@@namyac88 millennial* i’ve owned a electric snowblower. Biggest waste of money. It’ll get the stuff you can easily shovel with no problem. It just can’t get the stuff that a snow blower supposed to get 😂
I bought the Ryobi 24” electric snowblower. I have Four 40Volt batteries. I have a driveway 165 ft long, 23 ft wide. When I put all Four batteries in at same time(you can run it with just 2 batteries) I can clear 8 inches of snowfall off my driveway in the charge of the Four batteries, it’s down to dam near empty by the time I’m done. That’s all I need it for. Handles heat up very well, lights are awesome and machine has enough weight tires don’t spin. Downfall is it is not the machine to go out and make money, takes 4 hours to charge the 4 batteries. I paid $1,750.00 2 years ago from Home Depot I believe
As someone who has been arguably against battery powered tools taking the place of gas powered tools i can honestly say that i could see myself using an electric snowblower in the next couple years for commercial snow removal mainly for the fact that the shoveling crew is not making as much noise in a neighborhood at 3am when yhey are doing the sidewalks.
I own the Ryobi 24” 2 stage with Four 40Volt batteries in it while I run it. All batteries fully charged at temps around 15/20 degrees gets you about 50 minutes of run time with 8 to 10 inches of snow. Takes 2 batteries at a time on the charger, those 2 on the charger take a good hour and 20 minutes to charge, take them off and pop on the other 2. All together is 2 hours and 45 minutes to charge Four 40Volt batteries. For me it works perfect for my driveway. If using for commercial use be sure to have charger in truck and a setup to charge. But at least this way it will be quiet.
Skeatos99,,, it will drain batteries quickly with wet or slushy snow. I have the 24” Ryobi 2 stage with 40Volt, four big batteries I run at same time on unit. My driveway is 150 ft long, 20+ ft wide. I can only do half my driveway with 6 inches of snow before I have to get it back in garage , charge up the four batteries which takes a little over 4 hours to full charge then head back out and finish drive. Not a good machine to try to make money. My big walk behind would be good for a driveway half my size but nothing more. I will be selling it. It only has 5 running hours on it. I paid $1,800.00 at Lowe’s. Selling for $1,500.00
It does ok. It gets through a huge berm on the street. It does eat a lot of power in the berm though. Need an extra set of batteries if you have a big drive. If you were working commercially probably Gas is still the better way to go. For my medium sized driveway it’s perfect.
If you’re out in the country and with serious snow it can’t do the job. You would have to have so many batteries, and snow depth and weight can simply bog down something like this. Demo it in heavy deep snow, not the easy stuff.
I'm out in the country and want to replace a shovel with an ego to cut paths to my chicken coop and water spigot and such. Already have a plow for the driveway. @TC_AIRSOFT i wouldn't bother using it if you have a big driveway, I have been using a snowjoe from amazon for 3 years. Unfortunately it uses a long cord but since i only have a 4 small car drive way, i am able to clear out the snow. I live in anchorage alaska and it is still snowing like a mofo here. The cord is a bit nuisance but i got used to it and i treat my snowjoe like i am vacuuming the house as it is very light and i whipped the cord to the left or right away from my direction. With that being said, whether you have a nice snowblower or not, you still have to shovel around your car and corners, the snowjoe does the same job as any to a small driveway. 😉 And i only spent 150 on it 🤣 Unless you find a good deal on amazon. Good luck.
They work fine, the issue is the run time isn’t great so anything more than a very small driveway, he’ll run out of battery. Also in 5 yrs when the battery needs to be replaced, it’s going to cost $600 for 2 batteries
I bought the 60V model last year it works decent but runs out of batter power as I have a driveway to the garage behind my house and one in front. So this year I figured I'll buy another set of batteries I was walking sideways after getting bent over at checkout. battery snow blowers are great for the meat in the middle of the driveway but anyone who actually snowblows knows we all use a stage 2 gas snowblower for the end of the driveway mainly because thats where the heavy wet snow is packed from the plows
You don't even need a snowblower for that drive way. I have a three hundred foot drive that usually has a 20 ft wide berm at the end created by the snow plow. I am sure the machine will be able to clear, the question is, how many batteries will it take? What happens in the spring, when all that light fluffy snow is slush.
The only reason these exist is because power equipment manufacturers have to buy "credits" from the EPA for their gas engines, and selling "green" equipment gives them an offset on their credits.
