I love these small creek videos ! They are great. I live and fish in Florida, so most of my fishing is salt water. I do fish rivers and other fresh water, but it's big water. Born in WV. I fished many small creeks and rivers. Wow ! What a blast. Nothing beats clear water creeks and streams. So many different fish too catch. Way to go mate. Bloody-well good. Tom DB,FL.
I just moved to TN from being a life long Floridian. I was having inshore withdrawal and then realized I get to fish creeks here and it brought me out of my depression, I went and got a bunch of ultra light gear and love wading around in these creeks.
So I frequently have nightmares that keep me up at night and your channel takes my mind off things enough that I can relax and go back to sleep. I’m a stay at home mom who doesn’t even fish. Glad to be one of your 30k. Thank you
You are so entertaining. Thank you for this. Lots of cool teachable moments in your videos. I’m new to fishing and I appreciate the time you take to show us your tackle and methods of approaching creek fishing. Cheers my man. Tight lines.
Right? My grandpa Bill taught me to fish 50 years ago..and I can still hear him everytime I get Fish On.. he says ...keep that rod tip up, Terry, or you gunna lose it🥰😉💧👍
"how did he come off" i can answer this. there's a thin membrane of flesh between the maxilla and cheek, it's very fragile and the fish ripped the membrane. this happens mostly with a perfect hookset so dont feel too bad :P
30K plus nice! was going to say at 4:19 then 6:50 love that rod bend! then happened on nearly each fish. That is the answer of why ultra light rods and light gear...oh the fun.
Love watching your videos. I love fishing small creeks too. It is always fun when you catch a big fish in a small body. I love how you can contain your disappointment when the fish gets off....hahah
I like seeing your setup. I'm still learning lures and sinkers. I am using a green braided line on my rod now but thinking of buying another rod so I can use clear monofilament line. I didn't think the line mattered too much. If I didn't have to work today I'd be out fishing, but I am home and found you on UA-cam. Great videos. Very exciting watching you catch fish.
Another great video!! Sorry you lost that big smallmouth, was a real bummer. But you'll get another one. I like your positive attitude and perseverance!
5:11 knew he was gonna come off. Fought him too hard. Let that drag out and take him for a walk. They tire out eventually. Shouldn’t have let him jump either.

Spegittioos nacho I busted 5 fish down yesterday Lil one's though bigger ones wasn't butting yesterday. 5 I wonder how the snappers are survining. Going again Saturday night and Sunday morning .
smallies, catfish and muskie are my top 3 fav to target, all 3 put up the best fights, good times. That little creek had some decent size fish, nice vid
@@FishHawk you will be hooked once you land your 1st 40" plus muskie. My 1st was 52" long, that was hands down the best fight, and most fun I've had fishing to date, and I've been doin it for 30+ yrs. If you ever get a chance to fish Lake St Clair in Michigan or Cave Run in Kentucky, there are alot of great muskie fisheries out there, those 2 are some of the better ones. It took us a day and a half to get one to commit, but it sure was worth it. 3 day trip we caught 3 and all were 42" plus, tons of monster pike and walleye as well.
Always glad to see a man with a St. Croix - I may have clicked on another video otherwise, lol. From just south of there in WI (Sunfish capital - La Crosse/Onalaska) I love doing these types of creek fishes but the people I go fishing with are older/disabled most of the time so it really limits where I can go. Cool video. Glad to see ethical fisherman, but I have to tell you - a bass is a sunfish and you could probably throw it at the water as hard as you could with no damage to the fish, lol - not that I would advise that.
Nice fish, might have been tempted to keep that last cat. Good video, Fishhawk. No matter where you are, when you're by a river there is beauty all around. I'd recommend some slow mo scans just rotating on your tripod. Check different angles a bit, water level up high, whatever. Just take time to find the reasons we all fish, besides catching fish. I told someone on a fishing forum, I'd rather wade a trout stream or any cold clear stream and get skunked than have a great day on a lake. Of course, I love perch, bluegill and walleye to eat. So I will suffer fishing on a lake for the harvest. Ok, here's the ugly. When you go to set the hook and you hear your drag start letting go during the hookset, you've lost hooking power. Turn your drag up, it puts more force into the hookset, pushing that hook in farther into the fish. You won't lose a fish/snap the line, on the hookset w your drag set at full. I fish 10 lb mono for steelhead and have never had a fish snap my line and my drag has never went off during a hookset. Idk, maybe you're trying to add drama to it. Everytime you go to set the hook and I hear your drag go off I just shake my head, then you lose it and I'm like, yep.
Thanks I appreciate the feedback. I will tighten my drag and try that. Then I loosen it during the fight if it's a bigger fish. Not trying to add drama. Just trying not to break my line in case I hook a big fish.
Fishing fact. Nightcrawler sufficate under water. That movement from it sufficating attracts fish. Also fresh water fish most likely would never come across a night crawler naturally in the wild.
Nice, those small mouth were chunks. We saw it. I count it. lol I used to creek fish a lot for bass. With covid and being laid off and all the new cool plastics i might head to the creek a few days a week. I prefer live bait though but i want to try some of the new plastic stuff. i have been out of the game for about 20 years now.
There's this creek near where I live that's just swarming with little red-eye bass. They're not much larger than the catfish you caught but they put up a good fight
not trying to preach anything to you or anything like that you're awesome great fisherman love your videos I'm a subscriber but I wanted to give you a tip I learned on bass tournaments when you set the hook keep the tip of your rod at least 2 inch below the surface of the water so when he jumps and shakes his head he want spit it you can jerk him right back in the water with the tip of your rod 2 inches below the surface to keep the tension on the hook as well
alright after reading this comment and trying it out that shit works. I fish a slightly longer rod and I keep mine down to the second loophole. Works fantastic
