Nice video. In regards to the aggressive downshift while in tow haul mode I found the same thing. What I figured out is once it downshift to the gear you want for slowing, you have to take your foot off the brake completely and let the exhaust brake work. If you keep on the brake the truck assumes you are trying to stop completely now and will downshift to do that. If you take your foot off the brake it thinks you are just slowing down and will hold the gear you are in with the exhaust brake applied.
Loving our ‘23 2500 Tradesman CC 4wd. Pulls our 14k pound fifth wheel with ease. I added Timbrens to keep the rear level. Spot on about the exhaust brake… RAM has the best one for sure.
@@JakesTruckandTrailers No. not really. If it has a Cummins, I’m buying it. Still have the nicest interior too. Also, I’d like to see your race trailer because I’m buying a Ram CTD for the same reason. I’d really like an enclosed gooseneck.
If you ever tow an enclosed gooseneck and you dont have a shortbed already, buy a long bed, these enclosed trailers will test your limits if you ever get in sticky situations, also airbags are a must when towing leveled, my 2012 srw 3500 does wonders with a 48ft enclosed
@Just Truck'n Around they have mount extenders as well that push the gooseneck further back, it effects the pin weight slightly but it's worth the extra turning radius. Nice rig
I first pulled a 32 foot gooseneck with 2022 2500. Power was great but all over the road in mountains. Hated the truck. Missed the leaf springs. The coils were terrible. Put some 5000 pounds airlifts on, huge difference. Handles much better.
I love your truck and that’s a really nice trailer! Personally, Ram has really figured out their suspension to be as comfortable as possible and still tow exceptionally well. The Cummins has more than enough power to pull anything you put behind it, but unfortunately payload isn’t great with the 10,000 lbs GVWR. I have the same truck and just out of curiosity does your DPF gauge in the dash work? Mine never moves off zero, and according to the letter I got after ordering my truck they didn’t install the particulate matter sensor from the factory due to part shortages. Supposedly there will be a recall to have the PM sensor installed, but until then the trucks are programmed to regenerate every 24 engine hours. Keep up the great work!
Yep it sure does work! I rarely see it off zero but I did just once see it at about 10 percent. My truck after I passed 20k miles started doing a regen every 750 miles or so (I believed its scheduled cuz the gauge for the DPF will still be at zero). But it gets mega fuel eco after every regen! But yeah the pulling power of the SO Cummins honestly blows my mind. More than ever I appreciate the truck I've got cuz it really does great!
I see you have a tapered front on your trailer. Do you have any issues making a 90 degree turn? What's the total weight of the trailer once your toys are inside? 8K?
No problems at all! I have about 6 inches of clearance at worst but normally a foot or more. And with all my stuff for my track days at most I’ll be at about 8500 pounds. I took my two buddies to the track with me and we were just shy of 10k when we did that.
@@JakesTruckandTrailers thanks for the reply. I would like to get 38'-40' Intec and put no more than 11k gross on it. I still want to pull with a gaser though. From what you described, your Cummings is way too much truck for your set up. So, if I pulled with a 2500 6.4, based on your experience, the rear coils and possibly air bags would be adequate to control a trailer like yours?
@@elderrob The 6.4 is more than up to the task, $500 for some air bags and you are good to go. I'm doing the same. They are still selling 4500's and 5500's with the 6.4, highly underrated engines.
Nice truck! Sending good vibes your way…ram warranty is as much crap as ford. 😢. I love my truck and came to grips I will fix the weak points myself as they break.

Just bought me a 2022 2500 6.7 Longhorn, and love it so far! Can’t wait to go camping!

I ordered a 2024 3500 Limited Mega Cab. No pricing available yet, but order was accepted.
No kidding! I’d be very very interested to see if there’s a new truck for the 24 year or if it’ll be almost the same
@@JakesTruckandTrailers it doesn’t sound like it. Wheelbase is the same, 68rfe. I didn’t see any changes, same available options.
@@fivesfilms good way for Ram to lose a large amount of sales to Ford and GM I'd think

3500 are leaf springs day and night vs the 2500 rear coil springs.

Rams can pull hard with very little fan fair. Typical Cummins
