I think the best part about them is that you can always, ALWAYS rely on the community to see the works of art made by SEGA at their peak. If Shadow's whole point was forgotten by SEGA, the fans remember EVERYTHING. It makes me glad this fandom is pretty much the "monasteries" of Sonic, as in people that know the games and characters like the back of their hand, even after SEGA's long ongoing screw-ups: the memory of what makes this series so good is still alive and in motion, transferred to many in the form of fangames and artworks, audioseries and songs, video essays and reviews, even some of the fanfiction is so good it could be translated with a team into its own fangame. Whenever I feel bad about the state of Sonic games, I turn back to the community and I am instantly reminded of what makes Sonic so precious to me and my favorite videogame series ever; hell, probably my favorite franchise ever, I just can't decide between Sonic and Spider-Man. I noticed I always come and go with Sonic: I get into other series, turn my attention to other games, stay on them for weeks, months, years even, but at a moment's notice, something just reminds me of this one blue cocky and quick hedgehog I love so much and it's often the community. I dunno if I would've been such a die hard fan of Sonic if it wasn't for this fanbase's undying zeal for the blue blur. As some apologist would say: toot toot, Sonic warriors!

The thumbnail is Godlike. I actually really appreciate the Sonic fanbase. They're far more creative than most people give them credit for, not to mention some of the fans have worked to make official Sonic media better (Christian Whitehead, Evan Stanley, Simon Thomley, Tyson Hesse, etc). My favorite fan projects are Ghosts of the Future (web comic by Evan Stanley); Sonic 3 AIR, Unleashed Project, P-06 and Sonic Robo Blast 2 (+Kart). Shoutouts to TheHatedGravity.
The Sonic series has such a fantastic and dedicated community. Arts, Fan games and loads of mods. I wasn't very interested in drawings once, but as the years goes, I got more and more inspired by the arts and animations and I want to keep drawing and improving. Then I played some of the fangames and I can't believe how many fun stuff I could had missed. For example, Sonic Robo Blast 2 and Sonic P-06 are amazing! Then there are Mods like Randomizer, Dreamcast mods and character mods. SEGA may have given the franchise a rocky journey, but that doesn't stop the community to be so passion for the hedgehog we know and give it the best experience possible. And then... *Sonic Mania.*
I enjoy making sonic animations. It helps to introduce myself as a person and share my love with the character in this community. As long as I ignore the negativity from others, I’ll keep feeling that I’m part of something incredible. Nice video dude.
Talk about a coincidence! I was having a chat with a friend about the Sonic community. As an outsider, he really thought of all the negative parts of the community. I wanted to show him that there's an amazing part of the community and lo and behold, you've blessed us with your video.
Aw, this is such a sweet love letter. I wouldn't say that I'm in the sonic community (tho I've been binging your vids for the past couple weeks!), but I feel the same way about the fan communities I'm in. It's truly lovely
I love how the community is more dedicated then the actual developers. Those fan games look really fun. I also like drawing Sonic characters a lot. They have very simple and easy to draw kind of designs that I really like.
I am sure that the developer know whats wrong with sonic, Takashi Izuka is there from 1994, so they know sonic very well, better than any fan, but the development is highly influenced by producers and external people the top manager contract
I played Sonic 1 for the first time in 1996 and I have loved Sonic since then. I always love Sonic no matter what. Also, I'm honestly PROUD of the reputation for weirdness that us Sonic fans have gained over the years because it makes us..... unique. lol
Passion, when it resonates, fuels even more passion; that is a truly beautiful thing. Such a passion has given me a very strange ambition - one that intimidates me greatly due to its magnitude, and the standard I push myself to. Its subject matter leaves me embarrassed to bring it up... Born from someone else's wish yet to be fulfilled; a hope to garner respect for something that is generally mocked and ridiculed. This, of all things, is what I've ended up wanting to form something truly wonderful from. I'm so anxious to mention it that I can't muster being any less vague than this - at least, in the presence of the general public. The few I've had the courage to share it with, if they see this, know what I'm talking about. Anyways, I wish everyone a great day.
Before the fandom of FNAF.... Before the fandom of Undertale.... Before the fandom of Gravity Falls.... There was.... THE SONIC FANDOM. In my opinion, one of the pioneers of modern fandoms.
Favorite aspect is joining the Sonic Riders TE discord, a modded spinoff game specifically for competitive racing is where I was able to meet many new people and even would call them my friends, pushing me to better myself and being able to refine my skills in drawing to show off in the art section
The Sonic community is amazing, said it before and I will say it again, the good outweighs the bad in this community by far, there's so many dedicated fans out there that strongly support the series, it's almost kinda crazy but it's so wonderful to see. I hope to be part of the creative community of this series one day.
Man speaks truth! Thanks for this, I genuinely believe this community is cool and decent. It's a shame some people ruin it by bringing others down. Thanks for believing in us. Also, I love your art and I am excited to play the mod xD

Loved the thumbnail!! Cream holding a gun is something I never thought I see! Anyway, what I loved about the Sonic community is that they are very dedicated to the franchise, even if the games tended to be pretty bad at times. I always loved looking at the fan games and I'm amazed at the hard work and dedication that the fangames have. I hope to see more fangames in the near future!
You know a community is big when they have TWO big community events in their name (SAGE & SHC)! I wish some of the other communities I follow would get some sort of big event, but Nintendo is too strict with their fans, and the Rayman community while being better is too small to make anything substantial or fun. Rayman Redemption, and the mods to improve the PC Rayman games is a nice effort, but the Sonic community is able to make so many more cool mods and fan games within the same amount of time. There hasn't even been a decompilation project for any Rayman games yet!
This is one of the reasons I'm still in the Sonic community, they are so diverse and so creative with what they do and for all i know, the most active one in regard of fan stuff (hope Bomberman got the same treatment ;-;) What Sega or well, sonic team should do is (and i might sound like i meme or a broken record) is that they should work with people making those fan games or ask said creators of the fan games what do they like for the next Sonic game so they can please the majority of the Sonic fans and know what they should do, idk, that would be good, but again, it's really a 50/50 chance if it's good or bad, i would like to believe good but there's a constant reminder on my head about the Sonic Gather Battle incident
This is exactly why I love this community, I’ve made so many great friends because of it and the passion that everyone has for this one blue hedgehog is amazing
Replace dooms eye with Cheese, and this mod will truly be complete And Im glad SOMEBODY made a POSITIVE video about the Sonic Fanbase for once, you love to see it.
A long time ago I was a surface level member of the Sonic community, I soon left it in the dust when I saw people's good fan projects getting so much hate from people in the same community, I saw it so much that I just got sick of seeing it, can nobody give these one man team projects some credit? I hate seeing so much negativity, of course I know there's good people in the community but they share it with so much toxicity, a community as divided as this is why I left it behind.
The sonic community is like comfort food, its something thats always there for ya. For me personally I've done fan art and got sticks the badger in Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart as a collab for fun, Its awesome.
Even though the games aren't perfect, I LOVE SONIC. Crush 40 and Sonic music is the reason I sing today. I can't help but love the blue blur because he created a huge part of my childhood. He inspired my UA-cam channel and everytime I sing a Sonic song, it puts a smile on my face! I really do love this franchise and this community.
The sonic community is so beautiful and even though there is the toxicness of some fans the more you get into stuff it gets overshadowed by the positive things in the sonic community. I guess that's what I like the most about the community the talent and all the positivity
See, the thing about the sonic community is that even though we haven't had a game in years, but we have fan games, animations, mods, rom hacks, plush videos and so much more. But when people make a nintendo fangame, Nintendo deletes all their hard work. I'm very proud to be a part of this community and hope that this 30th anniversary is great! Amazing Video!
I've been a sonic fan since I was a little poopy baby, but haven't been involved with the sonic community until around 2015. And while I'm not a big name or anything, I'm happy to be a part of an awesome and welcoming community of people who care about our blue boi. Artists (which is what I do), fan game designers, cosplayers, music makers, ETC. You are epic gamers.
I first got into the Sonic fandom in middle school, and a lot of people would make fun of me for it. For awhile I kind of just pretended like I never liked the games, but now that I’m older, I love Sonic and know that if it weren’t for him, that time in my life would have been so much harder. Thank you for making this video, more people need to know how awesome the Sonic community is 💖
This motivated me a lot! I was planning on making a mod for SA2B replacing the characters with the Brawl Stars characters, my favorite mobile game. Now I know that I can do it!!
Yeah, I always enjoyed, playing Sonic games, I did not play every single one, on every console generation, but I did played Heroes and Shadow on PS2, and O6 and Generations on PS3. I grew up with Sonic X and Sonic and Tails, I enjoyed the music in the games, not metal, and the fan editions of them as well. The fan animations are awesome and dedicated, and the fan games are great. I'm glad, to be a part of this community. And I'm glad you contrast the bad, with the good part, that the community is, we can't speak for everyone in the community, so if you meet someone bad in the sonic community, that does not automatically mean, "everyone is bad" in the community.
The Sonic Community has it all. From the fanart, its cringe to its badassery, to the modding community, speedrunning community, game development, fan animations (excluding family friendly bs), memes and music with absolutely NO RESTRICTIONS to what you could create. What more could you ask from a community? This is why Sonic is simply the best community you could ask for and THANK YOU SEGA for encouraging your community (Unlike Nintendo)
I had a lot rougher experience with the online Sonic Community. I remember getting treated like trash on Sonic News Network back in 2011 because I saw what Generations really was underneath the nostalgia flavored frosting & was saying how it was a mistake. Luckily I managed to find nicer Sonic Communities after being met with a lot of people hating me on half a dozen different communities. There's a messed up darkside of the Sonic Fanbase & there's an awesome side to it which I love.
I have been a Sonic fan since 1991 and I really like the Sonic Fan Community. Someday I hope to go to a Sonic The Hedgehog convention. (At least when you-know-what ends.) There are tons of fan games that look so good that I think they should be an official game on the market. Two of them are Sonic Utopia and Sonic Project Hero. These two would sell like chili dogs if they were given a physical and/or digital release on game console e-shops. Another thing that I really like are the Sonic OCs. Now I know that for most people, it's easy to poke fun at those things but I actually think they're very creative. It's no different than MLP OCs or Simpsons OCs. Your just creating a fictional version of yourself to show how much you love a certain franchise like Sonic. I think that's "way past cool". Then there's the shipping artwork. This thing is interesting especially since Sega doesn't want any romance in official Sonic media now. When I was a kid, I watched AOSTH, Sonic SatAM and read the Sonic Archie Comics. In all of those versions of Sonic, I have seen stories where Sonic has shown romantic interests with different characters especially Princess Sally. There were stories where Sonic tries to use his charm to seduce Sally and fails humorously. There was even a girl for Tails named Fiona Fox. (Before Cosmo and Zoey) And ever since, some fans decided that they should play matchmaker with the Sonic characters. Sonamy, Sonally, Sonails, etc. Now there are some ships that I do find ridiculous but at the same time, I also admire the artists who put the hard work and dedication into those art ships. In other words, I see Sonic and Tails as just friends but I also admire those artists who make them boyfriend/boyfriend. It is what it is. Another thing that I really admire are Sonic's accomplishments. Besides multiple video games, he's had 5 animated tv shows with a 6th one coming next year, the Sonic Archie Comics were in the Guinness Book Of World Records for "longest running comic book series based on a video game" and "longest running comic book based series that surpassed 'Marvel's Conan The Barbarian'", Sonic IDW Comics are still going strong, an OVA, a hit movie that became "the highest grossing video game movie of all time" (at least for now) and "highest grossing superhero movie of 2020" that surpassed Marvel Studios. And now we have the 30th anniversary of the blue blur. That's pretty impressive. Whatever the next game will be, whether it's Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 remake, Sonic Adventure 3, or something else entirely, I can't wait for June 23, 2021. I am going to have a field day that day with Sonic. Thanks for the video and have a great day. Toot toot, Sonic Warrior!
This community is truly amazing! The moderns must've been skilled to mod Cream this fast in shadow the hedgehog! I never knew I wanted to see Cream with a gun 😅
I’m ridiculously obsessed with every detail of the games, to the point where I know the poly counts of all the character models, I was a casual fan when I started, but I think what pushed me further was the people who hate the franchise, they brought me to defend the games I like and pay more attention to them, as well as the constant incredible fangames getting me even more interested in this fanbase.
Sometimes it feels like sonic is a social experiment, created to inspire people and force them to take what inspired them (sonic) and make it bloom themselves rather than just waiting for the company to make it bloom
#TEAMBLUE4EVER. I'm fucking PROUD to be a Sonic fan/ member of the community! :D Sonic has always been so much cooler, stylish, and funner than Mario because he took risks and and has literally unlimited creativity! :D The fanbase is also really cool because we care and want to see him succeed, that's why we have so much fun making cool content about him!!~ X3
6:40 and 6:54 I Would DEFINITELY pay money for this to be proffesionally released as a physical game. Add a nice artbook and soundtrack CD and we are set!!!
I've always thought that the Sonic fanbase isn't especially weird, we're just louder about our weirdness, in part because it used to be (and sometimes still is) an easy content farming method to drag weird fandoms into the cold light of day and pick them apart for laughs.

After how I was treated by the Sonic community, I can never see it the same ever again.
@@somedork7389 sonic ocs, the tails bench comic, the list goes on man
Though I am sorry about your negative expirences with the fanbase, it isnt perfect but not terrible.

"I'm not a Rat! I'm a HEDGEHOG"
i couldnt help it i swear
Sonc the Blue Rat would like to have a word
When I think of the reason the Sonic fanbase is dedicated, I think of fan games like Project 06.
Video : about community
Title : explaining things happened
Thumbnail : CREAM with GUN. I guess they hire kids at gun
Great!... now for that cream mod you were talking about
Aw, this is such a sweet love letter.
I wouldnt say Sonic drawings is simple but not detailed. Ive drawn Sonic a lot.
that undermines what the developers manage to do
some aspects not even being their fault
Nice new intro and congratulations on 3K subscribers!!
Also thank you, TheHatedGravity for making that work of art lol
This reminds me of that one Sonic Universe cover art where Cream is riding Shadow's motercycle.
congratulations Chaomix, you have inspired me to use a Cream the Rabbit pfp of her holding a assault rifle, much appreciated
Before the fandom of FNAF....
Before the fandom of Undertale....
Before the fandom of Gravity Falls....
There was....
THE SONIC FANDOM.
In my opinion, one of the pioneers of modern fandoms.
You forgot the fandom of Steven Universe
Favorite aspect is joining the Sonic Riders TE discord, a modded spinoff game specifically for competitive racing is where I was able to meet many new people and even would call them my friends, pushing me to better myself and being able to refine my skills in drawing to show off in the art section
Doom’s Eye: You are late, Shadow.
*Cream in Shadow’s place*
Doom’s Eye: You are not Shadow.
Also, I love your art and I am excited to play the mod xD
oh hey I'm early lol
also I wish cream would have a gun in a real game made by sega, that would be sick
Tbh her Chao attacks are stronger than a gun would be.
Damn😂,I wanna See When Cream Say "Where that damn 4th Chaos Emerald" 😂.
Btw about sonic community.i actually happy about the community. Also,Sonic community make Sonic Franchise better,You know..
You got a debuff: Soap!
You can’t speak for three turns!
This is one of the reasons I'm still in the Sonic community, they are so diverse and so creative with what they do and for all i know, the most active one in regard of fan stuff (hope Bomberman got the same treatment ;-;)
What Sega or well, sonic team should do is (and i might sound like i meme or a broken record) is that they should work with people making those fan games or ask said creators of the fan games what do they like for the next Sonic game so they can please the majority of the Sonic fans and know what they should do, idk, that would be good, but again, it's really a 50/50 chance if it's good or bad, i would like to believe good but there's a constant reminder on my head about the Sonic Gather Battle incident
Lol, Cream + gun is a favorite topic of my discord server as well.
This is exactly why I love this community, I’ve made so many great friends because of it and the passion that everyone has for this one blue hedgehog is amazing
It’s great being a part of the community like you said it’s so diverse with moders and just artists oh yeah and forget the diverse of fan games
That cream the rabbit holding a gun reminds me of the sonic gmod videos by miles guy
Chaomix really went "we live in a sonic community" from a cream mod made for shadow the hedgehog on the gamecube
Seeing a 6 year old with a gun is something only the sonic fandom will think of and i love it
Thanks thehatedgravity 👍
First and I saw the tweet on twiter to good intro and yeah the community is different
Sonic GT and Utopia are some of the best examples for this. They're amazing
It reminds me of Jazz Jackrabbit.
I knew about the Cream mod, and I thought you were going to say that someone had already made it
Videos are getting better and better with each upload, congrats!
Your videos are great and very informative, keep' em coming!
Subbed!!
0:30 CREAM HAS A GUN, NOW WE MUST RUN-
That's for neutral special, but for chaotic special she wields a cream launcher....oh wait she is a girl
Replace dooms eye with Cheese, and this mod will truly be complete
And Im glad SOMEBODY made a POSITIVE video about the Sonic Fanbase for once, you love to see it.
Vanilla wont be too happy that Cream learnt such violence. She's gonna have a long talk with Mr. Shadow.
The sonic community is like comfort food, its something thats always there for ya.
For me personally I've done fan art and got sticks the badger in Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart as a collab for fun, Its awesome.
your art is AMAZING!
This was a very good video.
I can always come up with a good story to write when it has to do with Sonic.
The only reason I clicked because of the drawing of Cream packing an uzi
See, the thing about the sonic community is that even though we haven't had a game in years, but we have fan games, animations, mods, rom hacks, plush videos and so much more. But when people make a nintendo fangame, Nintendo deletes all their hard work. I'm very proud to be a part of this community and hope that this 30th anniversary is great!
Amazing Video!
"good, never give guns to a five year old, that would be irresponsible" -Shadow the hedgehog
When I see cream with a gun, it just reminds me of Miles Guy sonic universe's version of cream. Any fans of miles guy, where you at?
Love the thumbnail
There's a messed up darkside of the Sonic Fanbase & there's an awesome side to it which I love.
imagine seeing cream with a machine gun pointed right at you💀
I have been a Sonic fan since 1991 and I really like the Sonic Fan Community.
When Collision Chaos (Good Future) started playing I thought someones was calling me lol. That theme makes for a good ringtone.
cream looking for that damn fourth chaos emerald
Still waiting for that Unleashed pc port lol
Loving your content, man!
This community is truly amazing! The moderns must've been skilled to mod Cream this fast in shadow the hedgehog! I never knew I wanted to see Cream with a gun 😅
Nice video! The unleashed project for PC Sonic Generations w/ Luigi model was a fun time. :]
Thank you for making this a reality
The Thumbnail: Let's make pain
Me: No not cream
Thank you TheHatedGravity, I like your profile picture, and you made a hilarious mod.
Cream after not appearing in the games and growing up to be a teenager off screen:
Couldn't have put it better, myself, man, awesome job.
"Where's that DAMN chocola chao?"
Sometimes it feels like sonic is a social experiment, created to inspire people and force them to take what inspired them (sonic) and make it bloom themselves rather than just waiting for the company to make it bloom
The thumbnail is the best thing ever made
This UA-cam channel is something different. The videos are of such high quality, yet you only have about 3K subs?!
Keep it up dude!
For her neutral special she wields a gun
#TEAMBLUE4EVER. I'm fucking PROUD to be a Sonic fan/ member of the community! :D Sonic has always been so much cooler, stylish, and funner than Mario because he took risks and and has literally unlimited creativity! :D The fanbase is also really cool because we care and want to see him succeed, that's why we have so much fun making cool content about him!!~ X3
You know you are a epic dude
6:40 and 6:54 I Would DEFINITELY pay money for this to be proffesionally released as a physical game.
Add a nice artbook and soundtrack CD and we are set!!!
3:56 Chaomix... you jinxed it WE waited 5 years for frontiers just so you could prove a point
I've always thought that the Sonic fanbase isn't especially weird, we're just louder about our weirdness, in part because it used to be (and sometimes still is) an easy content farming method to drag weird fandoms into the cold light of day and pick them apart for laughs.
I absolutely love the thumbnail to this video! 😆
Really thought we were about to get a skill share plug at 1:35.
Thanks!
2013 Sonic fandom: OMG Sonic 06 killed the series and Sonic 3 is the only good game
2020 Sonic fandom: HEHEHE Blue rat goes fast....All Sonic games have reedeeming qualities
It’s mainly genesis only fanboys who felt that way but they’ve been pretty much drowned out of the fanbase thankfully.
