This goes along with some of the things I've been thinking about recently. I recently did an Jungian analysis of Solas and theorised that he thinks he's at the hero's stage of returning to the place of origin, that place being Elvhenan. But he could still be at the trial part and this is the pivotal moment where he either becomes corrupt and a demon, becoming the villain, or he realises what is going on, he reconciles his shadow self and becomes a hero, the spirit he was always meant to be. This was a fascinating video and it pulled at my heart strings, especially with Cole's dialogue in there.
DISCLAIMER: This is a theory, I could be totally wrong, and for the sake of all the scary Sollavelen fangirls out there, I hope I did alright detailing this intricate theory!

His romance nearly broke me but I always return to him because I love all the little ways he has of showing who he really is, without anyone around being the wiser. I believe she sought to get in the way of their greed, I think andruil may have been one of the first to stumble across red lyrium and used it excessively thus becoming slightly corrupted, she shared this with the rest of the evanuris who took it and falsely deemed themselves as gods and began treating the elves in a much worse fashion, killing them and taking slaves. Mythal saw this and tried to get in the way and thus got herself killed in the process

I honestly think that Skyhold was Solas's castle. If he was that important he would have a castle and also he was feeling good in Halamshiral (and he likes frily cakes) so he was taking a part in a nobility life, I think. Also if he was the one who held the sky and this is a SKYHOLD, well I think it's legit.
It was his castle, it’s where he created the veil. I’m pretty sure they have confirmed that. It’s called skyhold because it is literally where he held back the sky
So technically, "the maker" (unknown to the humans within the chantry) is Solas in many ways! @7:03 All that stuff they give the maker credit for in terms of the veil and fade... even the elves aging. So many assumed it was contact with humans that caused this. But it was when Solas separated things, that caused it. And it just happened to be around the same time humans began swarming into the area Elves lived in. A theory of mine... the reason humans did not seem to swoop in ("swooping is bad" - Alistair LOL) until around the same time Solas divided things... I believe that humans existed on other continents and could not see or know of the land elves lived on, because the fade and magic of the land protected it. Much like a veil in and of itself. Once Solas changed that, the land became visible for humans to know about and come in on. And then we know the rest. Elves begin aging. They become enslaved. So on & so forth. I feel bad. Because all Solas wanted to do was break the chains and cast system of elven society. Show those on the low end, who were basically slaves of their own people, that the high-ups were not actually Gods and could be stood up to. And instead his actions caused more harm than good. Good intentions with mistakes made/bad outcomes. You'd think he'd learned his lesson. But nope! He's about to do more damage LOL
You make high quality videos using the free camera tool. The lore content is mostly correct. There are a few slight points I would make. First, it's true that demons can be created when twisted from purpose. It's also true they can be twisted if pulled through the veil against their will, such as when rifts open in various locations in Inquisition. However, some spirits do choose to become demons if they prefer to emulate the darker aspects of emotion. So I would point out that some demons are that way from the start. Second, the Chantry "history" or belief does mention a time before the veil, there just isn't much stated on this era yet. It is said that the Maker took a measure of the Fade's essence and made the real world with it. This would necessarily take place before the veil, as the veil separates Fade from Real. The Chant doesn't directly state the Maker created the veil (unless I'm forgetting some important part), but I think it's just implied. Third, the elvhen kingdoms existed before a veil cut them off, but I think it's premature to conclude the veil did not exist at all during this era. It's possible the veil existed, just not in areas in which the elvhen kingdoms existed. Forth, I'm not sure the evanuris made their own bodies from the earth. Cole's statement could apply to the evanuris creating dwarves from the earth. But it's possible the evanuris took physical form in the Crossroads dimension. It's possible all the first elves did this. But I don't rule out the possibility that the first evanuris made bodies from the earth. The elven lore implies this was the case, though Mythal is said to have come from the sea. Fifth, as with point #3, I think it's too early to conclude that the veil didn't exist during the Elvhen Era. It's possible the veil existed to keep Fade and Real separate on a global scale, but did not exist in certain areas, which the elvhen used to build kingdoms that existed in the Crossroads, which is a space between Fade and Real, benefiting from both. It's possible Solas only discovered the veil and figured out how to use that magic to close those gaps. We should also consider the fact that Solas has demonstrated little control over the veil thus far. At best he is a Rift Mage, which our mage Inquisitors can be as well as few other mages not seen in the game. Otherwise Solas needs an orb or the magic locked away in the elvhen ruins to have any real effect on the veil. This suggests Solas is only able to manipulate the veil to varying degrees, not command it absolutely. Had he created the veil, I would think he would have better mastery over it, yet even at the end of Trespasser he is unable to bring the veil down himself. He still needs more time to find a way. I just don't see the entire veil coming down. That would basically reset Thedas as we know it. More likely, there will be specific areas of Thedas that will be "restored" to what they were in the days of Elvhenan and Arlathan, and our characters will be able to travel to those areas to explore and battle. But the basis of the human world will endure. Most of Ferelden will be fine. Free Marches too (except Kirkwall, which is always a mess). Nevarra will probably be okay. Orlais, not so much. Tevinter will likely take it on the chin, seeing as how Tevinter is built on the "bones" of the elvhen kingdoms. So when the veil opens, it will likely be over parts of the world in which the elvhen occupied, mostly in Tevinter, parts of Orlais, and down to the Haven/Skyhold region. The Darvaarad in Trespasser seems to be among those islands between Seheron and Par Vollen. I think BioWare is trying to say that structure was once elvhen. So maybe the Veil will come down in this region as well.
"though Mythal is said to have come from the sea. " Yes in Dalish Legend...The Dalish who believe Solas is an Evil God who brought ruin to the Evanuris and Forgotten Ones. Who believe Tevinter wiped out their ancient empire. Who think Falon'Din is a merciful person. etc. I think it's safe to say that isn't a valid source of information any longer. Yep Justice seemingly willingly turned into Vengeance in DA2 so he and Anders could effectively combat the Templars. So yeah Spirits can decide to change. Cole can do it too. But Solas if he's a Spirit doesn't seem to have changed willingly he's suffered and that has effected his personality and very being. He probably turned into a Demon when he lost control of his emotions once Mythal was murdered. "Had he created the veil, I would think he would have better mastery over it, yet even at the end of Trespasser he is unable to bring the veil down himself. He still needs more time to find a way. " Of which he explained he LOST his powers. 8000 years of slumber drains away his magic. This is probably what Uthenera is meant to do. If they kept their magic in slumber they could be possessed or corrupted by magical uncontrollable energy build up. He powered down and lost his magic that completely explains why he can't force the Veil down or turn it off immediately. He has to regain God-like Magical abilities that I doubt just appear naturally otherwise every Mage would be a "God". It's gonna come down I'm calling it now. Fully gone at some point. My guess is a final choice event or at the very beginning the entire game is about the effects and consequences of it.
@Flames of Chaos But the Dalish legends usually have some slight truth to them. Where did they get the idea that Mythal came from the ocean? It's possible that legend is derived from a real event. Solas might not be a "god", but he is technically on the evil path. Thinking Tevinter wiped out Elvhenan is just a historical error on the Dalish's part. It was a natural conclusion seeing as how Tevinter enslaved the early generations of cutoff elvhen. How do you know Falon'Din isn't a merciful person? Because Solas told you a story? The Vir Dirthara claims he opposed Elgar'nan, who was known for being a hothead who smites people. Maybe Falon'Din wasn't so bad. The Dalish are a valid source of theorizing, though their tales are not proven fact. Yeah, Solas lost his powers, but that doesn't mean he can't show better mastery of the veil. He tells us in the dream meeting that he attempted (several times) to seal the Breach but couldn't. Seems like he couldn't even close rifts. Yet the Hero of Ferelden/Warden Commander was closing rifts in the Blackmarsh with Justice's help. And what about when Solas "killed" Flemeth? He seemed to have some power then. And in Trespasser he seems plenty strong. Yet all he can do is collapse the mark, disintegrating your arm in the process. Uthenera might weaken an elf, but magic is more about knowledge than power. Solas should have known how to collapse part of the veil if he created it, even if he was not as powerful as before. And by Trespasser he's gained a great amount of power. Why can't he tear down the veil at that point? Again, I think veil magic is more about knowing the magical procedure, rather than having a lot of mana. Your Trainer knows the way and can teach it. Like learning blood magic, sort of. It isn't a question of power, it's a question of how to make those magical results manifest. In Your Trainer's case, she wasn't prepared for the surge of magic, and that caused brain damage. So there's clearly a right way, a wrong way, and in the cases of most mages, no known way to manipulate the veil despite how much power/mana they have. I'm sure the same is true of blood magic. It isn't a matter of cutting yourself and shooting mana into your blood. There is a process. A formula. Perhaps words, motions, or thoughts involved. Seems to me Solas only knows how to tweak the veil, not control it. He can't take it down and he can't create it. If the entire veil comes down, then Thedas won't exist anymore. I don't think BioWare is going to scrap all of it's world-building and most of its characters.
i have a theory what if solas we know or think we know is just someone possessed by solas like mythal and flemeth he just seems to smart to be revealed by inquisition i mean even ancient elven didn't relay know who solas is also i don't think that evanuris need body at all i think its like advance state of being but i like your theory u should do one of ancient elven and dwarfs i think they lived together at one point plus there is evidence that they have magic once like fairel or Valta after the titan
What if Solas was an ancient elf but like the rite of tranquility where someone is touched by a spirit and granted abilities. Solas became Fen’Harel is who he became after that ritual?
Solas isnt wisdom. None of his choices were smart. Every time cole says he wants to share wisdom. He does not say he actually has any. If you look at solas actions words he is valor never backing from a fight leading a army of slaves. He takes the name pride and stand tall solas means both it was to inspire the slaves. Also mythal a spirit of justice qoes well with valour. Lastly corrupted valour becomes dread. A dread wolf thst is why it was an insult by his enemies.
I’ve been asking myself this q for a while and i dont know if it’s already been answered but if Solas wanted to tear down the veil all along, why was he asking us to activate those ancient artifacts that are spread around the worlds? Didn’t he say it was to strengthen the veil? If so, why did he ask us to do it? He didn’t have to bring it up at all. I wonder if there’s any alternate meaning or if it’s a plot hole. I pray it isn’t
I’ve got two theory’s for that, either they are linking devices which connected directly to the veil which would allow him to bring it down a lot easier, or they strengthened the fade which would strengthen his power so ripping down the veil would be a lot easier for him considering he was weakened by thousands of years in uthenera and also the lack of the fade. Or he could’ve placed them thousands of years ago to actually strengthen the veil once he created it, I mean he probably wanted the inquisitor to activate them to stop tears in the veil because they hadn’t yet defeated corypheus and bringing down the veil now would mean it would benefit him rather than solas.
I believe that solas was always a spirit of pride and he was born from Mythals pride in her people. Spirits can change their very purpose and I think he always sought out to become wisdom after learning that wisdom can become pride, he took it as a challenge but since wisdom isn’t something you can become but something you will always gain he failed, and thus Mythal offered him a body and a place at her side, I don’t think he instantly got rid of the vallaslin, but burned it off once mythal was murdered and he did the same after freeing the elves from the evanuris’ slavery
This is a brilliant piece Jack. Shows how Solas's story and path is really a tragic one. So, he got asked by a dear friend to perform a task, role, form of help that he didn't really want to. Took on a new form and saw the corruption of the "Gods" Then that dear friend was killed and he ends up becoming a figure of rebellion, protection and leadership for the people. To then becoming the own that tricked and sealed away the Gods, cutting off the world and fade from each other, and damning his people later centuries of enslavement, poverty, death and the raping of their history. To now finding himself concluding that he has to destroy the world he has come to love to make right or bring back what once was. And it all started with being asked by a friend for help and wanting to do so.
Overall I think it's an interesting theory, but I can't say I agree. It rests for a large part on the assumption that Solas came from the fade and is now possessing a body. When asked of this, Solas literally said 'No, this is all I have ever been.' So it seems dubious that this would be the case. It's just as likely that Cole meant Solas was a wanderer even back then, happily spending his time in the fade and sharing what he learned there (a seemingly common pastime for the wise in Elvhenan) and that Mythal asked him to advice and serve her in a time of need, drawing him away from that. For another, this theory rests on I think an outdated assumption of what spirits and demons are. Recall that Solas is always the first to point out the spirits can be incredibly complex and should be treated as people in full. Furthermore, the many Vir Dirthara entries we find in Trespasser suggest that spirits and Elvhen as a whole more of a spectrum than to seperate creatures. Some would take on bodies, some would not. Regardless their forms were malleable. This all to say that to *still* try to understand Solas is 'absolute' terms kind of goes against the entire point his character was trying to make. Just my two cents. Gotta love the effort you put into compiling the evidence and presenting it. Audio is great too.
So Solas is a whole person for you. How do you explain his behavior? Is the Dread wolf only a name? That would be to easy i think. And how can he fight against himself or do you thing his personality splits. Or do you compare him to cullen? Solas said: Solas was first the dread wolf came later. would he say that if the dread wolf was only a name?
Personally I think he was a spirit of pride who was given his body after Mythal offered him a place at her side. I think a lot of spirits were given bodies, they were constructed for them not possessed by them. Much like how the spirit of compassion became Cole once Cole died, he didn’t possess his body but he inherited it. However Cole was already a living human, but I think solas’s body was made for him
@@garethharris8732 It was just a joke mate calm. I'm just saying Solas isn't the Maker he himself doesn't believe in "Gods" at all because he knows better. And the Chant never claimed the Maker created the Veil. Literally no evidence supports this claim even the character himself would hate it.

Would explain how he knows a spirit of wisdom
I'm happy for this 🙌😁 video
Love it! Thank you!
"
Yes in Dalish Legend...The Dalish who believe Solas is an Evil God who brought ruin to the Evanuris and Forgotten Ones.
"
Of which he explained he LOST his powers.
Great video! Love it 🥰
Dragon Age 4 come out next year right
almost sure it's next year at June.
Nothing's known, but I wouldn't bet on it being so soon; more likely to be at least a couple years away
@@connorbrown7248 as you said, nothing known. So I dunno
Is this a rumour :O I hope it doess 💕💕
dianna k Sad part is, you're probably right :(
Your videos are awesome 🙂
"Solas" in Irish means "light" :P
That's cool!!!!
He could be a type of mage called a dreamer
*and chuckles*
I like this theory!
Eff U, JD!! Using Cole’s narration at the beginning. Painfully beautiful video. 😭😭😭. *curls up in fetal position*.
Not to mention..... this all makes soooooo much sense!
Also....can you please start working for BioWare?!
Hahaha aww thank you so much!!!
If The virtue of Humility counters the sin of Pride ,then where does Wisdom come from as the opposite of Solas' name?
I believe that solas was always a spirit of pride and he was born from Mythals pride in her people. Spirits can change their very purpose and I think he always sought out to become wisdom after learning that wisdom can become pride, he took it as a challenge but since wisdom isn’t something you can become but something you will always gain he failed, and thus Mythal offered him a body and a place at her side, I don’t think he instantly got rid of the vallaslin, but burned it off once mythal was murdered and he did the same after freeing the elves from the evanuris’ slavery
I love my egg
This theory is not new, but it's still a well made video.
I never stated it was a new theory... thanks
So they were once spirits
This is a brilliant piece Jack. Shows how Solas's story and path is really a tragic one.
So, he got asked by a dear friend to perform a task, role, form of help that he didn't really want to.
Took on a new form and saw the corruption of the "Gods"
Then that dear friend was killed and he ends up becoming a figure of rebellion, protection and leadership for the people.
Afther Anthem they better not fuck up Dragon Age
You have such a nice voice?
Really? Thank you!! :)
However Cole was already a living human, but I think solas’s body was made for him
I find DAI characters way less interesting than those of DA:O and DA2. But Solas is definitely the best character in the game.
Definitely!
Where was that Cole quote from? I don't remember him saying that in DAI
Which one?? He said many of these in the Trespasser DLC
I personally think Solas is the maker and he created the darkspawn, the archdeamons are the old elvhen gods trapped into dragons and corrupted
Solas- I'm NOT a "God".
Solas Fangirls- Oh My God he's the Maker!
Me- 😒
Flames Of Chaos
-Not female
-Not a solas fan
- Don’t think he is a “god”
- have evidence to support my claims
@ZiXxTeLLi ESP The Elven God of Deception would be Dirthamen. Solas is the Elven God of Rebellion.
Flames Of Chaos I disagree
