    Of all the constantly changing upgrades for these RC helicopters throughout the years, Dane w/ RTF-Heli.com has deployed the single most important and high quality upgrade with the introduction of a Walkera RX 2703H-D and Walkera Servo for the Rudder. This is the best upgrade of them all. I can't believe how great it is, either. And, cost less to make this upgrade than any other upgrades I've deployed in 3 years. Dane discovery has me installing (converting) Walkera electronics on all my helicopters, 8 so far. Best on a 450/480 class heli, I just test flew a 500E, also! The above mentioned Walkera electronics simply blows beast X away and, so much more fun to fly, so very stable, extra easy to set-up and just fits the helicopter so very well!! makes me appear to be an expert pilot when in reality, I am not.
    Thank you Dane! NO MORE CRASHES !!!!! The only issue I can think of is: Dane, I need more Walkera parts!!!

    Steve G. Hope you are really happy with your fleet of 450-480 sized helicopters. The 6-axis RX is better than the Microbeast and cost a lot less. Moreover, you can bind to your Walkera DEVO 10 TX.

    Michael Nieto, the Walkera RX works better than the Align 3GX as its a 6-axis as opposed to the 3GX which is older 3-axis. Much more stable. You can change from regular flight mode to two stunt modes which are user programmable via the Transmitter. The DEVO 7 TX has this three position switch.

      Thank you for prompt reply ,I have a genius CP w/ DEVO 7(among other helis) and I have a Hausler 450 clone belt drive and was about to upgrade to Tarot FBL xyz system until I saw your video. So now I'M EXCITED to go FBL with Tarot FBL head components. Seems worth it, gonna try the stock servo's. Can't wait. Do you have deviation software in your Devo7?

    Cheers for response, will keep to hand when building. Have read up on stock servo's from Align, they reckon the units are not robust enough and can't handle impacts too well, so I've gone with KST DS315MG Metal Digital Mirco Servo,s. Will keep your posted during build.

    Appreciate the comment and yeah I originally had the setting reccomended on the website but tried many variations and no luck.as I happens my rx/gyro is apparently faulty so I have a replacement on the way but would still be greatful of a video tutorial :)

    Receiver unit is mounted flat on the flat plate located above the tail boom, with connections clsoest to centre.

    Michael, you can get the software updates from the Walkera Website in China. Set to English and look for DEVO 7 Software update. You will need the USB hardware link if you don't already have one.

    Thanks for getting back. the swash plate is level on ground and the ail and ele servo's operate in the correct direction, i,e increase throttle, swash plate moves up flat. I have also checked slack in the head, which there was, so the blades were removed and head tightened.
    The other question i have :- when the heli is on and linked to handset, i can twsit the heli and tail servo operates as it should to counter movement. when i tilt the heli forward, backward or to the side, the ail and ele servo's dont move at all - are they not meant to move in opposite direction to componsate? i,e i tilt heli forward, this should result in swash plate being tilted back?? Am i right in thinking my ele and ail servo's are frozen from gyro. I have a 120S, which has the swash plate move when i tilt the heli, but my 450 does not copy this?? is there anything in devo 7 handset which can freeze the gyro from the ele / ail servos?
    many thanks
    jonathan.

    I have converted a Heli Max Axe CP with the Walkera 2603 receiver using my Devo 7 and it works great. I'm now in the process of building a clone of the Trex 500 fbl TT. Gonna try a Walkera 2703 receiver. People tell me I'm nutz and should get a Futaba radio. My Devo 7 is awesome. I even use it on my 50" balsa planes with Walkera 2701 receiver with no trouble. I love my Devo7 and walkera receivers. can you give any tips on settings for the 2703 on a 500 size Heli ?

      Using the Walkera DEVO 7 Transmitter in this video, your GYRO Sensor Settings should be as follows:
      Mode = Manual
      Switch = MIX SW
      POS 0 = 75%
      POS 1 = 70%
      POS 2 = 50%

    Does this RX allow the same 3D flying as if were a 3GX? If so can you change modes say like a WL V977?

    Hi, I built my heli, but when i go to take off, the unit wants to flip to the right. I thought it was my swash plate set up, however checked that and servo direction and beleive them to be fine. the heli is certainly not taking off as smoothly as yours.
    any ideas appreciated.

      Thanks for asking. Is the swashplate level with the ground when at zero throttle? Are the cyclic servo arms all horizontal with the swashplate at Zero throttle. Are the cyclic servos moving the swashplate in the correct direction when you move the cyclic stick ?

    RTF HELI COM wondering what servo's you use'd for elev/aile/pit? I have a Devo 8s transmitter and i just brought the rx2703h-d receiver. Could you tell me your setting on your transmitter please. I am new to this hobby and don't know how to program my 8s. Really could use your help.

    • @7RTFHELI

      +Scott Miller Thanks for asking. We are using the stock servos that came with the helicopter. These are Align metal gear servos. The Align Tail Rudder Servo was replaced with the Walkera Rudder servo as the Walkera DEVO RX could not handle the bandwidth of the Align Rudder servo which caused the rudder servo to flip back and forth in rapid sequence. With regards to the settings on the TX, we used the same settings that is used on the Walkera V450D03. You can download the user's manual in PDF format at our website. You tube won't give us enough space to type in settings.

      +Scott Miller N worries. That's why we are here. It's unfortunate everyone has gone to flying multi copter drones. Now the stupid government wants to regulate thru licensinng and fees. No thanks, i'LL stick with my R/C helicopters.

    just noted another issue - when i tilt my heli forward or to the side the servo's do not move to componsate - which is not right. within the devo 7 set up everything is as per, but for this compensatory movement? - what would cause the servos to lock like this?
    as before - any assist would be appreciated.

      Do you have the RX mounted properly ? The RX must be mounted flat horizontal to the airframe.

    I've installed RX-2703H-D on my Assault 450l dfc with emax servos and had to reverse aileron and rudder in the tx settings after correcting them when I checked the the Gyro it was working in wrong direction and then I ended up installing it up side down under the frame and it worked fine,
    I was wondering how it worked in this helli mounting it the right way ?

    Could I use this gyro on my align 550????????? I have a few of these gyros from my walkera 450d03's. Just not sure if it would work on my 550 tho with the bigger servos
    Any help would be great

    • @7RTFHELI
      @7RTFHELI  9 років тому

      Yes, as long as the servos are not High Voltage (HV). I don't think the RX can handle them properly.

    Hi, I in the process of getting a kit together to emulate what you have shown. My concerns are not really the construction process but more the bind process of the Devo 7 to the helicopter gyro/receiver - when you completed this, did you encounter any issues and can you do a video of the sequence followed, as there seems to be alot of people out there with the same issue. On a final query, you mentioned that one servo should have plastic gears etc - can you advise which one that is. I have got the walkera tail servo and also ordered 3 metal geared servo's similar to the DS95, but not. really good to see i can use my walkera handset for other Heli's - currently learning on a Walkera DS120S - fun, but quick. many thanks for any tips you may have for when i get going with the 450.

    • @7RTFHELI
      @7RTFHELI  10 років тому

      It was a straight forward process - No binding problems. With Walkera electronics, you have to turn on the helicopter First and then turn on the DEVO 7 Transmitter with the throttle stick all the way down and make sure the switch is in Normal Flight Mode in order to bind. No binding plug necessary. We used the cyclic stock servos. The stock rudder servo bandwidth was to short causing the rudder to flutter back and forth. So, we used the Walkera rudder servo. The DEVO 7 Setting we used are as follows:
      SERVO SETTINGS:
      ELEV = NORM
      AILE = NORM
      THRO = NORM
      RUDD = NORM
      GEAR = NORM
      PITCH = NORM
      GYRO = NORM
      GYRO Sensor Settings:
      Mode = Manual
      Switch = MIX SW
      POS 0 = 75%
      POS 1 = 70%
      POS 2 = 50%
      THROTTLE CURVE:
      MODE: NORM
      EXP = ON
      POINT L = 0%
      INHIBIT ALL POINTS IN BETWEEN FOR A LINEAR CURVE
      POINT H = 100%
      PITCH CURVE:
      MODE: NORM
      EXP = ON
      POINT L= 0%
      INHIBIT ALL POINTS IN BETWEEN FOR A LINEAR CURVE
      POINT H = +45%

    Hi i also have a Walkera G400 gps helicopter and i have crashed it,can i upgrade with walkera parts to this align trex 450 dfc kit but my Helicopter has a brushed motor

    • @7RTFHELI
      @7RTFHELI  10 років тому

      You cannot use the carbon brushed from your Walkera G400 as the motor pinion is helical on the Align Trex 450 DFC Pro V2. You will need a new brushless motor with an appropriate ESC. You can upgrade your Walkera G400 to a main brushless motor system. We just finished testing, and the Walkera V400D02 Main brushless kit will work directly onto the Walkera G400. Goto our website for more information.

      RTF HELI COM Thank you but if i upgrade my main motor to brushless.what about the tail motor for Align Trex 450 ,it has a shaft type ?.

    • @7RTFHELI
      @7RTFHELI  10 років тому

      lokesh p On the Align you will need a new RX such as the RX-2703H-D to work on the Align Trex 450 PRO V2 DFC because the RX on the Walkera G400 does not support the Rudder with a Tail motor. In other words, you cannot use the G400 RX and you need to get a brushless motor setup for the Align Trex 450 DFC Pro V2.

      RTF HELI COM Thanks you for the fast reply,better i would buy the same walkera parts and get it done.i have a brushless setup but when i hit the throttle to 100% the motor gets off,it works till 80% is there anything i have to do and by the way please let me know how to fly in low heights like in you video.

      +Scott Miller We are in the process of upgrading the website and will be selling the SAB Goblin series of professional R/C helicopters. Align and Walkera have squeezed margins that it is unfortunately not worth it for us to sell in the U.S. New website within the next two weeks.
