  • Geoffrey Bodine almost lost his life in a violent wreck in the inaugural truck race at Daytona earlier in 2000. 11 weeks later, he was back in a racecar. Not only that, he qualified an amazing 4th in his #60 Power Team Chevy. Geoffrey went on to run in the top 10 for most of the race. He made some "rookie" mistakes as he admitted, stalling the car leaving the pits, and later pitting too soon while running 3rd. He was still moving his way up through the field.
However, Geoffrey could not finish the race. With his brother Todd crashed out of his #91 car earlier in the race, Todd jumped into the car a little past halfway through. Unfortunately, the team waited too late in the caution to make the change. They lost two laps in the process.
Not wanting to give up, Todd made up his two laps the hard way thanks to being at the front at several restarts and passing the leader on his own. He eventually got back on the lead lap and finished 13th.
I think that is a testament on how good that #60 car was that night where both Geoffrey and Todd Bodine ran so strong. It was wonderful to see Geoffrey be able to run up front for so long just not that long after he almost lost his life.
Unfortunately, Geoffrey Bodine would later be released from the #60 car after the fall Richmond race. The team would not survive into 2001.

I totally forgot that Todd hopped in the #60 after crashing out in the #91 earlier in the race.

    Todd/Geoffrey's efforts got them a 13th.
