Two Roller Coasters, One Pricey Park: Our Honest Review of Castles 'n' Coasters in Phoenix, Arizona

  • When Derrick's parents told us they were moving to Arizona, we had one question: Where are the nearest roller coasters?
(Okay, we had MANY more practical and pressing questions than that, but you know!)
Unfortunately, as beautiful as the state of Arizona is: the state is severely lacking in roller coasters (Mattel Adventure Park looks to start to fill that gap, but not until 2025!) Some of the only roller coasters in the state live at a little "fun spot" type park called Castles 'n' Coasters in Phoenix, Arizona.
Castles 'n' Coasters is very much split between being a mini amusement park and an extravagant mini golfing destination. On one half of the property is 4 separate mini golf courses - while on the other half of the property are a ton of little rides (and two roller coasters) smashed in together like a can of sardines. It's crazy just how many rides they have sandwiched into this park!
We were there to ride Desert Storm and Patriot and surprisingly: they coasters weren't all that bad. They aren't intense, thrill machines, but they weren't super rough or janky either!
Since the only way to ride anything in this park is to pay for an all-day pass, we also rode the log flume, the bumper boats, and the go-karts.
Speaking of that all-day pass - it's QUITE expensive all things considered! At just shy of $50 a person, this is not a cheap experience in the least! I think this officially wins as the most expensive two roller coaster credits we have ever gotten.

I always loved C&C. I grew up going to Lagoon in Utah, but spent many days here. It was always nice to have a cool place to go when it was so hot like the arcade and still have more fun. It was also a good introduction for my girls as we prepared for a trip to Disneyland. Lagoon was a good second step. They did great even going on Guardians and the Incredicoaster which they definitely would not have if they didn’t have all the priming. 😋

@@AdventuringAbbeys hopefully our next construction update will be out in a few weeks (assuming more stuff has happened while we have been out on our Midwest coaster trip haha)

Thanks for covering our Arizona thrill park!! 😅 Seriously though, growing up in Arizona, we used to always just go to SoCal for the coaster fix.

I can definitely see that! We actually carved out a few days to visit SoCal during our trip to Arizona, just so we could ride some more coasters!

I enjoy castles n coasters. It's almost never too crowded, and if you ride every ride, it works out to 5.00 a ride. Which honesty is not that bad. If you break down what they rode, it comes to around 8.00 a ride. Ride more rides to get a better value. You can walk around the entire park without having to pay. You only need to pay if you are riding the rides. Which means that unlike bigger parks, you can bring that family member who likes to watch and hang out but doesn't like to ride.

That's a great point - that family members who don't want to ride, don't have to pay anything to walk around the park! That's definitely a nice perk! (I just wish they had more of a "ticketing" style system like Knoebels in Pennsylvania where you can pay for an unlimited, all-day pass OR you can pay for JUST the rides you want to ride - that would be the best of both worlds!)

It’s the price and selective hours that made me not visit. And I visit phx and flg multiple times a year.

Yeah - it was a one-and-done visit for us, but we couldn't pass it up on our last trip to Phoenix!

Even though the lines weren't long, there were A LOT of people in the park! Tons of people having picnics and hanging out!
