He is right. Our setup is personal...but work this out, on Clarinet I use Vandoren b45 m/piece, Vandoren 2 and a half reeds, & the old fashioned 2 screw (on reed side) ligature. Very basic. After spending a fortune over years experimenting I find that this works for me. Any comments? We learn by sharing.
Deryck Trahair I would suggest Vandoren V56 reeds cause they normally don’t require any sanding and have a much darker sound than the traditional blue box or V12
You mean on his clarinet? I thought so too. He also says he plays a "T 16" mpc on tenor, but I think he meant the V 16 series... and the opening, for now, will remain a mystery. ;-)
It's obvious what saxophone equipment he's using but how does he achieve that neck tie knot?
I think it is a Trinity knot. You can find directions here: www.businessinsider.com/18-ways-to-wear-a-necktie-chart-2013-11
Great resource, thanks James. I appreciate that!
(I do also appreciate Victor's resources)
See you tonight in Detroit, Victor!!🎷🔥🎵
and yes Toby Luk it is a MO ligature

what are the properties one wants for a jazz clarinet mouthpiece?
as open tip opening as possible, but you must be able to control it. ( be in tune) giving you a wide sound
Any suggestions who to listen to for that gorgeous tenor sound??
sonny stitt, sonny rollins, sonny clark
Raeed Ahmed it's always the ones named sonny😂😂
Equipment check… , and we get a 10 min concert…. 😏

Did he say T16 but actually meant V16?
+Lester Simon V16 mouthpiece, T7 tip opening. Like the one he's playing in the video.
