  • In this video I show how to terminate shielded (SFTP) CAT6A Ethernet cable into a Panduit Mini-Com TX6 10Gig Shielded CAT6A jack module (Part Number CJS6X88TGY) using the EGJT Giga-tx jack tool.

Great video, you did a fantastic job describing every step. I have been installing Panduit jacks for over 20 years but enjoyed seeing your presentation.

Hi, do you know what diameter drill bit you need for a CAT6A? 8mm works for Cat6, would I need a 9mm or even a 10mm for Cat6A?

You mentioned that the pins should be facing up on the Rj-45 connector when installing. That information is not true.. if you notice on the front face of the Rj-45 you will see numbers 1-8 at the bottom of the pins. this should be read left to right and not upside down.. This has nothing to do with dust on the pins.. The other thing you mentioned that you can swap and use the A side at both ends or use the b- side terminations at both side.. I know you were meaning to keep a straight through cable configuration. But this is very important information for a rookie and you should also mention that this represent a 568-A or a 568-B system.. meaning that pins 2&3 are swapped orange and green..

if you put rj45 connectors into walls with the clip facing up, you are a communist. also, holy shit nerd alert.

Yeah, he shouldn't just say the orange and green pairs are not important to which is which. As long as you terminate it the same at each end, then it will work, but 568A and 568B are created for a reason. Most patch cables are 568B and I always terminate jacks in 568B at home. It i just easier knowing that everything is 568B when it comes to troubleshooting an issue.

How much they are not punched in when they are seated at the barbs? I'd think the connection to the pins would be there.

They punch in perfectly when seated using the tool. The barbs just hold the individual wires in the correct alignment so the IDC terminals will line up and make a good connection when the two halves are put together.

Why fast fw through the removal of the shielding around the pair, that's why I came to this video. Or maybe just show the removal of one then fast-forward the rest. Thanks

You just nick the edge of the shield and then pull it off, the foil tears really easily once it has a little cut in it.

Why did you cut off the foil ?🙄
