I was asking on Instagram about this copper tubes, thickness of the wall / diameter. I ordered something similar to this tool and a few different sizes, I haven't done this before, but love the finished look
Gotcha gotcha. Sorry. It's been years since I've actually cored any beads. When I was, I was using copper and silver with an inner diameter of 4.37mm to fit Pandora style bracelets. You should be able to use any diameter that fits in the Bead and the tool though. I might be wrong though because it has been many years for me
@HeatherBehrendt Oh boy, I just did my first Silver Core Bead! Woo hoo...and so much thanks to you for your guidance and giving me the tips and courage I needed. I so appreciate it! :)
Aw, thanks Heather! Not sure if I'm blowing it (which wouldn't be unusual LOL!) but I don't see a link for a vid to do the switch-a-roo of the peg. I'm going to check Dave's site; I think he had a vid to do it as well but not sure. I'm not sure how to tell which peg is which, though. Anyway, thanks for this great instructional assist! :)
Great video. You're very fast. I have the Impress, but my copper tends to go flat. I've been annealing it, maybe I shouldn't? But I have copper tubing from the hardware. I'm not sure what Ginko's copper is like.
Great tutorial. I've only tried it with thin wall silver and I turn the handle very slowly. Do you turn as fast with the silver as you do with the copper?
YAY! You're wonderful for doing this for us! I've had my Dave Impress Tool (and som Ginko Copper and Silver) for, like, a year and a half and have been too skeered to try it! Doh! Now you've given me the courage! I can hardly wait! Will be double checking the size diameter copper/silver I have but was wondering, did you have to change out the peg that comes with the Liner in order to use this sized tube? That's something I dread trying... :(
Hello. Can I make a silver core with thin and convex edges like troll beads with the impress tool? If you look at the videos, it usually seems to be made thick.
I haven't actually cored beads in quite a while, but if you want less of a "domed" edge, you can measure a smaller amount of the tubing. Just enough to stick out a little bit on either side. Hope that is helpful
@glasstastictreasures I've never tried it with other copper only because I've never been able to find it in the correct size, but I never anneal it and it works great for me. I've recently been using silver too from Ginko and I don't bother annealing it. Hope this video was helpful.
Fabulous tutorial, thank you:) Please tell me what size tubing I must look for online. Just starting out, ordered my Impress Bead Liner yesterday, it is on it's way to me as we speak.
Hey Cindy-Anne. You are looking for tubing with an inner diameter of 4.37mm. I hope that helps. The tubing that I have found sometimes varies a little in the outer diameter, but I usually end up filing out the center of my bead a little bit to get a good fit.
@HeatherBehrendt The video is great! I received my silver and brass from Ginko and it domes beautifully. So my guess is the hardware copper is just too thick. Thanks for the fast response :D
So there is more than one way to core a bead without spending a bundle! I may give it a try. Thanks
Deb

@valntynes Awesome! I'm so glad I could help. Lining beads is addicting isn't it?

@shineonlampie I don't do it ridiculously fast or slow, but it's pretty much the same for me with copper and silver.
Where do u get this press?
Thank you very much! Very useful and well explained! Now I know that I have to take it a bit slower for a nice domed effect :)
Glad I could help :)
@theglasszone
Great! I hope it's helpful
I did end up changing out the peg. Here's a video I came across that shows how to change it :)
where il possible to buy silver 925 tubes on line?
@glasstastictreasures Great :)
I'm glad I could help
Brilliant!
Can u make just bead cores this way
sorry I'm late in my response. I've never done just bead cores, but I don't see why you couldn't in the same way just without the bead.
Is that a fish tank that I hear in the background?
