  • I'm baaaack and I've got some Tandy Radio Shack goodness for you. Welcome to my first #SepTandy video ever. Today, we'll begin the journey of restoring and upgrading a 16k #TRS-80 Color Computer 2.
Be sure to watch to the end for a special announcement!
Yet again, I've had family matters keeping me occupied, so I haven't posted a video for a while. The last couple of days, I've had some free time, so I got my retro on and churned this one out for you.
Through this SepTandy series, we'll do a deep clean and possibly some retrobrighting, re-cap the board (just future-proofing), upgrade the 16k RAM to 64k, upgrade the CPU, mod it for composite output using the UVD (Universal Video Driver) which was reverse engineered from the Mark Data product of the 80's, add Bluetooth for loading cassette image software and anything else we can think of to put some new life back in this classic machine.
    Hope you enjoy the video!
    Thank you for watching
    Todd

Awesome #SepTandy video! Nicely done on your CoCo 2 cleanup and restoration. I was happy to see you left in the footage of needing to redo the keyboard. We've all made mistakes in these sorts of things, so by keeping that in your video, it shows people what can happen and how to avoid it. I'm looking forward to seeing your follow up video on this macine.

Why, thank you, sir! Yeah, I make lots of mistakes. I've decided it's best to leave them in so maybe someone else will learn from me screwing up.

Looking forward to part deux! I know all too well what a loved oone with health issues can do to one's schedule, and glad to hear it seems to be on a good track.

Great video!! I got a Coco 2 a couple years ago and upgraded it to 64k. Still need to install an Extended BASIC ROM in mine. Thanks for the content!

Great #SepTandy video. My favorite month as my first intro to comps was TRS-80 Model III.
Do you have a list of all the tools you use? I know you are only at this for less than a year, but some of us are still fairly new to restoration and knowing what works for others is helpful.
Also, you pointed out the converter you use to connect to TV and I checked the description for a link to get one. I can easily search, but also knowing which one you have already confirmed working is another helpful tidbit.
    Keep up the great work!

I'll work on a list of the tools I use. The link for the RF adapter is below. Thanks for watching.

Thanks so much for that link! I found similar, but like I said it is really nice knowing I'll get one that I can reasonably rely on.@@YARC-1981
