This game sounds SOOOOO good!! I really hope Nintendo does something like this.
I've been thinking about this a lot and I think you should take a few cues from breath of the wild where any surface is climbable. I mean I could also see it taking a cue from tears where you could cobble together different weapons but weapons don't seem to be a part of this pitch so wouldn't really fit in. Great pitch tho
Climbing anywhere would definitely be a smart inclusion for something like this for sure. I can see that playing into the loop of establishing different parts of the world and there could even be some combat stuff giving how you'd assume they'd want to go even further with Kong'ss climbing since they SHOULD be better at it by nature.
We did have an idea for weapons/gadgets via Diddy Kong (that's the multiplayer bit we didn't elaborate on) due to lack of visual assets.
Great video, DK is deserving of a new game with modernized graphics and open world gameplay, especially since the series was one of the originals to kick off that concept way back with the 64! Lol that would bring everything full circle, DK was also represented very well within the movie so a which could help more people get into the series as a whole. Anyways, great stuff guys.
I want DK64 with the ability to change kongs at any time, and better in every way.

Nintendo has a big challenge ahead if it wants to create something nearly as special as this. The majority of fans only recognize DK as a Mario side character and base his identity on the spin-offs.
Thank you so much! We figured a game that celebrates every facet on the character and the major games in the DK history would be the best way to rejuvenate the franchise after not getting a new game for so long :D
As a new dad with a sleep deprived brain who will greatly miss the weekly podcast, is the implication here that this game is a prequel to Odyssey? I also think it'd be great if the platforming involved a destructive environment type of situation, using DK's strength to alter the terrain for optional alternate paths to find hidden bonuses. I never played DK 64 and would love this game. Well done fleshing out your video from years ago.

& correct! We wanted to go more into those plot details but finding a way to explain our concept without visual aid would have been difficult to say the least haha
Even if it's tedious at times, you need to somehow get your hands on DK64. The music and the boss fights (especially Mad Jack) stand by themselves. (You could also just get a rom and patch it with Quality of Life features from the DK64 Randomizer to make the experience even better.)
