- Genesis play live at the VH1 Rock Honors. There is some discussion about in which tempo to play the song Turn it on again. They take it up a little bit. Watch the bit at the end where Genesis discus what went wrong at the beginning of the song. Audio on the song is improved compared to original version.
That were fantastic decades of my youth when this song came out. Certainly one of the best periods ever 😛😎😎
I was lucky enough to see these guys, back in 2007, in Chicago and it was one of the best shows I ever saw. It was also great cuz Phil was in relatively good health and even still drumming. But, unfortunately, that was his last tour to do so. The rest of the guys were playing great & you could tell they were really happy to be back. I thought that was their final tour but, wouldn’t you know it, they’re back again.
Hope to see them again, at least one more time, before they finally hang it up.
Hey I was there night one in Chicago. The running man got stuck during The Cage medley. Saw them in Cleveland and Detroit on that tour as well.
Pucker song, well done boys. I love This Band. Genesis it’s a perfect band
Always said this, perfect band.
crazy how you feel the energy of the whole scene and the sync drumming turns it up even more...
That's what you get when you have 3 perfectionists working together... Well done as always.
Blessing!! Perfect timing!
🥀Amazing Performance Guy's Thank's for posting this video it's priceless and unbelievable🥀✌🥀☝️
Sounds perfectly fine to me ☺️
love the dialogue. now I know why I love them so much, they fit so great together, sliding right off each other and into their own space then bouncing right back into and off each other again. Such a strong connection between these guys! It’s palpable. Magic music they create as a result..
And I just love the speed at which they speak! Aaagh fan girling over here.. gah the world needs more Genesis, serious.
Edit: sorry, not “fine”.. it sounds perfect. more upbeat than usual with an urgency that I like for this time..
BOSTON JOHNNY SAYS, "COME BACK GENESIS! "

Que genios por dios
Great show, I've got it on video and keep watching it every chance I get, it's just a shame these three folks keep ignoring their past. That's all I've to say.
Génesis es genial una agrupación atodo terreno en pesando por su vocalista phil que fantástico escuchar los grade por siempre César de chile....
Chester baby!!!!!
I hadn"t seen Chester play left handed / right hand kit before....Wonder why?
Observe:
Human beings...musicians.
Playing instruments...without dancers.
At an awards show.
I have to laugh because I only really understood every other word in their post-mortem. But I get the gist of it: it was played too fast for Phil! :)
I like the Xero Shoes ads. I have a pair.
love it...
Hilarious frenetic discussion at the end. They all took it up a bit.
Wasn't too fast and Phil did fine. Played with it a little.
❤❤❤❤❤
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
genesis was a good original band with Gab ! later it became a swiss band ! Collins lived in bursin , a very cool village not too far from lausanne , in the vine yard ! very big house etc ! swiss is a good land to sleep all day !
Once again peter Gabriel stinks. He is so overrated and he can't sing the high notes much less sing.
@@amandabooth6138 two wrongs don’t make a right. can’t build up Phil by tearing down Pete. their voices are different. besides, neither one can sing too high nowadays…
You're insane. @@amandabooth6138
♥️♥️♥️♥️🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Lo que es este tema x favor!
💗💗💗💗
Chesters DW’s sound way better than his Sonor’s
Too slow! Listen to version on three sides live, it’s faster.
It's as fast as the studio version.
Fast or slow it doesn't matter the audience didn't know the song anyways. Shame it could have been real fans there instead of people who just got lucky, and had no idea what they were seeing.
They sound more than happy enough to me. You don’t think VH1 invited any fans to honor the band?
They were right to pick it up! They played it slightly too slow for most of this tour
I can show you, l can show you...

So who was playing bass?
It's usually Mike Rutherford who plays the bass lines on his Moog Taurus II bass pedals, while playing the rhythm guitar at the same time.
"Turn It On" was never written to have a bass guitar on it, even on the Duke album. The low end that you hear comes from the bass synth pedals.
Daryl Stuermer plays the bass pedals on TOA live
@@knust2329 correct. Daryl plays the rhythm drone-type guitar throughout the song while also playing the bass pedals. He used to have to tap his foot for every single note but they adjusted the pedals to play the extra half note per tap to save his foot a little 😂
@@StratmanII In performance, Daryl plays bass on all post-Hackett songs while Mike plays guitar. On older songs, Mike plays bass while Daryl plays guitar.
@@bwakser That's generally true, but there are exceptions in which Daryl and Mike switched roles when they play live. Daryl plays the guitar on Behind The Lines, Duke's Travels and Duke's End while Mike is on bass. Duke is definitely a post Hackett album.
You can see Daryl play Mike's guitar parts in the Live in Rome (2007) concert opening, Live at The Lyceum Theater (1980) and their Three Sides Live tour on video (1983).
It’s too fast, but we’ll carry on anyway. 😂
I'm not sure it is actually. Check it on a metronome. Its pretty well spot on.
Twas..
@@TIMG128 the song is in 13/8 time so a metronome wouldn’t be suitable would it?!
@@Eleventhearlofmars Yes, it’d be fine.....tempo is tempo. The time signature is irrelevant.
@@Eleventhearlofmars what, you don't think you can use a metronome in odd time signatures?
Is that the current and real Cripple? He’s doing good, far better than I thought.
?
But this was 13 years ago.
2007... The description happens to have this detail.
Oh I’m sorry I couldn’t read the full description on this narrow screen.
Dude get out of here...
Sounds out of tune to me!!
They are playing it in a different key I suppose so it was easier for Phil to sing.
Wasn't too fast and Phil did fine. Played with it a little.
Stinky Phil.
Shut up ZERO LESSOR THAN HERO...
Pass gut auf dich auf. Du bist ganz schnell verschwunden und niemand wird dich vermissen ;)
