Introduced in 1958, this was the first regulator in the world with a single hose and the demand valve situated at the mouth, and set a new world standard for diving regulators.
Thanks to its well-tested construction and design, the Cyklon is still the first choice of the German Navy and many others.
    • Use either way up
    • Robust, durable
    • Approved for cold water diving
    • Reliable high performance

Started using the Cyklon 300 regulator in 1978 and dove it through the 80’s. I was out of diving for a while and went right back to Poseidon and dive the Cyklon 5000 and XStream regulators now.

I had 3 but with the original metal second stage. One was a mod 3000, which was unbalanced 2nd stage. It would develop higher intermediate pressure as the tank pressure lowered and per the design of an unbalanced diaphragm 1st stage. I used them for everything including caving. They worked great for high flow as the diaphragm was not activated by the water flow unless you turned your head with the diaphragm facing the water flow.
The intermediate pressure was 180 psig. There is a turn table inside the 2nd stage that you could rotated to help the outflow pull a vacuum on the diaphragm to assist breathing. If turned too high, they will actually come out of the water and free flow so much, it will hover over the water. The 1st stage has a freeze cap we used to fill with vodka for a ceremonial shot after your first ice dive.
These regulators were actually designed in the 50's and still can't be beat. They can go to near 1000 ft depth and still deliver gas to you. No other regular can work near as well and be as dependable.
I kept parts and rebuilt my own. I never experienced any breakdown in operation.

I bought mine Cyklon Metal many years ago. At my very beginning of diving I made my Cmas* (= Padi AOWD) in the beginning of march in German North Sea because I wanted my dive card for the booked Holiday Trip. So we made the open water dives at 4°C water; -3°C air temperature and it came as I never had expected it. Just at my first in open water my scubapro regulator freezed in. So we had to come from 16m deep by alternate breathing my instructors poseidon cyklon 5000 metal. As we were at the surfrace again the next old fashioned poseidon cyklon metal was sold. 🙂Forget all the comfort stuff. A regulator which has shown that it is really bullet proof under worst conditions is more important than all the modern shit.
When I'm diving this old fahioned workhorse today the other divers are staring at me. Why?

Like the small size and ambidextrous design.
But I exhale a lot of water. And it has inter stage pressure that means one has to use another CYKLON 5000 as second.
It has a very mechanical breathe. Not horrible but not as nice as the Poseidon Jetstream.

It is NOT servo operated, it is a downstream second stage designed to work at higher IP.

Would you recommend this for a new diver? I have a feeling ill be eventually doing all kinds of diving so want to buy one regulator that will handle any future diving i might throw at it. As a former U.S. Marine and kind somewhat a history buff, I really like the old style look to it. But say this vs a top tear scuba pro. Could you still recommend this?

The very best regulator there is. Full stop... I had 3 of these two on my twinset cylinders and pony cylinder. I would not use anything else.

Yes. They make breathing and buddy breathing so easy. all you have to do is rotate the 2nd stage toward the diver if facing. A backup can be handed off to another diver from either side. You will have to have a Poseidon as the extra second stage because of the hgher intermediate pressure. Any other brand of a second stage will free flow and other 1st stages probably not develop enough pressure for proper operation.
Take care of it, and it will last a lifetime. I bought mine 45 years ago and still look like new.

Hi all, I’ve got a first and 2nd stage of these bad boys from my dad which is about 40yrs old so it doesn’t have an occy. I sourced a jet stream occy yrs ago which is now blowing through (never ended up diving with this reg btw) but my local dive shop doesn’t want to touch it - too hard, easier to sell me a new set. Is the jet stream occy actually compatible or do I need another cyklon to match?

    • @kencool69
      @kencool69 2 роки тому

The intermediate pressure is different, so you need a Cyklon occy for a Cyklon 1st stage.

Can you get this in a yoke/int fitting

    • @patricklindahl868

You put a yoke converter on it, no problem. I have such a regulator (bought in 1997) and have dove with it, with a yoke fitting
