What do you call this style of character with the smaller head, large body, no facial features, etc? I have seen it before, even in magazines going back to the 1980s. How do you proportion such a character?
This is a trendy flat style. I draw traditionally and digitally in different styles, so proportions to me are just a values. I look at them as on a composition and experiment. If I draw traditionally, I make sure that all proportions are correct. If I draw in flat style, I don’t care about the proportions. It’s more about the design of shapes I would say.

Open Brushes panel, select ‘open brush library’ from the little menu on top right. Then ‘Artistic’ and experiment. I used Chalk-Pencil brush mostly 👋
