for anyone wanting to know where to get the green bendy thing, here is a link. www.mobilesolut...
Well the time has come. My son is finally ready to upgrade his stock sound system to something better. I know he has wanted it from day one but i am always busy and he was always in school during the day. So now that he is graduated high school (great grades BTW) we have more time to do stuff together. He has been helping out a TON at the shop so i decided to help him out with some gear. My name is Steve Meade after all...so who am i not to help my kid get some beat with the resources i have? Anyhow, nothing is free here, it cost me some $ but not too bad considering i am a dealer now. Anyway, we aren't going to go ape shit. We are aiming for a nice clean install with some bump. Over time, if the crazy bass bug hits him, he can upgrade all he wants. I think what we picked out will be a nice, well rounded first system for him...and for anyone if you ask me.
The box will be made of 1" MDF, Glue and nails with one 2x3" brace in between the subs.
Also, we plan on making the box look nice in the back. Nothing to wild. I want HIM to build this and we are going to start out with the basics. I had him open up the book and we are building from recommended specs for this first enclosure. We are going to use 4" Tube ports with a nice round over on them.
Anyway, i LOVE showing him how to do stuff and then watching him get it done on his own. He did 99% of what you see in the pics below. I will post updates as we get more progress done.
FYI: As you can see in this video, we did a 1/4" recess on the face of the box. P3 12's aren't that heavy and there is still 3/4" of MDF under them. AND a brace. It is FINE. Honestly, this box is solid as hell. We did that small recess on the subs to give it a nice clean look but it didn't effect the rigidity at all.
Planned equipment so far:
(1) Sony CD / Bluetooth H.U.
(1) Rockford Fosgate P1000.1 (on Lows)
(1) Rockford Fosgate P300.2 (on Highs)
(2) Rockford Fosgate P3 12" Subwoofers
(1) Set Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-s
more possibly? subject to change of course!

14 people had a shitty dad who never taught them how to ride a bike, throw a baseball or work on cars. Don't take it out on me! LOL :D
I don't get it either man. Haters gonna hate I guess. Looks good and the boy is learning the trade, nothing wrong with that.
That's is one lucky ass kid to have you as a dad. U seem like the coolest person ever.
Thumbs up for being a father. Teaching your son, having him do the work, passing that knowledge down. Looking forward to this build, and hoping we see more from your boy in the future.
Passing on the skills - you're a great dad, and this is great to watch!
he is fun to work with because he pays attention! thanks a lot! :)
meade916 but still assembling box with nails. What's up with that?
Tomas Sabalas and? i used a few screws...to hold the brace in. LOL. You don't need screws to build a box. Just clean cuts, glue and nails. Look, now i just passed on some of my skills to you! You will thank me later (if you build boxes and own a nail gun/compressor)
meade916 I've had build few boxes for subwoofers and all of them were build with glue and screws. I don't have nail gun and even if I had one, I would never use it to build subwoofer box, EVER. I've build box for my Cerwin Vega 12SVC and although it's ported box (less pressure compared to sealed box), vibrations from speaker would crack that box open in long run. Well, maybe not, but I really wouldn't want that. Anyway, I see I won't make a point here, so all I can say is, good luck using that box and hope it doesn't split open in long run :) Best regards to you and your son. Peace.
Tomas Sabalas glue and nails is all you need. You don't need screws at all. The glue does all the work. Ask any experienced box builder (even though you are talking to one). You can take my word for it or you can continue to do it your way. Keep wasting your time, it makes no difference to me.
Steve, mad props for getting your son involved in this part of your life. It's good to see the tradition is being carried on. Keep up the vids with him, its cool to see a father & son team.
Simple but really clean he's doing a good job
yup he is! i think!
@@meade916 lol I think.
It's always nice seeing a father teaching his son the tips and tricks of the trade.
Nice work! I love working with my dad, he's taught me everything along the way, from packing wheel bearings on his F-250, to putting a new floor pan in my car. Glad you guys are doing the same!
A couple years back I put the same setup in my Mustang. Two P3 12's on a P1000.1bd, except in a sealed enclosure. It is cool to see how the models have changed over the years. I build the box with my father too, and I'll always be thankful for the times we got to build together. I'm sure your son feels the same way. Keep up the good vids Meade, I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
people can say what they want about you but you can tell how good a family man you are and that alone gets my respect. Im sure you work hard for everything you have so props too ya for showin it off cos theres no better feeling than being proud of something you know you worked hard for!
Awesome vid a lil quality time with dad learning something and having fun
Kid is awesome, just like his dad. Reminds me of my dad teaching me to work on Yota's. He's lucky to have you. And he's damn good at using the tools he's provided to build a killer system.
Great to see him putting in his own time building his truck. Can't wait to see how it turns out
I was heartbroken to when the video ended, I want to see it finished!! I really like how simple it is, Great job Steve.
That's awesome you're teaching your son. Best thing you can give to your kids is a skill. Kudos!
Father and son builds are the best. I remember doing the cady Devile with my type r 12 s on 2100w.
That's awesome! I still remember building my very first pair of speakers with my father when I was 9 years old. Been hooked ever since!
Really eager to see how this build turns out! Can't wait to see more!
Glad to see your son following in your footsteps and getting his first system put together. Can't wait to see it when its done :D
Just got done watching the '73 Chevelle Nightmare fix.. hell of a series and you are one hell of a good friend to fix that for him. Glad I found your channel and I am subbing to see how this turns out! GREAT GREAT work!! Wish I lived in Cali to have you work on my car.
Sweet build, especially for us down to earth folks that don't have thousands to spend on a build. Cool you guys doing father/son build also!
That's awesome! You have to really appreciate that father/son time! Cool to see. Can't wait to see the rest of the build!
Nothing better than a father son project
Nothing better than building something with your son! Especially some audio.
Thanks for the inspiration on the trim panels. I was thinking of something similar but hadn't really come up with a complete plan until now.
Damn time goes by he's already graduated. That's a hell of a start!!
I cant wait to do my son first instal when he grows up. Great install Steve and those haters hate because they can only dream of what a system sounds like.
No better way to spend time, than with your kids. Great job to you both!
Should be proud of your son for this build. Awesome to see. Great video and look forward to the update.
Wow even simple box builds look nice. Can't wait to see the rest of the videos
You are probably the best father known to man, good on ya steve!
Can't waite to see both of your sons doing install video's one day , Awesome mentor Steve..
Very cool man.. As he gets older, your boy will appreciate things like this even more ! makin memories man.. Its what its all about.. Keep on, keepin on bro
No matter how simple are beast the vids you make someone always have to hate.
Haters gone hate.
man i know your son probably worried you to death about putting a system in his ride i know i would lol!!!. Big PROPS goes out to you meade and all the fathers out there who take the time to pass their knowledge to loved ones! this video reminded me of my dad and i working on my system a couple years back, i cherish every and any moment he spends teaching me!
Father son build, love it. Keep up the good work Meade family!
Looking really nice can't wait to see it completed. I had 2 12 inch P3 for a month didn't really like them took them out went with 2 12 inch alpine type R 4 ohm. I wired them down to 2 ohm now putting out 1 ohm on 2 t1000 sounds 100% better than the P3.
I have one of those P/3 12" in a ported Rockford box and that thing is "BRUTAL"
your son has really grown from the tahoe build. Cant wait till he does his own crazy build.
yah boy looks like he knows what he's doin yall keep doin yo thang!
Super clean build...looks like he's got pretty good building skills too. The empty space on either side could make for a nice secret compartment.
Watching your videos makes me realize how much i miss having subwoofers in my car, unfortunatly i cannot afford to get some, was happy enough that i could get a new head unit
u should get some basic like alpine I see them go for around 100$ for 2 alpine type s not the best but they will do the work
I know about cheap sound systems, used to have them alot, but at the moment i can't even afford those, and as my situation is at the moment being unemployed, i just gonna have to wait extra long
damn bro sorry to hear
Can't think of a better way to spend time with your son! 😉
Nice, I like the use of that bendy stick thingy to transfer the curve onto the cardboard, very handy. I like a setup like this, nice mids and highs in the front with a sub or two in the back.
So cool to see you spending time with your son on something you both have in common, alot of parents waste alot of time never doing anything with there kids.keep it up man:)
You always make me wanna go and redo my whole install.
Steve, I want to give you Kudos for your front kink panels !! We know your the King on the subs, but your kick panels are the Prime Rib in the business. You remind me of Foose where there are so many details that you never see ! I come from TOW league - old school - Cadillac Hurst AKA Terminator - He was the king back then. Keep rockin and posting!!
Really nice first system,I didn't have that type of system until they second time around.. Great video gives us fans some insight behind the scenes... Really cool father Son project..
Nice Steve...got your little man puttin it down...he's doing good work...
Cool video! I still got about 3 years to do this with my boy. ✌️
*Awesome to be able to do this with your Son, he seems to be very handy with the tools too!*
~
My Dad's showed me how to sign up to the Legion's drawing(s) & how to wait patiently while he ran into bars. lol Oh, he took me to my 1st River Boat too, I had very little $ was busted in 2 hrs, we were there another 6hr's, I sat.
_(I took my Dad later in life, to my 1st ever NFL Game that I had to work my butt off to get the tickets, Colts vs Packers_ - _Peyton vs Brett_,Green Bay won)_
*_Anyway, cool to see this Father/Son project, can't wait to see it finished & rocking out!_*

Hell yea man! You can def tell he's picked up a thing or two from you! Awesome job man!
I like where this project is going. Nice job!

Your work is always so clean. That's why your the only car audio channel I subscribe to
Very nice build Steve! Makes me wish I had the stuff to make a box for my new car (2014 Mazda 3) but living in an apartment I just don't have the space to work.
Can't wait to see the rest of this.
Fuck yeah Meade love it
Just a lil' somethin somethin' here...nothin too crazy. Glad you like though! :) She will look 100x better when its finished (i think!) :)

I can't wait till my kids get old enough
That's looking pretty damn good.
Very cool box setup. Love this one!
Looking sweet! I'm working on a box for my two Type R 12s for my tahoe and I think I'll try doing that same top piece idea so it looks that clean, never thought of that before! Tell your son (and you lol) I said keep up the good work!
Fuckin right! Nothing like seeing a kid using the skills he learned from his old man
Those P3's are awesome great bang for your buck I have 4 of em on a 2500 watt soundstream rubicon n they take it like a champ banging daily
Those are some nice amps. Just look like they are very clean.
