Hi, great video. How do I connect the optical cable to my Samsung QLED TV? I can see the connector? It’s a QA75Q60RAW model about 5 years old? I can’t even find an analog headphone jack on the back?
Hi Tracey, Samsung does specify the TV has an optical Toslink optical digital output and shows the connections around the middle of the back of the TV. A 5' Optical digital cable is included with these headphones.
Hi, Great video. I just bought these headphones. Problem..cant get sound to my headphones. Geel squad told me to hook to bluetooth..didnt work. If I understood you correctly, you don’t have these headphones to Bluetooth? Please help!
The Sennheiser RS-175 headphones do not have Bluetooth as a feature. To get sound in you will need to connect your device with either the 3.5mm analog input or optical toslink input on the rear of the base.
Is it possible to have two connections: optical connected to the tv and the 3.5mm jack connected to the PC and then use the switch on the Sennheiser's base?
If you are fine with manually selecting which input you desire to use with the switch, I see no reason why you could not connect a 3.5mm source and an optical source to the charging base.
First time setting it up. Can't get a signal from the headphones to the base. No sound from optic to optic. Best Buy said try pushing the + and - keys for 7 seconds. That did not work, now they want to replace them...

Hi Jack, looks like your Yamaha RX-A880 offers optical audio inputs only and no outputs. You'll need to connect the headphones to an output instead. What sources are you hoping to listen to specifically?
The Sennheiser RS 175 transmitter has an optical digital (Toslink) input and 3.5mm stereo minijack input. To connect using an RCA output on your TV, you'll need a Stereo Mini-to-RCA Cable: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc921/p_979CMR203/item.html
How’s the quality of the surround sound? Looking primarily for Movie Watching and looking for the home theater sound. How loud can they get? Loud or are they nerfed?
Their surround sound mode works very well! Many of our customers have commented about their experiences with it and how good it performs. We have not done any testing to find the loudest they can play. We can only confirm that during our demonstration, no one mentioned not being able to get the volume level they wanted.
We believe that each is the best pick for the right person. The differences in these models are the amount of customization that can be done to fine tune their sound. The 175 model has a bass boost and a couple virtual surround sound modes. The 195 model has three listening modes: Normal, Speech (for clearer dialogues), or Music (for increased dynamic range for music). It also has a few (labeled as A-G) different personal hearing modes to help with enhancing their sound for everyone. We didn't check the manual to see if there are settings that need to be adjusted. You may want to check on the manual to see what, if anything needs to be done. The good news is that LG often makes it easy to switch between the built-in speakers and its audio outputs. We don't expect it will be difficult to switch between them.
Can I buy any RS 175 headphones and pair them easily?
If you have the RS 175 system already, you are able to pair a second set of headphones to the transmitter. Those are the HDR 175 headphones from Sennheiser, found here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc313/p_143HDR175/Sennheiser-HDR-175.html
I have a new samsung tv, is there anyway to control the volume from your tv remote?
The volume of the headphone is controlled from the buttons on the headset itself.
@@crutchfield yup I realize that. I bought them but after I realized that they don’t integrate with the volume controls on my remote I will probably be returning. Small thing but deal breaker for me. It’s due to the optical connection. They should have made hdmi arc an option
Can I pair the 175s with Directtv & a 2009 LgTv.
You should be able to as long as the LG TV has either an optical audio output or an analog audio output. Which model LG TV do you have in your system?
@@crutchfield Thanks. I got the 175s to work just fine.
Great!
For some reason when i cast Disney+ to my TV these won't work
Sounds like you may want to start by checking your audio settings for the app and for the TV's audio output you have connected to the headphone's transmitter. If you got the headphones here, you can call our Tech Support as well. Their direct number is on your invoice.
Mine sounds great but the sound keeps going on and off and their is zero customer support for the problem.
Hi Roy, sorry to hear your headphones aren't working better. Did you get them here? If so, please reach out to our Tech Support for help troubleshooting this issue. Their direct number is on your invoice.
Did you ever find a solution?
I am having static problems which makes the sound click in and out.
Oh, that's no fun! The manual does give some trouble shooting options for sound dropouts that might help. We keep a copy of the manual on our web site with the link to download it found in the What's in the Box section of this web page:

Are these good for single player gaming?
The Sennheiser RS 175 are an excellent choice for gaming just so you don't need a microphone.
Can I use these with my ps4 too listen too movies
The Sennheiser RS175 can be connected to sources that have an analog stereo output or an optical digital output.
its good for gaming ?
What type of features do you want? For example, do you need a microphone?
@@crutchfield I have a separate microphone. I just need a quality headphone that has a very clear and quality sound for playing computer games
It definitely can give a clear sound and can even accept a PCM level signal. The only potential issue is that they are wireless and that means there is a slight delay because of the wireless transmission process. If you are not gaming online, they they could be a great option! Otherwise, a wired set may be better:

Will this connect to a cable box ?
Hi Lisa, what type of audio outputs does your cable box offer?
@@crutchfield well, I’m not really sure but on the back of my cable van box there is a place for an optical cord, and there is a spot for a USB and something that says LAN. And there is a cord plugged into the back of the cable box that says TV out that’s all I know.
TVIDUIT
I did not mean to send that last message. Sorry, the one with just the letters on it.
Perfect! You can use the optical digital output to connect from your cable box to the RS 175s. A 5' Optical digital cable is included with the headphones.
When i go into settings on my sony tv n try to pair..doesnt work!
There is no Bluetooth features on the Sennhieser RS-175 headphones. Use the included toslink optical cable to connect the charging base to your Sony TV's digital optical output.
@@crutchfield I had the optical cable in back of charging base and then into back of SONY TV. How do I pair TV to headphones? Ur other option to put 3.5 mm wire into charging base..where in back of my tv does the other end go into. Which option allows to keep sound out of room n then if one wants to listen thru headphones n still allow others to hear?
You'll find instructions for pairing the headphones to the transmitter on page 24 of the manual here: pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageBank/v20211119155000/Manuals/143/143RS1752.PDF
You will want to check your TV's output settings regarding options for listening via multiple outputs. If you got the TV and/or headphones here, you can call our Tech Support for help setting this up as well. Their direct number is on your invoice.
Can you connect these to pc?
What type of audio outputs does your PC have?
@@crutchfield HDMI
You'll need a Tos-Link optical digital or RCA/3.5 stereo audio output to connect to the transmitter included.
I have three pairs of HDR 175 wireless headphones that only two years old, and have turned out to be a load of rubbish. They run okay for the first hour, then start to stutter, giving out broken sound. I have replaced the batteries, replaced the fibre optic cable. I also use a one in four out splitter, that I have also replaced. I have even checked out the quality of the channels I have been looking at. Even on Amazon prime I still stuttering speech. All I can say don't buy them.
I have had MANY Sennheiser RFs over the years and I have to agree with you this and the 180s are the ONLY models where I experience breaking up of sound no matter listening to youtube, Netflix, prime whatever. Changed all cables same thing. Disappointing as the sound when it works is good.
@@RichRich007 Did you ever find a solution?
Unfortunately, the headphones did not meet expectations, and I was disappointed due to the weak sound and lack of clarity, despite their high price, so I will return them.
Sorry to hear they didn't work out better for you. If we can help you choose another option, please let us know.
