It's NEVER done! Always SOMETHING to do. Something to add. Something to improve. This is video 6 in a project that much like every other build, is hard to call "finished". For the most part though this thing is done! I was trying to find a nice spot for the SMD TM-1 (temp sensor/fan output) and VM-1 (volt meter) and decided to cut the cluster up and drop them in the stock locations. It came out pretty good!
Thanks for watching!

That gauge install was awesome! I have to say, not too many people would be willing to take a bunch of power tools to the cluster like that haha. But considering your background in this field of custom work, I'm sure it was just another day at the office haha. Cheers from Canada!
The extra mile you go to in your install's is exactly why I subscribe! Adding the digital temp & voltage gauges to the instrument cluster is so boss! Your attention to detail is what separates you from all the other installers I've ever come across. Keep the vids coming!
thanks a lot bro i really appreciate that. :)
I have an 02 Yukon Denali myself. Been watching these old videos for some inspiration. Just a couple of 12"s for now. Definitely gonna try and use some of the ideas you put Into your sons truck for my own. Great videos!
Much, much respect to you for doing a father/son project. He will never forget that
That cluster mod is BADASS! Your son as to be happier than a little kid with a new toy lol
Awesome set up for the gauge cluster. Very clean.
thanks!!
Sick cluster idea .. That looked super oem ish / super car ... As a jr installer I love to look at ur ideas and expands my thought and learn new and fun tricks ... Much appreciated thx Steve keep doin you
Pure badass... The mods are crazy... You got your son riding clean. Great set of videos... Glad you didn't just put up one video and instead put up the whole breakdown/clean up process!!
The dash cluster mod alone sets you apart from most. Factory integration and forward thinking is what the top installers and fabricators use in the country. This is why you charge someone x amount to install a system.
thanks!!
Soo sick never would have thought to integrate in the dash bezel... that's a super common bezel too won't be surprised if we start seeing more people doing the same thing with your products on there projects. Maybe others have done it but this is the first I've seen. Great job man
That Gauge cluster is clean I like that. Keeps it simple and mostly original. Keep it up
I'm really liking that cluster and those leds under the seat, great job!
Love the simplicity of the gages in the dash cluster. Looks very clean and fitting. Build came together great guys!
Looks like a great job for a father and son. Your videos are great and I look forward to them every week. Keep the great ideas coming.
That dash mod is sick. Very impressed. That's a level of detail not many people reach.
You and your son did a really nice clean and simple job on his Yukon. I bet you had a good time working together on it. I bet all his friends are pretty jealous haha. I liked the gauges that you incorporated into the factory dash cluster, nice touch.
its the final touches that make it a pro install.. well done, very neat once again
The placement for those meters in the cluster was so bad ass!
thanks!
I WANT THAT GAUGE CLUSTER!!!! looks good Steve
that's really clean and nice to mount that in the existing gauge cluster. Looks good
After watching this I'm have to order a couple meters and install them in my cluster gauges like this awesome look and awesome clean set up
FIRST!
don't do that :|
***** that
wasnt this project started and then paused?? some time back?
+meade916 What was the cost of this project?
Eres el mejor
One of the cleanest installs I've seen. I'm a huge fan of your work!
Dam wish I had a dad like you coolest dad in my book
Haha I was just typing a question in regards to the mercury switch and as I was typing, you answered my concerns! Time to get back to enjoying the rest of the video. Have a great weekend and thanksgiving!
you wouldn't be the first to start typing without watching the entire video first LOL - happens ALL THE TIME. Thanks though man and you too bro!
Watching your videos you seem VERY qualified for what your doing. I would be very trusting to let you wire a setup on my car with no worries. That's a amazing clean setup.
Wow Steve I learn a lot from your videos
Love the dash! Awesome work
Just wanted to say that you are an inspiration to me Steve! Me and my friends are pretty amateur when it comes to the custom builds that we do! We always watch your videos and envy that you do this for a job! Keep on posting videos man! By the way you shoud do some videos on songs that you play through your system! Thanks!
Well what can I say but excellent as usual!!! I am right here in hercules I need to take that hour ride and come check out the shop! I need to hear that system that raises the hair on folks!
Cool gauge cluster mod!
As usual, great video!
Got so many ideas from your watching all your videos that I think my car will end up as a very loud spaceship that runs on UV Activated Resin ^^
Nice work Bro, In case anybody didn't notice the seat had to be vertical before the mercury switch would trigger and make the lights in the box come on so unless you stand the truck on end..... no lights, LOL!
most people don't notice...they feverishly start typing but don't pay attention to the video beforehand. lol
Looks tight in the dash, nice job!
Again quality build..very impressive!!! i love how you have to edit bits in to answer all the people who either dont get what your doing or just make stupid ass statements!
ive said it before and ill say it again.....don't question Mr Meade....if you doubt what hes doing or have got better lets see what you got!!!...didn't think so!!!! pmsl.
love the gauges install very clean
Man your awesome at your job wish i could in stall a system like that one day.
That's the perfect spot Steve
Wow man, Always learning cool stuff..
türkiyede senin gibi hevesli adam olsa keşke...
dope vid guys, good work! i just got ah yukon myself and im gonna start ah system in it too. cant wait
I wish I had a dad like you lol
+Texas Trill Shit do you not like your dad?
Shit I wish I had a dad ..
Steve, you are the very definition of the American dream. You deserve all of your success, and you are a role model. But, I always wonder, why no tripod with a quick release? lol
Awesome video series Steve, Esp the father/son base type project...love to see vids like these, and your sons showing such an interest in all the things you do...looks like Jaybird is gonna be jobless soon lol....but anyhow I think this project series is the most common type of build most of us bass heads will end up with...regular box wit some 12's and taking up to a professional install detail by adding the tricked out gauges add on's, as well as the custom amp rack enclosure! Definitely is better then the amp's just screwed down to the top of the box, lol I know i'm guilty of that in my early days haha
thanks a lot!! :)
Dude, you're a GOD !!!!
Nice you do some bad ass clean work.
Good spot for those meters
Keep up the great work bro...
I've been wanting to ask for a bit.. Why install the fans outside the case? Why not inside and then a small grill on the outside?
1. You won't get your fingers caught in the fan
2. If you have to put something like a bag down there, it will most likely hit it.
3. Less dust (grill/filter)
Because i felt like doing it that way and also because i forgot to call you for advice before i started LOL.
1. nobody is ever going to put their fingers down there.
2. a "bag" will never be down there
3. won't be much dust and it's easy to clean.
I never meant to target you or anything like that. I was simply trying to wrap my head around it. Maybe you had some reason to do it, but I guess you didn't.
mortenmoulder 4 fans. Two pushing, two pulling. Really not that complicated. Nothing to "wrap your head around" lol. I could have done it 20 different ways and no matter how i did it, someone out there would say "why didn't you do it like this"....just take it for what it is. It's functional, works perfect and none of the three things you listed are a concern :) thanks though!
Bro that looks bad ass.
Damn man is there anything you can't do lol.. but seriously man I like the whole setup very clean and professional look...very nice
They make it look easy
Hey steve...ive been a huge fan of you and ur work for a long time...i would sit for hours lookin at the pics of the caddy build...i just wanted to write you cause i heard this song today called "bang" by Carnage...i has all levels of bass in this song...i dunno if you heard it before or not but if not make a video of you playin this song in the tahoe or the ISF...i promise you wont be disappointed...keep up the awsome work man...cant wait for more videos
Here's a tip for anybody with clear corners: Clear coat them
UV rays love to make them yellow quickly since they aren't made out of the best plastic.
Just thinking about this since I saw his son had a pair
u always come up with dope ideas i wish i live cloer to u id bring my stuff to ya def well worth the money
He does not do installs for people.
I wish i could do all that things you do to your car audio installs
Very Clean Install!
thanks man!!
Just ordered my SunFlash =D
Awesome Job
I see a whole smd cluster of gauges in the works thight.
you guys should put LEDs around the box behind the screen somehow it would look sick!
Now thats impressive
NICE. THAT'S dedication.
Please tell me that SMD Tm1 isnt crooked as it appears. 🤔😳
Very nice!
hope i ll have time to help my kids... like u do
Looks bad ass!!! Maby a side slider in the future?
As always Steve super clean install ..did you do a video of the iPad install for the Yukon????
That gauge cluster looks badass, I changed my bulbs to blue leds on mine and I bet that would look sick because of the blue on the volt and temperature... also where can I get the rockford diamonds like you added to the grills on the previous video??
Good stuff. Lol @ people worrying about the mercury switch.
dude, it trips me out...some people are seriously concerned and almost everyone concerned has never even seen one of these before LMAO.
Steve, would you be coming out to the Turkey Drag in a few days?
Awesome videos steve, thank you, quick qeastion, were can i purchase those cooling fans? I live in california also, central, but every were ive gone no one has them. Thank you, have a great weekend.
my question is where did you find a cherry 02 yukon with less than 100k. you'll never find that in the mid west. lol. good news is the 5.3L chev motor will run FOOOOOREVER
Badassery!
I've been looking at picking up one of the temp gauges and the volt meter. My one question is the LED's in those are blue, are they accessible to be swapped? I've swapped all of my gauge leds to white or purple, and I don't really want these to be mismatched. It's all in the details
FIIIIRRRRSSSSTTTTTT!!!
Alrite steve you know im a big fan of your work but wasnt it risky tearin into that cluster like that to mount those gauges? Wish i had a big suv with that setup.
@meade916 once he is able will your son be attending some kind of audio installation school? Would he have to since he works with you? Keep up the good work
Hey was up meade916 i have a 2004 yukon denali xl a job like that how much is it for my truck i love the set up you did on this yukon
looks good but lets hear that new psyph in there now.
Yeah I wanted to know were you guys are located at.
I've seen him do some stuff for other people
Did you tilt the heat gauge on purpose? My OCD is kicking in really hard, and I want to go in and straighten it! lol
What diameter is the VM-1 when it's removed from its square frame? I ask because the only thing stopping me getting one so far is the large size of the entire unit @ 2.75" it's too big to fit where I would put it.
Omg at 1:03 the beep I have thought my ears were fucked up I just got done listing to decaf... lol
Nice set up. I have 2 rfd2212 subs. What would be the best box dimensions for an 01 tahoe. For low bass.
Steve, do you ever have anyone come in that wants a system for listening to something more like classical music instead of sound pressure/bass-focused hip-hop/rap/r&b music? It seems like it'd be a pretty difficult to create a system for soundstage and instrument separation.
Also, have you had your hearing tested (serious)?
with that mercury switch will the lights flicker while driving like hitting the brakes or the gas as the mercury shifts? never mind should have watched the whole video lol
is it in the father and so car audio install vids or any of them?
I got a question what should I do when my power goes down because of my amp hitting hard? What should I upgrade or replace?
What did you tap into to give you your constant 14v for the original gauge cluster
I'm trying to do this mod on a Chevy blazer
can you make a car audio installation video of a car that has a gas tank built in the truck but the truck has no flex?
Can I ship my truck over to you and pay you to hook up my yukon xl. Haha I really love this small yet amazing build.
should've put electrical tape over that check engine light.
I was wondering where I could buy your speakers man
Did ya give up on the DGAF project? Awesome install on the kids truck by the way. Looks amazing.
give up? who said that? i called it IDGAF for a reason though...it is a very low priority. It did a 160, broke the windshield...it's good enough for now. Ill mess with it later if/when i get time. Oh and thanks man! :)
HiHowAreYou Today 0-60 in 60 seconds on a good day. haha
how do i hook up door speakers properly so the amp wont quit
Could the fans come on, on a hot day during the summer. Or are they on a remote power wire so they only come on of the truck is on?
only if the truck is on.
Meade or anyone in General can answer this. I'm a noob and know nothing about subs is there anything hat I should know and must know if I'm looking into making buying a system?
how is the DGAF build going?
wat happened to his civic build
the daah came out awesome. i dont want to sound like a smart ass. but if you stand on a angle like a hill wont the mercury switch come on?. if not i have not said a word
i addressed this in the video. It is upside down when the seat is closed so it would take a HELL of an angle, probably something no car would drive on to set that light off. It would almost have to be flipped for that to happen. The very first clip i had it a little sensitive at less of an angle but i quickly fixed it.....the seat has to be completely up now for the light to engage and not just lifted a little. So it's fine. Believe me, i got this under control bro. :)
meade916 and, even if it does come on... its a single LED strip.... it would have to come on and stay on for an entire week straight before it drained the battery enough to be anything noticeable So, if it shorted out, and he did not start, nor charge the car for a week, it still wouldn't be a problem XD
(Reference, i have a LED strip under my hood, the switch broke, shorted on, drained 120ah battery (Kinetic 1800 + 600x2) from 12.8- 12v with car sitting for a solid week. The Kinetic's are also old and abused)
meade916
thanks for the explanation boss. keep up the good work !
