JDM 4Runner Side Mirrors w/ Turn Signals & Puddle Lights Installation!

- Welcome back to the channel guys! We installed some JDM style side mirrors on @charged.3gr Runner! Mirrors sent from @formidable_4runner. Super cool as you barely see these on our generation Tacoma's or 4Runners. Sort of went blind on the install but hopefully this vid helps you guys if ya'll were planning to get a set! Note that I'm not positive if 00-02 wiring under the dash for the signal lights is the same as 96-99 4Runner and even the 1st gen Tacoma's in general but I would double check wiring diagrams to make sure! But another way you can do it is to run a wire straight to the signal light themselves. Puddle lights go straight to the door trigger wires so matter what vehicle or year.

That’s the only way to go if you don’t know, just chance em haha. You won’t know till you try! I not the go to guy for automotive electrical but I will if I have to lol I usually have Dane (@_dchigi) do the electrical stuff, he’s the man for that kinda stuffs 😂🤙🏼

Unfortunately from what I’ve heard they’re discontinued. I got them as a gift but I know people were getting them off this guy formidablerunner on IG.

Great vid, guys! I picked up the JDM set that has the blue lights for the DRLs. If I need to - can I switch those blue bottom bulbs in the mirror housings to amber?

Hey there I checked out your video on this 3rd generation mirror mod and I am totally wanting to do this to my 2000 4Runner.
Can I get all the information (part numbers) for the mirror housing with the blinkers and also the mirrors with blind spot mirrors.

I used an impact, but you gotta be really careful and hold a lot of pressure on them or they'll strip cause they are suuuuuper tight on there.

hey, thanks for the video, very helpful! I know this is an old video/thread, but I have a question. Hopefully someone can remember. I am trying to wire up the white marker lights and puddle lights, but am coming to a halt. When you guys wired up the white marker lights, what did you tap in to? I was able to tap the turn signals like you guys showed, but the white and puddle lights are not as specific on what to tap to get the same results as this sick azz runners. Do you guys remember what wires specifically you tapped? like location and color? I tried tapping a couple different ones in the headlight stalk, and the white lights stayed on even with the parking lights off, and the vehicle locked.... Kooked it
Any help would be appreciated.

@@gavinbennett2302 yup, figured it out. on the driver side, behind the kick panel there is a harness connector that connects to the rear lights. Starting at the door moulding, trace it from the rear lights to where it connects behind the kick panel (just behind the 4wd module). There should be 2 green wires in this connector. One of them goes to the tail lights, cant remember what the other one does. Use a testing meter to confirm there is power when you turn the parking lights on the stalk. Splice into the correct green wire. I think I remember that the connect green wire for me was located in the corner of the connector. I have an 02. Hope this helps you and anyone else who was wondering. Thanks to Fortune Status as this video was huge in getting me to that point.

I NEED HELP!!!! i’m trying to look for a 6” lift kit for a 2wd 02 4runner i can’t find it anywhere
You’ll need to buy a Tacoma kit and just the front off of that, and use FJ springs I believe for the rear with a spacer. Yeah sucks they don’t make 6” kits for 4runners. Pretty much gotta piece them yourself.

search ebay. I found them on there when i searched "JDM 4runner LED mirror covers". Theyre made by Revier. You can choose the color paint and light you want.

I'm late on this reply but, they seem to be a pair of Baja Design S1 LED with the flood style lens. They also come in Amber color and in a spot beam. I was also wondering where I can purchase that type of bracket.

Sir I'm just reading the comments I didn't right them but I switched my mirrors on my third gen tacoma I believe I got the new mirrors at a company called trying I think but your best bet is to go on the internet punch in the year the make and model of your truck I ordered mine together but they do sell them drivers side and passenger they are pretty good quality but they came through black so if your mirrors you have now are the same color as your truck you will have to paint the covers I got the exact match on the net four 40 dollars it had a can of spray paint and a can of clear coat it's best in m.o.p if your not a very good painter to ask a body shop how much they would charge I ended up doing it myself in multiple light coats I used the box they came in and allowed alot of drying time or you could just leave them black they don't look bad if your not exactly they best with electrical stuff it might be best to order the o.e.m ones you will pay a premium but all you will have to worry about is the wires for the signal lights the parking lights and the puddles you can separate them from the harness and just plug the other end back into the door harness either way it's can be a difficult job everything has to come apart and it's always been my practice to soldier the wires together connectors can come loss in a moving veicle either way the end result is definitely worth it and it makes it very difficult to tell what model truck your driving I know you can do it just go slow get one of those plastic pry tools so you don't scratch anything and work on one door at a time spread it over a full day then do the other one and leave the final wiring till the end because if you pull everything apart your truck might be out of commission if you put yourself under that much pressure anyway I hope this helps even a little and I'm sorry for rambling on so long my apologies
