside crash team racing was a HUGE part of our childhood and because of that i will never stop loving crash bash thank you for doing this game justice 👍
I loved it through and through. It was like Rubik's cube that was played and solved by everyone in the house. And yeah, I was able to play the co-op with my sister and uncle, but mostly uncle. All the super secret levels were such a spicy add-ins that they really made the road to the 200% worth it.
Another great video! I actually really liked crash bash as a kid, now as I'm older I understand how repetitive it is, the fact that most of the levels were locked from the start annoyed me as a kid. My brother and I did a two player playthrough of adventure mode back in the day (choosing Brio for me & Cortex for him) and we had the evil ending, it was pretty cool to see how evil could actually win. There isn't enough crash bash content online, I recall maybe Caddicarus's old video review on it & Tharixers speedrun on Crash Bash, good to see more Crash Bash content!
I still play this with friends... It's coming out soon again for a house warming! 20 years strong. I'm known for spamming cortex's laugh taunt whenever I can. First loser takes a drink.
I remember this game!!! I think I still have my ps1 copy, I just never actually finished it bc I sucked (and still suck) at video games 😅 my brain just said ‘oooooh CRASH!!!!’ And I kept playing. I was the same way with Spyro lmao excellent video! You definitely earned a sub here! Keep up the awesome work!
More like a remake with nearly the same roster of characters as CTR Nitro Fueled or Crash Team Rumble (possibly), and more content like Nitro Fueled had.
If I were to remake BASH, I would focus on tackling the lengthy/repetitive gameplay the most and implement the following for adventure mode (in multiplayer, you will be able to customize it however you want): (A) 1 min round time rather than 1.5, (B) two consecutive win streak needed to get the trophy (and remove both gold and platinum relics, because this requirement comrbines both), (C) for challenges that aren't time based, like the balls, I would reduce your starting ball count. I would also allow you to complete story mode alone, if the second player decided to stop half-way through. This way, you won't have to repeat the whole levels you've already beaten. Add more challenges and characters. Implement modifications to boring smash levels (such as the drain dash). And of course, better controls for racing levels. Color customization option for the balloon challenge (being color blind, it was impossible for me to distinguish yellow and green balloons). Graphic upgrades, obviously, more elaborative and longer cutscenes. And an optional auto-save. And online multiplayer mode that is not required for trophy collectors.
I remember playing Adventure Mode and never finishing it because it got so repetitive. It was frustrating that so much content in a party game was locked away. Hence, when I had friends over and we wanted to play a 4-player party game, we tended to play Bishi Bashi Special over this. BBS had all of it's minigames available from the start.
Dude my favorite streamer is playing a fan remake of this game. The characters are kinda weird but it has new stages, new characters, and a lot of interesting changes.
I still remember the first time I played Dot Dash. I laughed so hard because of the play And since then, it becomes my top 3 gameplay. After Ball and Bash levels
I never fully competed this game, it took years for me to be able to get everything that was required to unlock the stages of Warp Room 5, as much as I loved the game it definitely didn't come without its frustrations, not only the repetitiveness but I couldn't agree more on the Crash Dash stages, the only set of stages where each game is completely different is the Medieval Mayhem set, once I unlocked all the stages I gave up trying to get everything but I knew I wasn't missing anything following that
I can tell you that the 200%, especially with any Bandicoots is Bandihard. Speedrunners do take the muscle heads Koala Kong or Tiny Tiger as they are the Easiest characters to play as. The N. Duo (Cortex and Brio) are both the equivalent of Normal difficulty. Like I said for the Bandicoots, they are hard to play, but I did said 200% with Coco. As for Dingodile/Rilla Roo, They are the Jack-of-all trades master of none (AKA "joatmon") that aren't good anywhere (and are sometimes WORSE than the bandicoots) Also, the 200% completion doesn't help the fact that CPUs also hit harder than normal (the same crate thrown by Koala Kong would deal about 15% more dmg, or CPUs having more optimized "plays")
Had no idea there were extra scenes for mixed alignment, thought I knew everything about Crash back then. But I suppose if there was anywhere they could successfully hide something, it would be behind friggin' co-op.
So here are some fun facts hidden from the player about this game (thanks to the debug menu found in early copies). The characters all have hidden stats the game never tells you, for example... you can adjust the AI movement speed in the crate, medieval and dash levels, the damage counter in the tank and crate levels, their weight in the polar levels, the AI targeting system - set to target the player more - and a difficulty rank, ranking from 0 to 20. The one used for hard is 15 but in Adventure Mode for relics, it's between 19 to 20. Though some crystals are so ridiculously hard they put the difficulty below 10 such as Pogo Padlock, lol. They made the AI proudly cheat in this game except in the Ball levels, besides the ridiculous crystal stipulations it all comes down to skill.
I never forgot this game personally was always one of my favourites i remember as it reminded me of games like mario party on the N64 at the time and i didnt have my own N64 so this was a good replacement for me. Although i notice its a pretty flawed game at times now im older if anyone has seen Caddicarus 200% run of it youll see.
@@sourcefreak7997 So you're saying that the Crash trilogy + CTR, Spyro trilogy, Jak & Daxter trilogy and Ratchet & Clank 4 games were unpolished? Cus all of these had back to back games each year and still hold up super well today. All the game breaks speedrunners find are non-intrusive to the casual player and just a benefit to speedrunning.
@@KoopaXross i didn’t mean it that way. I meant that a longer development time increases the chance that the game will be good. Those examples were just exceptions. Nowadays game developers try to make huge open world games and stuff, that takes a long time to develop. Back then, you could get away with using the previous game as a base, and build upon it. Nowadays sequels get backlash if they use the previous one as a base, which makes it feel more like DLC then a fully new game that’s worth paying the full price.
@@KoopaXrossYeah, literally CTR was made in like 8 months and is one of the best games i ever played. Thats why i never buy a rushed development as an excuse from the developers.
Crash bash was good game to bad they didn’t want to remake or remastered like n sane trilogy and ctrnf to as well second we won’t be getting no more remakes 😒
Crash Bash is a game that I stopped enjoying. The AI is horrible, which zapped the fun out of the game. Adventure mode just tried to be something it's not. I say this game shouldn't be remade, but rather, have the minigames as unlockable bonus content in a future Crash game. Similar to how you unlocked minigames in Super Mario 64 DS.
"Did they succeed? Well, not completely"....Because being in the top 40 most sold games on the best available console is such a failure. So sad Eurocom didn't do a good game like Bubsy 3D. Dude, it clearly is long and repetitive, but just play Snow Go, Snow Biz and Crash Dash, or Hang Em High, High time and Flamming Passion, to see the most sold and loved Crash games are the same...even worse! They are all about breaking boxes and running between enemies.

This was the hardest Crash Bandicoot game to complete at that time.
