2005 GMC Sierra 1500
Started out with 3.5" Rough Country leveling kit (comes with new shocks and keys) on 18s and 33s. Then a year later, went bigger with 6" Rough Country lift kit on 18s and 35s. Right before it go sold, it was on 20x10 and 35s. Not too bad for my first truck build and I'm happy with the transformation.

I got a 04 z71 5.3L v8 for 2,300 no rust and it’s a 2500 110k miles

It’s funny how similar your first truck is to mine. Mines an 06 extended cab however. Same color, almost the same headlights, and I’ve got 18x9 Fuel Hostages on mine as well lol. I was debating a 6inch lift and I think you just sold me on it.

Im going to NC for Easter an coming home with my grandfathers 01 Sierra. So I'm lookin at small upgrades. Lookin at 3 to 6 inch lift wheel tires an exhaust.

Extended cab etc. I have the same color and I’ve been searching with someone with the same color and I really like the smoked headlights and the chrome front and chrome back bumper. Just bought a 2004 silverado z71 1500. I average 17mpg with 200k, rebuilt trans, fuel pump, and several other things for $3800. Runs like a raped ape, can't wait to start the build
I just got the same truck with 285k on it for $500 and it needs a lot of work but it's better then spending 20-30 thousand

Loved this story, only thing I found funny is the "loaded down trailer". 3 days ago I towed my 20 foot enclosed trailer packed to the tits (7605 pounds) over 600 miles through the mountains with my half ton. Sure it was a bit slow going up hills but the truck handled it just fine! 10/10 would do it again!
Are you on 35s and 6” lift too? Truck felt much sluggish after 35s and pulling a trailer didn’t help
@@JWMontoya this is true. Mine has 33s at stock height but that's nothing compared to 35s.

@@JWMontoya only way to solve this is to put different gear ratios to restore the power . Should've had 3:42 gear ratio. I did the exact same set up on a 2006 and went back with 3:73's. I didnt want to lose a lot of top end power with the 4:10 ratio but had I went 37s I would've ( I also had 3 in body lift ). I just went with a different offset and wider wheels and tires. 22x9

I’m not really sure what you mean. Everything is in the video, you just have to write them down
If you would have regeared that truck, it would have pulled a lot better. Those trucks have the power, but you have to regear if you want to do anything else than drive around and look cool

Exactly I have the same question how did you find a 05 Sierra Z71 off-road and you only have under 120,000 on it when you bought it you must have known the person really well or it was a family member because I have a 2001 SLE Sierra extended cab 5.3 l two-wheel drive and I spent six grand for it with about 80,000 miles 6 years ago

I got a z71 gmc 2000 extended cab for 2,500 it has 290k miles and need to fix the transmission is it a good deal for these type of times ?
If it has a duramax and you can get the trans done for less then 3k its a steal.
Truck looks great. Word to the wise, anyone reading this. Do not get eBay tow mirrors.. 1A Auto makes a set far superior to even OEM in my opinion. Had an eBay set. Mirror fell off.. janky, not sturdy. Better off spending another 150 or so getting a set that is amazing quality. The Marker light looks way better than any OEM mirror. Wrap the caps with vinyl for cheap too. 3M.

Your 5.3 struggled to pull a trailer filled with church equipment? My 4,8 pulls over 5500 pounds weekly and does fine.
That plus luggage for 100+ people. Bed and the trailer fully loaded with luggage and everything we need for a week. Spent a lot of time going over mountains that summer too
Is your 4.8 lifted on 35s too? My 5.3 felt sluggish just from the 35s
JW Montoya it depends on the trailer honestly I load my bed up with pallets and my trailer with furniture or pianos 260k runs strong
@@JWMontoya Currently got a 04 1500, black crew cab shortbed with the 5.3, have 33inch Duratracs on halfton high country wheels, plenty of power, overloaded towing 10k, (5k trailer and 5k truck). You could tell it was back there but towed just fine.
My 5.3 on 35s sure didn’t like the Mountains of NC and GA that summer 😂
