    Did you try lighting it with the rod before you drenched it in water? The package says it light wet wood and even floats and burns on water and no floating on water is not the same as trying to light it when its wet, it means that only the bottom layer has come in to contact with water while creating a dry layer on top, same as gasoline burning on water.

    It also says if the wood is large or wet to use the entire pack

      Even says he watched the Shark Tank episode but not once did I see them wet the product. So what claim is he trying to prove? The one he pulled out of his ass?

      Bahahaha it's not strange,you're strange. You compromise the product by pouring water on it 😆

    Several years ago this was called "fired up" firestarter. Then they re-branded and re-formulated the product after being on Shark Tank. It worked fairly well, I have a video on my channel somewhere. It will not light with a ferro rod though. I agree though, Vaseline and cotton balls you cannot go wrong.. :D

      There was a review on another channel where a guy lit it up with a ferro rod in literally 2 strikes..

    if you put magnesium shavings on top and use ferro rod, it will catch quickly

    Roll it up and put a gum band around it. You are supposed to stir when the fire starts to fade to re-oxenenate the fire

    Very realistic test. Appreciate the way this was presented. It saves me going out and trying it and maybe getting arrested for arson. lol

    This stuff is great actually. I have yet so see anyone use it with a proper fire build (this takes the place of your tinder and small kindling), like a log cabin or teepee type, and I've never had a problem getting it started with my ferrocerium rod

    Don’t soak it... Use more if super wet... military grade because has been used by Canadian SF units and US Seals... Opening package doesn’t destroy product shelf life... Will not ignite to normal sparks, was designed to require 500+ degree temps so will ignite if using magnesium or some rods with shavings... product works well in windy conditions, wind screen to start is very helpful. I’ve had good success in constant 65 km/h direct gusts when using rocks for protection... product is basically volcanic rock and wood pellets that have both been treated. Keeping ratio is important when portioning out a package for multiple uses. If used correctly, it can be extremely effective. Perhaps better directions are necessary considering how different the product is from the typical “fire starters”.

    thanks for the review, demo video...I will be avoiding this product and not recommending it to my firebug friends.

    Go to yard sales. Pick up crappy little candles for $0.10 each. Wrap a napkin in the candle put at the bottom of the fire light it up it'll burn until everything is burning and if it starts to go out put another candle on it. Works great.

    I think I'll stick to my home made fire starting pucks lol. They burned for about 15 mins, and would take a spark off of about anything lol. Thanks for the video. I know not to wast my money on that product!

  • @benpasquino5736
    @benpasquino5736 5 років тому +1

    Thanks for the video. What happens if it's really windy? Fire goes everywhere? What if you build the fire wood up and pore it on top, does the granules spread and go into every crack and crevice? would take a large amount to make a pile. I'm a bit skeptical. Think it could get messy.

    So... he got it wet. I see a lot of people complaining about that like they have never had to start a fire in the pouring down rain before. To me it seems like a logical thing to test. That and he didn't soak the entire pile from what I saw. And none of it would really catch and burn. I was going to pick a pack of this up which is how I found this video. Think i'll stick to the traditional starters like fat wood and waxed cotton.

    The instructions don't say to poor water on it. I suspect the ferro rod would start it without water. Duh. You ring the entire experiment

    the package should come with a ziplock style sealing thingy. even dog or cat snack packages have that feature!
    never mind, it doesn't perform well enough anyway so who cares about the package.

    If its windy out, wouldnt that stuff blow all over the place? On top of that it takes forever to light. Ill pass.

    Interesting but there are far more cheaper and reliable ways of starting a fire. Good review.

  • @MrStu1960
    @MrStu1960 5 років тому

    I bought a pouch of this to test. First off if your in a shitty way and need fire now $1.00 is CHEAP!! Second why would you opt for a fire rod to start a fire unless your a caveman or a boy scout trying to earn a merit badge? My go to is a Butane torch lighter like the crack heads use, then wind & water proof matches, & lastly the fire rod. I used this suff like I would normally build a fire. Tinder bundle, small sticks, then fuel size wood. Everything was covered in snow, I split the package open like a takeout Chinese food container then lit the entire pouch with my lighter without any problems. I added the tinder followed by everything else and had a knee high fire in less than 10 mins. This stuff is cheap and light! I always have it in my Hunting coat & pack. You can even make a small pouch for your belt and carry it in.

    To me anyway, looks like an epic FAIL! If I can't trust it for a life saving fire then no good. Like you said PJCB's, tinder quicks, wet fire or my favorite FATWOOD does the trick. 👍

      @jeffsellers5468 5 років тому +1

      it's designed to light "wet wood". he poured water on it. fatwood, and most substances will not light after being wet until dried out. not a fair review actually.

    You did everything that someone wouldn't do. Why would you pour water on it? You don't know or can't figure out what a 1/8 of a cup is? You shouldn't be camping.
