One thing I can't believe nobody mentioned is a wet shirt. The water evaporating from the fabric acts just like an air conditioner. It works so well you always know when the fabric has dried out because you suddenly feel much hotter! Of course it works best in circulating air. Wet t-shirt in an outdoor shady area will help you stay cool as a cucumber.

CenterPoint is a monoply and their behavior needs to be addressed. Their lack of maintenance adds to outages. Our cables are buried so no wind - why is electricity out??? I think CP cuts users so the numbers of users who have real problems are eschewed. I have requested trees to be trimmed in right-of-right - these trees have not been trimmed in over 8 years. At that time they left cut limbs. I requested trimming in April to be done before first storm. Nothing yet!!!
Major electrical outages like this will continue to be an issue in Texas during seasons of extreme temperatures. Hundreds of millions of dollars in produce gone to waste. Thousands of lives at stake due to medical equipment at home failing, or hospitals losing power when back up generators fail after a few days. They need to advise a plan to meet the insane increase in use of electricity in the state. Millions of people using air conditioners more often due to continual record numbers of heat during the summer. You can't just warn people about usage. You either need to enforce it (not to extreme levels like California's previous water restrictions) or create a new technology/grid that can sustain such demands.
If they had properly warned the entire metro area and called it a cat 2 people wouldn’t be so mad because we would have been better prepared generally speaking of course

Bottom line, Who is responsible for this repeated catastrophy? Why are we paying high electric bills and getting less than poor service when we NEED it.
Center point it’s a shame we still have this issue it’s 2024 get ur things together
Cheers to the line men in the field actually doing the work!
To Hell with Centerpoint management!! They dropped the ball, the linemen picked up the fumble!!
Center point lies...
Remember on ice day storm in Texas in 2021 ………..
Power is on one hour ago in Livingston, thank you to Sam Houston electric co op, under so serious conditions, we are so thankful!
When you live on the coast, there is a thing called a "Battery Bank" that would be a worthwhile investment, especially if you don't drive a new car with a USB charging or something.
Those that can afford it are installing natural gas generators nowdays. Batteries should have solar for extended outages.
We would have power had they not cut our line...can't even get anyone on the emergency line, nor any of the lineman we have asked...this is insane,it took the last lineman from prior storm 10 minutes and I pray that man gets blessed beyond messure, but these causing more issues shame on them!!
I pray hope one day to escape leave out of Houston for all eternity!
I can not take this damn shit anymore longer that its hard to take care of myself without having full electricity!
Anywhere but Houston or anywhere where Hurricanes Tornadoes Mudslides Wildfire and Earthquakes happens!
No cooling centers where I am , I don’t have transportation, called 311 and was told that I am not in the zone for free transportation to any cooling centers listed. Not sure why my zip and address is in Houston Harris County, 77073. I guess we will just melt away!!
Every power outage we saw same comments and complains. There is no action taken from government and industry. Sad. Ordinary people suffering and no body care to do something.
still got the nerve to give me an electric bill
its not just center point its the politicians that allow them to make donations to campaign funds and suddenly poof ....we need real improvements... lots of people had trees fall on lines... then start slowly putting the lines where possible underground.... tearing up the street for new telephone or water lines drop whatever lines you can in... maybe equip more homes with solar, wind and batteries....
Centerpoint and the flood control district needs to be overhauled. This is unacceptable. It cant get too hot, it cant get too cold, we have to stay in the goldilocks zone for things to work. Thanks Centerpoint for making Texas a third world country.
Major incompetence by any and all authorities. You can, but don't...
10AM July 11th Still no power in NORTH HOUSTON. We don’t have basic electricity another city is looking better. Cooling centers are trash we need power
What do I do if I have a CPAP with severe sleep apnea and no power?
Go to the hospital where they will discharge u and send u to the NRG new beds with power
Welcome to the club. I have a BIPAP. I’m looking into some battery powered alternatives for just this situation.
Looks like Texas minimalist approach to maintaining their power grid is not working out so great. your governor is over in Asia studying how to build a high-speed rail system. Just a suggestion he may want to figure out how to have a reliable power grid first?
Where is Ted cruz,
With some young boy.
He's not an electrician.
@@jameso1447He’s paid to “come out of his lair to pressure the companies responsible for this”.
He just returned from Cancun.
Wait, that was during the blizzard my bad
Wheres Dora the explorer - oh shes off on Vacation
This is a second time blackout city
This is ridiculous Centerpoint have to responsibility...no excuses
look for rivers and ponds on the GPS for water just in case
For the future: Get some rain barrels. I have 4 and know several ways to purify the water. Also store some water all the time. There is no excuse to not have a week of stored water when you live in hurricane territory.
WHERE IS THE NEW OUTAGE MAP???
Why the news from Yesterday ?
Whoever named that hurricane jinxed a lot of people 😅
Rosharon Area still not power 😢
I noticed that you reran the story of the elderly man without power. That clip is more than a day old. Don't you think you should have checked on him before to see if his power was restored before you ran this for effect?
Baytown area no power as of 10:45 am 😢
Power lines down in the roads with cops guarding roads and not one work truck yet! HWY 6 and LITTLE YORK hurry up
Center Point need help,, so many electrician they still working outside with hot weather 🙏
Why don’t you ever report on Entergy?
🐀🐀🐀Created Chaos 🐀🐀🐀
"Center Point Energy" " Stand Down" on restoring power 🔋 to Houston 😢 residents.
I haven't seen a police ride in my neighborhood yet
Why its no mention of Fema.
Hey , lay off the pole guys. Those guys deserve a freakin medal. I’ll say this. If u live in Houston or surrounding area know this. U live in loss of power capital of America. Every one should own a 2000 watt generator, cord , 5000 btu ac. Those guys are heroes. Your own fault if u didn’t have those 3 things. And know this thank goodness bucees gave generators. It should be mandatory for all new gas stations to have em and we need all gas stations to upgrade with generators. Thank the lord beaver out gen’s on his stores. They deserve a medal!!!!
They missed read this😢😢
This was not a category one impossible ain’t no way literary “ain’t” (excuse the bad grammar)
This storm reminds me of hurricane Alicia frfr
