same here, my cleaning light came on. It's not enough to just press cleaning button, it won't clean unless the filter is removed. Thanks for posting the video
I've had this coffee maker for years (8-9??). I'm actually on my 2nd one, first lasted about 5 years. No issues with it other than the button labels wear off. I do the brew timer every night. Fresh grind (I know... the grounds sit around for 8-10 hours). Timer is flawless. The features I required were a carafe (hate burnt coffee) and a timer. We have 3 coffee drinkers who wake on a 1.5 hour variation which requires the carafe. Very good coffee. I came to see if there was a way to disassemble and then reassemble the lid. I won't try as someone below posted their's came apart and they couldn't put it back together. The black plastic carafe handle piece will twist off and go back on. No reason to do it though as there is no access to parts requiring cleaning. Wish the lid disassembled.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It’s always helpful to hear from folks who have owned the product for a few years. I’ve had it for over a year now and am still enjoying it. Thanks again!
Great explanation on how to set the timer for “brew later”, however I was looking for ‘how to set the clock. I have figured it out, but bee aware that the wording will disappear with a few wipes during cleaning, so this video did help in that case.. The only other thing not mentioned in your video is how dang heavy the carafe is when trying to pour. You being a man maybe didn’t notice, but for me I remove the lid and pour then replace the lid. Thank you for this video, i do love my coffee maker. Great video.
I have had this coffee pot for about two months now and the clean light just came on. Thank you for explaining how to clean it! So far it's been my favorite coffee pot because I love that the carafe stays hot for a long time. It doesn't make the coffee taste weird like the heated plates do. I work from home so having coffee stay fresh for a long time is a huge bonus. Have you used it without the filter? I don't really see the point of having it.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I no longer use the water filter in my machine. The filters are expensive and in a side by side comparison, I couldn’t taste a significant difference. Perhaps I’m just used to how our tap water tastes. 😃I’d prefer to spend the $ on quality coffee. I also don’t miss having one more thing to rinse off every day. Thanks again!
That’s strange. Let me know if you figure out what it is. Maybe they’ve started using cheaper materials in the carafe. Does the coffee taste different? Maybe the heating element is defective.
I pour boiling water in my carafe and drop a cascade dishwasher pod into it and let it sit for 60 minutes. Pour out the contents and rinse extremely well. It is spotless!
I do essentially the same with dishwasher liquid and just hot tap water. Do this about every 3-4 months tho. Bottle brush vigorously every day and rinse thoroughly.
Great job! Very complete, well scripted and thought out. I like the transitions. It is very slightly annoying to look at moving hands though throughout.
This is my second Mr coffee thermal optimal brew. I love it, and have convinced family members to purchase as well. The one problem that I noticed with both is that my thermal drips a wee bit at the seems, where plastic meets metal. It's annoying. I debated on returning and getting another but based on my history with the thermal pot, decided not to.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I think a drip from the carafe would drive me crazy. If it’s still under warranty, reach out to Mr. Coffee and see if they’ll send you another. You might get lucky.
I’ve had mine for several years. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t keep my coffee hot for long. My clock display light just went out. Do you know we can fix that?
I certainly enjoy taking things apart, but haven’t had reason to dismantle it yet. Other folks have noted in the comments that this model is difficult to take apart, so I’m not sure if it’s serviceable. Sorry to hear the clock has failed so soon, but thank you for sharing that. It’s helpful when people share their experiences.
I hope you can help. I love this coffee pot look, its so sleek and pretty., I bought it at goodwill but it does not Brew coffee, No water gets filled Into pot and no noise is made when plugged in. When I hit the brew now button nothing happens. what am I doing wrong?
It doesn't sound as if you're doing anything wrong. The machine may have some issues however. For example, a sticky plumber, bad one-way valve, blockage, or sensor issue, which would explain why the water isn't moving. You could start troubleshooting by filling the reservoir over the sink, and then manually pushing up the plunger (again, do this over the sink) to see if water is able to get out of the reservoir. The plunger's rubber gasket can get stuck if the machine hasn't been used in a while. If the plunger isn't the issue, try removing the reservoir from the machine and blowing into the water intake hole on the base to confirm that water can travel into the machine. There's likely a one way valve (basically a back flow preventer) that only allows water to travel from the reservoir into the machine and not in the other direction. If you can't blow any air into the hole there may be a blockage somewhere in which case you may need to open the machine up or at least try to clean what you have access to. Good luck!
Invader coffee has some of the best coffee I’ve ever had! I love how the original invader blend is air roasted, preventing the beans from being too acidic or burnt, but my favorite coffee that they offer is the mexican chocolate. It is the smoothest best flavored coffee blend that I have ever had!! Another good blend that I’ve tried is the Whiskey blend which is my third favorite. No bitterness yet deep flavor, it is to die for!! Finally I love how the company is run by a vertern and how the website is super user friendly and delivery is fast and on time. I highly, highly, highly suggest you get yourself some invader coffee.
Yikes! Wipe away any mold using white vinegar and let it sit before rinsing. If you have a steam cleaner you can kill the mold that way too. Good luck!
Makes great coffee as long as it lasts. We liked the features, the look, etc. Lasted about 2 months at one pot a day. I just tried to take it apart to search the problem and I could not break in to the interior without damaging the case. It has simply quit heating the water. Very disappointed. We found the carafe did not keep the coffee hot any longer than about 2 hours. Our cuisinart lasted 12 years and made good coffee til the last pot. No more mr coffee for us!
Larry Lee Thank you for sharing this helpful information. It’s important for folks to know that yours didn’t last. One thing that’s hard to review/test is longevity, which is why your comment is so important. Should mine fail, my next video will be taking it apart. 😕
My decanter lid came apart today, any idea how to put it back together? It's two pieces - decanter lid's lid and decanter lid's cup, but they won't hold when put together. Not sure how they were held together before. I don't see any structural damage and they fit perfectly, just don't hold together, decanter lid's lid comes off.
Interesting question that I don’t have an answer to. I was studying the lid to see how it is held together. It’s possibly a compression fit with adhesive or clips. Without taking it apart, but then potentially sharing your predicament I don’t know for sure.
I have two questions: 1- Can I heat the coffee in the carafe without having to pour it into another container? 2- How often should it be cleaned with vinegar?
Thanks for the questions. 1) You cannot reheat the coffee in the pot. You would need to pour it into a small or medium saucepan to heat on the stove or pour it into a microwaveable mug. 2) I clean my pot with vinegar roughly every three months, which isn’t often enough. I’d say once month would probably be enough to avoid staining.
Hi William- Once I had a brew basket, I could make coffee. The coffee machine can be used without a water filter and the part that holds the water filter. I do like this machine, I just had a rocky start given I was missing the brew basket.
BalanR Thanks I got mine today and everything is there, have it ready to go for morning coffee. I don’t think I will use the water filter so glad to know I can remove the holder.
I have had this a few days now and like it just fine. I wanted to know when you got yours and the water filter was missing was it the whole hinged part or just the grey twist on part to hold the filter ? I don't want to use the filter and it would be easier to wash if I removed the whole hinged part but don't want to mess it up and it not work right.
According to the manufacturer's website, "Using the Mr. Coffee® carbon-based water filter in the Mr. Coffee® coffeemaker during the brewing process helps remove up to 97% of the chlorine from the water and improves the taste of your coffee."
I have this coffee pot. I ran the cleaning cycle and now I have an annoying beep that is just one beep about every 2 minutes. I unplugged it and it still beeps. Any suggestions? It will till brew, and all the lights seem to work correctly. I’m at a loss? If you can help it will be greatly appreciated. This is about to drive me nuts.
Nah! It would be on my account. Once mine breaks I’ll take it apart. Sometimes I can fix things, other times I just learn something and say, “Hmmmm. That’s interesting!” and then throw it into the trash. 😃
The CLEAN indicator should turn off automatically once you’ve run a cleaning cycle. If that didn’t happen, unplug the machine, plug it back in, and try running the clean cycle again. Hope that helps!
@@BruceAlanR It stopped making coffee. I have repaired coffee makers before and it has been the temperature fuses or the heating coil or the coil was clogged. This unit, I have not been able to take apart. It looks like you have to destroy it to get inside. I got a few bottom covers off and then could go no further. Try yours and see if you can do it.
Once it no longer works I’ll definitely take it apart, but until then I need coffee! Lol I wonder if they used some sort of non-toxic silicone to hold it together.
Hi Dawn- The cleaning light will not turn off unless you run the Cleaning Function in its entirety (takes about 45 minutes). See the video details to jump to the point in the video on how to clean.
This is a great coffee maker. I bought it from Target 2 years ago, and I have been very happy with it. I am a picky coffee snob, by the way, so I am a tough judge of coffee and brewing systems.
I just got one of these, but the full silver front, out of someone's trash. Brand new. He was throwing away all kinds of good stuff, like this, a new blender, an electric scooter, a Shark brand floor waxer, about 50 other things.
I have a problem where no matter how much water I put in the reservoir, it barely brews a single cup of coffee. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong 😭
Thanks for sharing that. I’ve only experienced that when I forget to empty out the previous day’s coffee from the carafe and try to make 10 cups. Typically a fair amount of water is absorbed and held by the grinds.
For the other Australian’s who don’t use coffee filter machines this video fails to explain where the coffee in the white filter paper goes. I finally found it underneath the water filter which has a lift up top. I feel a bit silly but if you are going to do a 10 minute video you may as well cover it all; even the basics.
Has anyone else have a mold odor when using the lid for the water Reservoir. I wash my pot,basket, reservoir twice daily. It doesn't matter, when I use the lid it has a mold odor. I have a sensitivity to mold. Just curious...
I don’t have any odors around the reservoir or basket. After each use I rinse the reservoir and basket, and wash the pot and lid. The carafe lid can hold water so I make sure to shake it out. If I don’t plan to use the machine for a few days, I empty out any remaining water from the machine by turning it sideways over the sink. Before the next use, I run a full reservoir of hot water through the machine (with filter) to clean it out.
@@BruceAlanR I use mine twice a day wash & let air dry . I use to set it up night before . That is when I notice it... I just take it apart after washing air dry...
Interesting! I only started setting it up every night for the past few weeks. I’m going to pay attention to it to see if an odor forms using it this way.
To perform a full cleaning: 1) remove the water filter if you use one; 2)Fill the water tank with 6 cups of white vinegar; 3) Put a coffee filter into the tray; 4) Put the decanter underneath; 5) Press the CLEAN button. Cleaning takes 35-45 minutes. Once completed; 6) Remove the used filter, rinse out the tray, water tank, and decanter and reassemble the machine; 7) Fill the water tank to the 10 Cups mark with clean water; 8) press the BREW NOW button; 9) Empty the decanter and put it back under the machine; and then 10) Repeat steps 7 and 8 again.
Missing parts for my identical maker (the carafe top). Looks like Mr. Coffee's got a little extra money making scheme with peeps paying for missing parts ;-) Also, the hands only thing is better (less distracting and I notice the trend like youtuber ChrisFix).
I'd never heard of ChrisFix, but I just checked out his awesome channel. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll need to step up my game. Ha! Sorry your Mr. Coffee was missing parts. Mr. Coffee must have some serious quality control issues.
My first one lasted 10 year brewing 10 cups daily. Very good value. I clean my second machine more regular. It brews the coffee the required 205 degrees for the best results. The thermal carafe is a great way to store the brew without burning it.
I’m sorry to hear that’s happening. I wonder if water found its way in or a button’s stuck. My first thought was to suggest hacking the clock settings similar to the way my 11 year old daughter hacks Down Time on her iPad... by changing the current time. That may fool the Brew Timer into making coffee.
@@BruceAlanR , I bought another coffee maker with only 2 buttons lol. I'm so done with these fancy machines. I've many through out the years only last a a year before I start having problems one after another. Thank you replying ☺ to me
I completely get it. My folks have a $20 coffee maker with a glass carafe and nice small footprint that has lasted a decade. Doesn’t make the best coffee, but when I visit and want coffee in the morning, I adjust. Even bad coffee is still coffee when I NEED coffee! 😃👍
A deber salido defectuosa. Todos los comentarios en Ingles hablan de tener muchas fallas con su maquina. Yo tengo el problema con la luz encendida que dice Clean/limpiar. Estoy tratando de averiguar la solucion.
I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have a solution, but are you referring to the beeps that occur at the end of the brewing process or the Fresh Brew alarm that sounds 2 hours after coffee is brewed?
@@BruceAlanR Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure what was my friend do. Last Sunday, She didn't wait for 2 hours, around 1 hours she turned it off. She said the beeping it's too noisy. I will ask her how it works this Sunday.

It's junk.... mine didn't last a year and the thermal pot doesn't keep the coffee hot for long, like a glass carafe does. Right now it's dying a slow death. The buttons stopped working and it constantly beeps and locks you out of even setting the time. P.U.....
Good to know and Thanks for the info. One thing that can’t be reviewed with a new product is longevity, which is why I appreciate your comment. Sometimes I miss a glass carafe although I like being able to put the stainless carafe on the countertop. I find my carafe can keep a pot of coffee hot for a few hours and warm for almost 24 hours.

You received a permanent filter with this machine? If so, that's great!
This is a great coffee maker. I bought it from Target 2 years ago, and I have been very happy with it. I am a picky coffee snob, by the way, so I am a tough judge of coffee and brewing systems.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Stay safe and healthy! 😃👍
I just got one of these, but the full silver front, out of someone's trash. Brand new. He was throwing away all kinds of good stuff, like this, a new blender, an electric scooter, a Shark brand floor waxer, about 50 other things.
Wow! That's great! You might want to buy a lottery ticket, sounds like your having some good luck. 😃
I have a problem where no matter how much water I put in the reservoir, it barely brews a single cup of coffee. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong 😭
Have you tried descaling/running a clean cycle? There may be a blockage due to hard water deposits.
My issue is that even tho the reservoir has 10 cups, the carafe can only hold 8. I found that out the hard way.
Thanks for sharing that. I’ve only experienced that when I forget to empty out the previous day’s coffee from the carafe and try to make 10 cups. Typically a fair amount of water is absorbed and held by the grinds.
But how do I set time.
4:06
Press the hour button repeatedly to select the hour and then the minute button to select the minutes.
I heard that fart lol Right after you said you hate alarms!
Ha! I occasionally use sound effects and we do have squeaky wood floors, but I’m going to have to go back and listen. I try not to fart on camera. 😄
For the other Australian’s who don’t use coffee filter machines this video fails to explain where the coffee in the white filter paper goes. I finally found it underneath the water filter which has a lift up top. I feel a bit silly but if you are going to do a 10 minute video you may as well cover it all; even the basics.
Fair point! Thanks for the feedback.
I’m going to pay attention to it to see if an odor forms using it this way.
como hacer para limpiarla
To perform a full cleaning:
1) remove the water filter if you use one;
2)Fill the water tank with 6 cups of white vinegar;
3) Put a coffee filter into the tray;
4) Put the decanter underneath;
5) Press the CLEAN button.
Cleaning takes 35-45 minutes. Once completed;
6) Remove the used filter, rinse out the tray, water tank, and decanter and reassemble the machine;
7) Fill the water tank to the 10 Cups mark with clean water;
8) press the BREW NOW button;
9) Empty the decanter and put it back under the machine; and then
10) Repeat steps 7 and 8 again.
Missing parts for my identical maker (the carafe top). Looks like Mr. Coffee's got a little extra money making scheme with peeps paying for missing parts ;-)
Also, the hands only thing is better (less distracting and I notice the trend like youtuber ChrisFix).
I'd never heard of ChrisFix, but I just checked out his awesome channel. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll need to step up my game. Ha! Sorry your Mr. Coffee was missing parts. Mr. Coffee must have some serious quality control issues.
use a kitchen scale to know how much coffee you have left. enjoy your coffee!
Good idea! Thanks!
💯💯
200? Wow! Glad it was helpful! 😃
My first one lasted 10 year brewing 10 cups daily. Very good value. I clean my second machine more regular. It brews the coffee the required 205 degrees for the best results. The thermal carafe is a great way to store the brew without burning it.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Ours is still going strong.
I can't turn off the brew timer. I tried everything. Now it won't make coffee 😒
@@BruceAlanR , my does, it's Kuerig coffee maker, with two buttons. One cup fresh each time. $30, by Toastmaster
Good to know! Thanks for the info!
La mía solo enciende el led pero no echa café no sale el agua
A deber salido defectuosa. Todos los comentarios en Ingles hablan de tener muchas fallas con su maquina. Yo tengo el problema con la luz encendida que dice Clean/limpiar. Estoy tratando de averiguar la solucion.
My friend just got this machine. But it’s not working. Alarm didn’t stopped
I've had 2 of these brewers for less than a year and both of them started to leak from the bottom very frustrated with this machine
That's terrible and not a good look for Mr. Coffee. I'm sorry to hear your machines have leaked. Frustrating to say the least! I appreciate that you've shared your experience.
I just threw mine away😢 it stopped dripping after the time area stopped workin
Too much money for little time😢
Ugh! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Be my friend!
Lol
You should take this a step further and actually show how to get the clean cycle started. As it is not as easy as just hitting the cleaning button.
Great suggestion and it would an easy video to make. I’ll do it next time I clean the machine, which should be soon. Thanks for the suggestion!
I have this coffee maker and it makes a great cup of coffee but I'm with you on customer service. It is non-existent.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I have had to of these coffee maker and both of them leak .
That’s horrible! Thanks for sharing your experience.
thats way tooo muchuuuu cafeee broooo
Ha! And I drink it black.
Are you Italian,I wasn't sure if I should listen to your voice or your hands!
Ha! My other half said the same thing... although most of the time she ignores both. 😃
This guy stole your content. he re-uploaded your video as his own. File a complaint with youtube for copyright violation. He did the same thing to me last week so I'm trying to let the other creators that he's ripping off know about what he's doing. Here is the link to your video that he re-uploaded as his own. ua-cam.com/video/MH5F0S3X2qg/v-deo.html
Thank you for this info. I will report it.
I am on my second unit probably averaging three pots every two days or more and it is the best coffee maker I have ever owned.
Nancy 🤣
Indeed. 😃👍
Need a tissue?
Mines 8 years old still works great! I take it everywhere! It's super sturdy I've dropped it out of loader trackhoes Bob cats off footing and work benches! I love it!
Ha! I would have needed a dust pan and broom after taking my 22 lbs sledgehammer had I not gotten the parts to make it operational. Thanks for the laugh! 😃👍
Thanks again for sharing your experience with it! I had no idea it was so tough!
WAY. TOO. MUCH. COFFEE. GROUNDS. 🤦♂️
Keeps me talking and thinking fast! 🤣
I disliked this video.
Fair enough. I always appreciate feedback.
Thank you!
