Recently I was eating at this diner and I would always ask them to have soup on the menu. I told the waitress, about 25, it would be nice to have some soup, heck, even a bowl of hot water soup. She just started laughing, you mean like on Green Acres. I was blown away she knew the reference but then said how her grand parents always watched the re-runs and she loved them.

I explain this to my wife all the time I love the show and have watched it since the first episode came on TV everyone else in Hooterville is normal including Lisa as soon as she move there she fit right in Mr. Douglas is the weird one he is the outsider that does not fit in with everyone else that’s normal such a great premise I also really enjoyed Paul Hennings other two shows petticoat Junction and Beverly hillbillies

+VIDEOHEREBOB Eva Gabor was genius - the whole show was genius - Mr Ziffel one of my faves - just a fabulously well written well casted show that you can't stop smiling through - still trying to find the episode with the chocolate chip pizza though...
This was the period where Eva was at her most glamorous. She was the idol of my youth. And she still is today; 24 years after she went off to TV Heaven. I have loads of pictures of her right here on my cellphone. But they're only from the Green Acres days; both on and off the set; and from when she was going out with Merv Griffin.
@@j9andphoenix Did you know Hank Patterson (Mr Ziffel) was deaf during the production of Green Acres? One of the crew laid on the ground and tapped his leg when it was his turn to speak. Ref: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Patterson#Green_Acres
There's an episode where Lisa puts a plate on the table in front of Oliver and on one side of the plate is a whole stick of butter on the other side of the plate are peanuts still in the shell. Oliver asks her what it is and Lisa states that it's "Peanuts Butters".....Eb walks in and says "Oh boy, homemade peanuts butters!" This show had immense charm and was absolutely brilliant! They just can't make them like this anymore. :(
Eb for the most part was the one that enjoyed her cooking...except early on in season 1. I love how her attempt to make spaghetti was to just put the try pasta on a plate. And Eb started eating it with his hands. So funny. And Oliver had to explain to her that you have cook it in boiled water....
This show was the funniest show ever on TV. The two other scenes I liked the most was when Mr Douglas taught Mrs Douglas how to drive and when Mr Douglas was taking his apples to market and Mr Haney's truck blew a head gasket. Mr Douglas then made a new head gasket out of Mrs Douglas's blooper pancakes.
In one episode, when a puppy was left at her doorstep, Lisa said to Eb, what should I feed it? and Eb said, give it what my mother fed us Lisa said, what was that? Eb said, dog food
This show was hilarious, a true comedy classic.Lisa can't even heat up a can of soup? Eb always says her food is like his mom's.The writer (s) of the show sure had imagination! They created such comical conversations and scenes never existing before or since that show.
Brilliant absurdity. I remember the episode Mrs. D saw a "shoosting" star. Oliver corrects her, in his crabby, condescending way, and then Mr. Drucker asks him if he saw the shoosting star last night. Great stuff!
And the one that Amy Collins had. Pot roast, new potatoes, homemade buscuits, and apple pie. Thank God he didn't eat Lisa's hotscakes hash. In the episode where Lisa went to New York by herself, Oliver went to the Pixley Diner to eat instead of eating the hotscakes that she told Eb to make.
When Oliver was recuperating from some injury or illness, almost everyone in Hooterville brought food to him, and all looked good. Unfortunately the movie he was watching on TV got all the guests watching, and eating the food meant for him.
I watched every ep of Green Acres when new. I wish you tube would show every episode in full. It is only a half hour sitcom. This show is still hilarious.
It's seems to me as if there was one episode where Lisa made bread sandwiches for lunch as well. When asked what are these by Mr. Douglas, Lisa replied, "Bread Sandwiches, two slices of bread with one slice of bread in the middle" but then again it could just be wishful thinking on my part.
For some reason this show never gets old. I think the writers were smoking a huge amount of weed at the time. Every performer really managed to shine. How Eva Gabor managed to keep a straight face is totally beyond me. It’s almost as though she considered it to be straight acting.
At the beginning at 0:02 - In the upper left of the picture, the stage curtain has slipped a bit showing some of the indoor sound stage. The house is a building within a building.
I've always wondered how they stayed looking so healthy if all Lisa could "cook" were those inedible hotcakes, hot water soup and some of the other concoctions she came up with? Did they "shneek" over to the Pixley Diner between episodes? :-)
Wasn't there an episode of Mrs Douglas where she made some bread sandwiches and Oliver ask "what are these" Lisa replies "These are bread sandwiches, a bread on top and another on the bottom with one in the middle" and Oliver says "could use a cold cut of meat and a slice of cheese"
Eva didn't know how to cook in real life either. She once made a hamburger for her husband at the time, Richard Brown. She put an egg in it, and it turned out terrible. I hope he didn't eat it. He would have got food poisoning right there.
I wish that UA-cam and MGM could work out a deal where we can see full episodes of the show. Every time somebody uploads full episodes, they get blocked for copyright reasons.

I love how even though Lisa never wanted to move to the countryside, she is the one who fits in with the locals.

The way Lisa says "Oliver" is sooooo cute 😘😍💜😚 R.I.P. Lisa
Lisa is damn stupid!

Eb for the most part was the one that enjoyed her cooking...except early on in season 1.
I love how her attempt to make spaghetti was to just put the try pasta on a plate. And Eb started eating it with his hands. So funny. And Oliver had to explain to her that you have cook it in boiled water....
LOL! How many times did Eb come in and love whatever Lisa cooked? Classic Green acres.

Lisa always made "hotscakes."
Hotscakes, Mike ! I loved the episode about the curse of that woman It had humor , a little spooky and a lot of Lisa sweetness.

Love HANK KIMBALL...What a Talent
Well, no... not a talent...but a good way to do things...well, not good way but the right way...well not....Here's to Hank!
.
Yea for sure.... The funnest show ever on television.
Was pretty funny when Oliver had to retake his Bar exam & Mr Haney tried to sell him an actual bar & cocktail waitress
This is my style of humor perfectly!
Pretty much the best 1960s sitcom ever! Bewitched is a close second.
"Oh boy.. Hot water soup!" ..... lol
That's the one that got me laughing the most!
Every character on the show was brilliant - so well cast!
I don't think Oliver had a single decent meal during the entire series
Lewis 970 there was that one that Ralph cooked...
They must have had " real " food when the city kids came up...otherwise...poor guy.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 right

I always remembered this scene over the years. LOL
Excellent show !

at least, lisa can boil water. lol
The zaniest American comedy show in history.
I watched every ep of Green Acres when new. I wish you tube would show every episode in full. It is only a half hour sitcom. This show is still hilarious.
I still watch Green Acres today. Love the show alot. 😊
I love the way she says "Soup made from houte wotaah"
"who the?"...... that's a switch...he normally says "what the?"….......I frigging love this show.
I gotta give Lisa credit: she truly is a fool.
There was one episode where she made her notorious hotcakes, and Oliver ended up using the dough as a manifold cover for his tractor engine.
RIP Tom Lester.
For some reason this show never gets old. I think the writers were smoking a huge amount of weed at the time. Every performer really managed to shine. How Eva Gabor managed to keep a straight face is totally beyond me. It’s almost as though she considered it to be straight acting.
Sorta reminds me of a former girlfriend whose idea of a gourmet meal was preparing real Kraft Macaroni and cheese rather than the economy store brand.
+Paul Miller I meant to say "Cheese".
+Paul Miller At least she was smart enough to jump out of the pot before the water reached 212 F.
Thank you, Lisa Douglas. I've been making hot water soup all wrong.
Eb eatin'/drinkin' all the hot water soup he can handle in Heaven now...
Oh, boy! Hot water soup!!
Eb was absolutely awesome and totally terrific.
At the beginning at 0:02 - In the upper left of the picture, the stage curtain has slipped a bit showing some of the indoor sound stage. The house is a building within a building.
Great catch, I didn't notice that!
One of the greatest shows ever to watch stoned. lol
I remember I got stoned one morning, turned on the tv and it was Green Acres marathon. Watched it all day ...haven't been the same since
Hot water soup, Ebb knew what it was immediately.
Oh, boy!!! Hot water soup!!!!
