My father passed away this past October and left my brother and I with a 1972 Plymouth Duster and a 1965 Plymouth Fury. He had to be at least the second owner of the Duster. My brother was born in '72 and he was no older than 2 y/o when we went with Dad to trade a car he had for the Duster so around 1974. I'm quite sure that he bought the Fury brand new. He was in the process of restoring the Fury for a third time just before he passed. Now the Duster just needs a good waxing. Both cars run.
Sorry to hear that Brother...but you have to keep the cars up...or sell them...you don't want them to just deteriorate...thanks for taking the time to check this one out!
my mom had a duster in the 80s. It was used, stick shift, and the brown looked like something you flushed. She got rid of it because the peddle used to get stuck. Going down the highway one day. It decided to get stuck. Before we knew it, we were almost under the back of a tractor trailes bumper. To her quick thinking she put it in neutral and we coasted to a stop on the side. She kicked it then got out and used her hand. She got rid of it few days later. Someone got a bargin
Lucky man I had a drunk kid hit mine at 90 mph flipped on it's side ,I asked a friend to take it to a repair garage the garage took it to a scrap yard and crushed it after they took out the 3 thousand dollar engine I put in it. sad time all the way around have never gotten over it very nice car you have.
Man i love this duster..that color is really nice. Dusters are more on the affordable side and look just as good as anything out there. Light body cars with style and a 340..cant go wrong. I love mine.
I've got a '72 myself...my 2nd Mopar. More folks seem to gravitate towards the other models (at least in my area) than to a Duster, but hey...to each their own :) ░▒▓█▄▀▄▀▄▀
Sorry to hear that Brother..My Dad broke his back in a Motorcycle accident over 40 years ago..I have some videos I shot last year on his Can Am Spyder...back riding after 40 years..thanks for supporting my channel Brother!
Gorgeous car!! I have a 69 Rt Charger and a 70 Runner but the car i want is that exact screaming small block right there. 52 yrs old and wanted one since i was 18. Tim you just pissed my wife off. I am going on a 340 Duster Hunt and she wont be happy
If you like A-bodies, search "1971 valiant super bee" online and maybe you are gonna love that car (only produced ln Mexico) looks like a duster but it is a very different car. I have a 72.
I think he's a bit confused on a few things, 72 had a couple of different tail light options. Unless those tail lights were part of the trim option with the grill. Also I don't think all 340 cars had the sharkstooth grill but I maybe the one wrong about that.
Those were the only tail lights available on the '72. The light argent paint is correct for all. The 70-71 lights were shorter and as he mentioned had a horizontal metal dividing strip as part of the metal tail panel. '73 through '76 were quite different.
As always, Nice job Scottie covering this Bad Ass 340 Duster. Whats so nice about this one is it looks just the way I remember them. nothing added nothing taken away. Thanks Scottie
That '72 340 Duster is a sweetheart of a car! I own the Bride of Frankenstein, modified combination Duster and Barracuda '71&'72 everything except the '76 Duster body. It's registered as a 76 Duster & the exterior looks like it except for the side mirrors. That 340 Wedge rebuilt engine with about 24,000 miles on it is worth more than the whole car. I love the car. I don't care what it's worth; I love it! I'm 59 and the car will be around after I'm stinkin' in a casket.
'70-'71 Duster 340 engines rated at 275 h.p., with 10.75 c.r. '72 Duster 340 engines rated at 240 h.p., with 8.6 c.r. '73 Duster 340 engines rated at 215 h.p., not sure on c.r. '72 340s had the Thermoquad carb. Bumperetts must have been opt., as I didn't see them on my order sheet. Mine is a Black ext., Black bucket seat center console int, Black Vinyl top with 37,000 orig. mi., orig owner. Great car...... Jim .
Damn'it this is a nice car. I got a 74 dart sport which is pretty much the same thing and there are so many things about this car that I wish my car had. For instance the tail lights on the 70-72 look so much better. And the door panel trim being metal vs shitty plastic.
Correct. I actually decided to call Centerline and ask for these wheels. they do not stock them anymore, but will make them on a per-request basis. Centerline Pro Stock wheel.
I have a 72 Demon that I am restoring and I came through a few of your videos. What cars you you have yourself? The coolest thing I have seen in your videos was that Plain Gray Charger with that sick grill on the car show.
Yep im already getting yelled at. THANKS ALOT!! LOL!! SHE said sell one of the others. Yea sure sweetheart. Anyhow.. Thanks again man. You have done the dusters justice
I'm not sure that is an original 340 Duster instrument panel. I have a 1970 Duster 340 but it's not an original 340 car. Mine has a square instrument panel like his but the original 340 cars had round gauges. No biggie, just sayin'.
They did come with 8 track. My dad had a "72 and it had the 9 track. Seeing this car in such beautiful shape is amazing. Love this car
Thanks for checking it out!!
Everything about that car is sweet. Would be proud to own that.
Beautiful car.

I don't know how he could resist doing a big smoky burnout with all that parking lot there.
I think he's a bit confused on a few things, 72 had a couple of different tail light options. Unless those tail lights were part of the trim option with the grill. Also I don't think all 340 cars had the sharkstooth grill but I maybe the one wrong about that.

Love Mopar...
Cool...Thanks for checking this one out here...I have shot several...You can use the search on ScottieDTV.com to make finding them easier!
I'm not sure that is an original 340 Duster instrument panel. I have a 1970 Duster 340 but it's not an original 340 car. Mine has a square instrument panel like his but the original 340 cars had round gauges. No biggie, just sayin'.
+CurseTheDawn They had the round gauges until 72. I had two of these, same panel. It definitely looked better in 71!
The Rallye dash was an option. My 70 340 had the valiant dash and emblems.
So many options
all 72 dusters came with the generic dash cluster . the rallye dash with tach and 150 mph speedo was only available in 70 and 71 dusters .
