Thanks a lot for this vid bro. Fixed all the passenger seat power motors in my 89 535i in one afternoon with this fix. So glad it was so straightforward.
Incredible! All I did was to move the car seat all the way back. Then I leaned the seat to the point where it was straight. I then wiggled the cable shown in this video (I did not removed anything at all). Finally I tried once more to bring the seat back to position and it worked! I had been driving with a twisted seat for a couple of months, this video saved the day for me. THANK YOU kindly! Took me two minutes literally.
I could not get it even, so I just lowered it all the way until they evened out, moved seat forward, disconnect, pulled the two back bolts, lifted off the hooks and removed, that was all (94 e34 530i sedan), the seatbelt bike shifter-like cable was already undone, I think I am missing the connector, just left the upper belt attached and rotated the seat out and rested it on the doorframe face down. I torched the steel by the top left motor (I had a left side twist) pulled out the cable, trimmed the plastic, heat the steel nub, reinserted plastic, crimped a bit, reinstalled seat, connected, and nearly perfect, 20-25 minutes in and out, next time I'll trim and fix the other cables, but this was a fine first attempt and 95% fix that non-e34 fanatics won't notice. Thanks! Your vid plus the 11min e39 one and the 7min e34 one all together got me covered wonderfully.
Good informative video. Did on mine (did not cut the part just pushed the cable into the motor)but then after some days it inclined again, well seems it needs a lot of work as previous owner changed the whole cable.Anyways Thanks.
Thanks for the video, very clear! I have a question for you about your seats' leather: is it original or custom made? I ask because I've always seen leather seats with horizontal seams on E34, but mine one has black leather and vertical seams like yours (like all fabric E34 seats). Had some E34 been produced with leather seats and vertical seams? Thanks
My 1995 525i had the same problem that passenger's left shoulder would not move forward in the beginning and then motor is noising but no moving for both twisted shoulders. I do not know how to adjust the shoulder back to even position and then fix the cable rod head. Could you help. Thank you so much.
So I have a 1990 525i , and the passenger seat the recline part is twisted , it won’t come back up from being twisted , do I need to have the seat all the way up to do complete the process , or can I have the seat twisted , thank you
I just flamed the silver clamp, pulled out out the cable, trimmed rubber, put it back in, clamped the silver thing, added some heat, done....cable is a pain in the balls to move around....2003 e39
+Tflops thank you very much for the fast reply. i got the twisted seat of death lol so agitated with my e34 i have been having a lot of problems. i just want it to run good for a week without nothing going bad 😂
+Tflops the video helped fixed my problem!! thanks!! i do have one question. my car wants to stall when in neutral, runs fine when it runs its just when i come to a stop. have you had a problem like this? any idea?
That's it?. My back recliner is so twisted for years now and I just don't what to do!. I mean both front seats. And you say this small remedy will fix?. My e34 is about 5000 miles away from where I am now but I will get to it in a few months from now to tackle this task. Thank you in advance. John.

It is original. I believe the way it's stitched depends on the option of material and color.
@@Creesic Thanks! :)

why do u have to heat up the wire? also, do you have to disconnect the battery before u do all of this? is it necessary to take off the seat?
So you can get the collar back on
No, you don't have to.
I don't see how you'd reach it without removing the seat.
I just flamed the silver clamp, pulled out out the cable, trimmed rubber, put it back in, clamped the silver thing, added some heat, done....cable is a pain in the balls to move around....2003 e39
Best way to heat the metal piece?
A jet style lighter worked for me.
Ah, okay. I assumed but lighters make me anxious so I was hoping for a different response😂
Did you put the cable thing back for the seat belt thing lmao
Fairly certain I did for the driver's side.
so the top wire is the one causing the twisted seat?
Correct. Top wire on the right side because the right side of the seat wouldn't move up or down.

It's an old car, man. It'll have issues. But when it runs perfectly, then it's one of the best cars ever.

Sorry, I've been without Internet for 4 days. That can be a lot of things. You'd have to pull stuff apart and test it yourself, or bring it to a shop.

John.
+John S Asmah Yep! This is generally the most common solution to this issue.

Thanks for your fast reply.
No problem. Just ask if you have any more questions, or check the E34 section on Bimmerforums.
Did you ever fix it?
"Forwards" lol
