Heck this thing would be top of the line period when it comes to shotguns if someone can figure out how to make this thing take shells from the sledgefire or similar blasters.

@@srloins6613 Thanks for the support. :) The reason i didn't do that is because getting them to lock in properly would be very difficult and it would reduce the overall space i would have to work with. 5 dart shotguns would probably be impossible and triple mega would definitely be impossible. however it's still an idea that has promise. maybe I'll try it out sometime.
Oh my gosh! That is Awesome! I love the Slingfire stock, and your paint job looks better then the regular. 50 fps average is really good, considering some regular mega blasters only average 60 fps. A shot gun mega blaster, I am so glad you did this, because I know I couldn’t. It is very cool!
I do a lot of model painting in my free time and one of the ways that we like to mask complex areas is with poster tack. You can mold and press it into small crevices and around odd curves and then just use tape over the larger middle areas. It's a little more prep work but you can airbrush or can it to your heart's content afterwards.
_Finally, Nerf Mega Shotgun_ This mod does look amazing, which makes me kinda wish Hasbro should've done this in first place, but gladly we have Nerf modding community to make this mod possible. I might doing similar mod in future if I get my hands on the Boomdozer!
2:30 I don't think you need to worry I believe the way it works is (for the caldwell), it detects the first disturbance at the front gate, then the first disturbance at the rear gate. with end of disturbance (dart length) being thus irrelevant. Some simpler single gate chronos of course you do need to be concerned about. as they would rely on the timing of disturbance start and end.

Cool mod. A correction on your thoughts concerning the chronograph. The chronograph uses Two light sensors that the projectiles fly over. It is doing a simple velocity calculation (Velocity = Distance/Time) based on the measurement of the amount of time it takes for the leading edge of the dart (or group of darts) to travel between the sensors (a known distance). The length of the projectile or group is not a factor. My guess as to why your readings vary so much is that how the darts fit makes a huge difference when one air stream is shooting three at once. If all three fit evenly, one will experience the lowest possible velocity because the air is evenly distributed. If two are tight and one is not, one will experience the highest possible velocity, since the two tight fitting darts are (for a moment) directing greater airflow to the loose dart, and it will travel much faster than the other two.
I helped chicken come up with the geometry... we kinda had some issues with the diameter of the barrels because when i export from blender as an x3d, i can print a 20.1mm diameter "throat" for my project (0.4mm nozzles will shrink by exactly 0.2mm, leaving it at about 19.9) and giving it a pretty well perfect seal. doing this with solidworks/fusion files led to them being way the hell too loose. But, eventually we ended up going back to the starting tightness and I said "copy the geometry of elite and sledgefire shells, the divot in the center should save some filament and also reduce head rub." or something similar, originally stock megas would catch on the end sometimes, but in the end we worked it out. I'll definately be trying to work on mine in the future.

So you modified a blaster and it no longer shoots the new darts it was designed for... have no fear! These things are slightly bigger than Demolisher Rockets internally. They fit PERFECTLY on the cosmetic barrel extensions from Worker and other brands. I removed the barrel from my Kriss Vector Stryfe and stuck it in my Conquest Pro. Stuck a Mega XL dart on the end, primed, and yeeted it across my apartment. Perfect fit!
@@drflux it did! I did find there is a lot of inconsistencies with MEGA, so I would often only have 2/3 fire unless I hand picked three that fit EXACTLY the same. I always meant to go back for the spring upgrade, and just have been constantly distracted by other projects - so many blasters so little time.
I know they haven't gained much popularity, but 1/2Length MEGA do everything for projectile accuracy that 1/2 length Elite darts do for that projectile's accuracy. Just saying, if you're interested in an 'accurate' Mega Dart, that can fly 20'farther compared to standard Mega without a real increase in muzzle velocity.
The boomdozer hydra shotgun, or the boomdozer mega barrage-shot mod ? I don't know exactly what name fits the best for this mod. I looks great so far, I kind of see this as a weapon from Waterworld or maybe Borderlands.
i just bought a boomdozer at thrift store for $4 bucks! im gonna do all this, but just for the big darts...the im gonna custom paint/fabricate so that it's a post apocalyptic! GONNA BE RAD!
I think the elite would b better 4 a shotgun setup, mostly because the smaller size allows 4 more darts 2 b fired, and because elite darts aren’t accurate, they can provide 4 a wider spread, essentially increasing ur chances of hitting something
Personally I wouldn't prefer buckshot mega because that means there is less buckshot which defeats the whole purpose of the shotgun in the first place, the smaller the darts the more you can fit.
the main reason to buckshot mega is HvZ or shield games. if you know there are special infected that are weak to mega, being able to corner clear with mega buckshot is safer

Around 3 grams for Mega XL.
That way lower than all the other measurements I've seen. AmericanFoam measured at 6g.
