Lou man I still get to visit you, I come to you for airbrushing figures because I want to support you. I really need you succeed. This was 6 years ago and I have still been coming to you. I wish you to thrive. Thank you for all artistic work you have provided for me. Thank you sir!
Walking into JD's is a mind-blow when you step in that front door. Louis is a great guy. JD Hobbies is a massive shop. Prices can be high, but for a local shop, they need to pay the rent.
+ModelManTom And the store keeps going and going. There are so many little twists and turns with more gear crammed tight into every nook. And well laid-out and organized.
Wow. When you see that many kits on the shelves and the floor then that is a true old school hobby shop. Very sad to see them going away. I know of a few in the Chicagoland area that have disappeared. When I travel to different cities that is one of the first things I do is google "hobby shops". Unfortunately sometimes not many hits or a shop address appears only to not be there anymore. Will be one of my first stops if ever in San Pedro. Thanks for sharing Steve and really enjoyed!
Great video Steve! It is a real shame that they are dying off 1 by 1!! All, I have around me is a Hobby Lobby. The nearest "Hobby Sop" is a little more than 2 hours away!!
+MindlessModelWorks The good news is Lou the Owner of JD Hobbies understands the new for the neighborhood hobbyshop and has been in business for over 15 years.
A great find Steve! That is a fantastic shop to lose a few hours in no doubt, San Pedro has some pretty cool area"s to explore too.Thank you for sharing
Oh wow, that's nice to see. All of our plastic model shops are gone, or mostly RC now. It would be really nice to browse one of those shops again. Looking forward to part 2
I have been building model cars for about a year. I am 68 years old and I built a few kits when I was young and when I started recently I was surprised that there is not that many places that sell kits anymore. I used to able to go to Longs (CVS) and buy paint and model kits. They don;t sell them any more. That is so sad.
+ghost 94 Ihad an Uncle in Northern Ireland who would bring me some really nice model kits from a shop in Belfast many years ago, he served with the British Eight Army in North Africa, he passed away many years ago and he is missed. RIP Uncle John Ross.
I recently visited SP..sadly I did not see this shop....!!! Personally the trip to "Port's a Call" village was a total turn-off..! There used to be wonderful shops at that area. Even a helicopter pad for pleasure scenic flights...all gone and replaced with mexnican restaurants and loud inaudible music... SAD..........
This shop is still there even after your post from 3 years ago. It is not at the Ports a Call location, but located off of 471 W 6th St. San Pedro. Call first to verify they are open because of the Covid-19 shutdowns.
Best regards Dear Mr Lou, was a Pleasure see you again after 4 years. As always was very interesting see all your products there.
