A brilliant man, who seemed to love nothing more than learning for its own sake and then sharing what he learned, a master of understanding of mythology. I hope soon PBS will replay his outstanding series with Bill Moyers 'The Power of Myth'.

This is a beautiful ritual and unfortunately in our modern society, there is this lack of any meaningful initiation ceremony transitioning from childhood to adulthood. Our ancient ancestors (and I speak as someone of European descent) also had such initiation ceremonies, long before Christianization. I was honored to stay for two weeks on the Oglala Lakota Pine Ridge reservation, but was respectful that the sun dance was only for Natives to witness, so I don't know if the Mandan were different but how this painter was able to witness this sacred sun dance.

    • @KenjiSummers
      @KenjiSummers 4 роки тому +3

Jordan’s work is greatly inspired by Campbell’s, this I believe to be true. The difference is Jordan has accepted his cult of personality as the “uncircumcised father” for many lost young (often white) men. Campbell strived to have an understanding of the divine masculine and feminine by searching far across the cross-cultural landscape of myth.

    • @crimepsychic2023

Peterson is ultimately fueled by his own ego - sorry, i can’t compare. Jordan is the academic Russel Brand, same Gemini energy.

Disjointed, hacked up, out of context bits and pieces of Campbell"s message?
The world needs, for example, the full Moyer / Campbell interviews uncut, But this foumdation is instead hacking Campbell's core messages up into tiny little disjointed hacked up bits and pieces. They are doing that as teasers to commercially monetize Campbel's work.
The very nature of Campell's works must remain freely available, intact, in context, and sui- generis on a "giving foot forward" monetization model, which primarily is not the JC Foundation monetization model.
Does this greedy foundation have copyrights on these works?
Why can't anyone post these works up on IE. You Tube etc. free uncut unedited? For instance the full uncut Campbel / Moyers series.
Why is Moyer not acting to counter this outrage?
How to obtain these works intact & unedited now like when Campbell was alive without profiteering? That would be Campbell's will.
The Campbell Foundation, in the guise of proliferating Campbell's body of work, is instead fragmenting it for commercial monetary motives.
    So aggravating!
Seriously any effort to keep Campbell's work free, and free of being hacked up, and free of being exploited by the world system, then count us in.
Metaphorically speaking: God was out for a stroll one day with the devil following along & imitating God. God was carrying something "he" had picked up along the way. The devil runs up and asks. "whatcha got there God?" God replies, "I got the truth." The devil then says," give it to me & I will organize it for you!".
JC Foundation you need to stop "money changing on the temple steps".

I'm irritated with these short videos! Why do you cut everything into 4 min snippets? I think joseph Campbell would detest this practice of fragmenting his message. Please post the full unedited interviews or documentary!!

Although none of us remember being in heaven with God, we are basically the same inside, and our interests with it. I could see Joseph in heaven summing up what we were all doing around God, aside from those of us who where right up there with us. Its to bad he died and such is the case with most people I run across, he would have found me and my life very interesting, and maybe I could have shed enough insight so he could figure things out. I did the hero's journey, just as he told it, I was rather fascinated by it, because not to many people would know such details. But I do believe he learned enough so when he gets to heaven, he will figure it out when its told to him.

Unfortunately, we are usually only humbled through hardships and heartache. It's up to us whether we experience more and more trials and tragedy at more severe levels, depending on whether we all them to harden us repeatedly. Sometimes we need to be brought to our knees and have our heart broken open in order to clearly see, but sometimes we don't stay in that state. When the trials ease up we become hardened again i.e. become judemental without the compassionate ability to see the reasons why people do what they do from a collective perspective. Hence, the ever increasing tragedies being faced today. And tomorrow. We can only expect things to get worse in the world. If we aren't humbled, we won't be able to handle it.
It's not an option, everyone will face it. And of course it's usually when one is already down and "can't take anymore" and then some. Just like the torture story Campbell told. Knowing we're in a "fallen" state, and that it could take wasting a lifetime before being humbled, many practices were used to expedite the process, on themselves and others and routinely..... because there is no "staying" power without force of will and self discipline, even to "live your bliss". There's literally no "aha" moment, and that's that, the end of story. It's forever ongoing "aha" moments, each a more indepth level of understanding than before. If we're not applying effort in choosing our thoughts and choosing our perceptions in which we see the world through, we literally aren't thinking for ourselves.. leaving us wide open to become overrun and ruled by mind chatter. Thus ending up a reactionary slave to the subconscious mind (stored information, opinions, beliefs, shoulda coulda woulda's, where past and future exist) because we foolishly think and believe that the mind chatter Is Us doing the thinking! But it's not. We're just reacting to it, usually in agreement and obedience, not realizing we're not living our lives. Everything is frequency including thought. The "gift of God's free will" is a force, a magical power of sorts. Force is what causes motion. Our will is the force that creates the life we experience. We've been lulled into a brain entrainment of sorts and can't see it, and have to fight harder for it now more tban ever.
