Alexis had the most interesting and unexpected character arc, for me: like some commenters have said, she starts off as a typical, vapid socialite (or so we think), but she channels her confidence and passion into improving herself instead of impressing sheiks and yacht-hopping with celebs. LOVE that journey for her :)
Alexis could have easily been incredibly annoying but Annie Murphy plays her with such heart, you can't dislike her. Such a brilliant and original character.
This is so true. When I saw her character the first time, i immediately wrote her off as the ditzy sister I probably wouldn't like but that was so far from the truth.
My favorite thing about Alexis is although she is absolutely confident and has no problem what so ever showing it, she never tears any one down to shine. She's truly a great friend.
I really wish you mentioned the Escape Room as it’s the pinnacle of Alexis’s ‘stories’ where she’s spitting them out one after another to which she solves the game!
Also, intervening when Moira live-streams David’s oopsie-daisy... actually ... ALL of her activities as her mother’s publicist! ...culminating with her impression of her before ultimately leaving that radio ad gig for the airline. 😂😂😂😂
1.When she puts aside all her feelings for Ted and makes sure David gets the exclusive dealership on the cheese supplied by Ted's girlfriend. Such a thoughtful sister. ❤ 2.when she gives David the pep talk just before his driver's license test. 3. When she takes the effort to teach David how to cycle. 4. When she's the only one to accept that she was almost glad the family lost all the money. (We all know they were all secretly thinking that). 5. When she confronted those girls in her class who kept passing chits. She thought they were bullies and still had the courage to do that!! 6. When she turns down kissing mutt because she's so honest about her feelings for Ted, yet asks nothing off him. 7. When she realises there are other more qualified people for the job she so easily got, and decides to leave to make space for them(literally no body does that). 8. She wanted the lead role in the play very genuinely, but when stevie got it she was not only happy but more than supportive of her. Gave her tips, talked to Moira, and never once tried to influence anyone to give her the role. 9. When she talked some sense into David and asked him not to mess up with Patrick because he was a "cute little button face".(BOY DO WE AGREE) 10. When she comes clean about the relationship quiz on the trail trip because she realises that she got David into trouble when he has a serious fear of heights and apologizes immediately. 11. When she looks for two bedroom apartments for her and David in New York, because that's how much she loves her brother.
12. When she realized Stevie was the person David truly wanted to be his Maid Of Honor and decides to help her because she senses how much Stevie felt overwhelmed to do a good job.
Oh god this is the longest comment i have ever enjoyingly reading in youtube and makes me want to watch the show again, which i just finished last month. I love her so much and this list is just what makes me love her, not a lil bit but a huge more.
@@sadie513 in the episode where Johny, Stevie, Roland go to new York. The family wonders what will they do "if the deal cones Through" They want to go to new York and Alexis starts looking for a flat with two bed rooms to share with David.
Honorable mention to the time she runs into her terrible friends from her past life, and turns down the “job” offered by Clair when she gets her own business card delivery. I love the scene when she’s talking to Clair and realizes how far she has actually come on her own, and walks out.
My favorite scene is when she is in the car with David and he is scolding her about how much he has always worried about her and she smiles - feeling his love ❤️
Alexis started out as my least favorite character (just b/c they were all so good) but quickly became not only my absolute favorite of the show but one of my favorite tv characters of all time. So kudos to Dan Levy for the awesome writing of her character, and to the talented Annie Murphy for her phenomenal portrayal! I hope there’s more about her!
So much this. I *HATED*. her at first... she was so awful (not from an acting standpoint, but like, her character as a person was so dislikable).... but then she started showing so much growth
It really was. It reminded me of Charlize Theron at the Oscars circa 2004 in that she just looked impossibly beautiful/transcendent. And the way she handled the scene... I cried over and over again. It was as if Alexis matured right before our eyes.
Dan Levy’s masterful writing and Annie Murphy’s amazing acting skills made Alexis. And to think she wasn’t even the first choice to play Alexis. I can’t imagine anyone else in the role.
Best Alexis Moment for me, I tear up every time. “‘This might sound insane, but I have this nagging feeling that I’m going to get there and start thinking about my family.’ ‘Not insane, that’s called missing someone.’ ‘Maybe I’m not explaining myself very well. Like I will physically be there…. But I will be thinking about them here.’ ‘What if something happens David, I’m basically his only friend. Or my dad, David and my mom sometimes gang up on him and I’m basically his only friend.’” 💔💔💔
Shes also my favorite character in the show. Shes grown so much that you want to see her before and after Schitts Creek. I love her and Im glad she also bagged an Emmy.
The first time I fell in love with the show and Alexis was when Johny had finished bolting their door to prevent the Rose siblings from entering their room and Alexis just broke open that door. It was so unexpected and hillarious especially the delivery of Murphy was just perfect.
I think it's part of her arc. She started as someone who had men around her and was always in a relationship. I love the way that she ended up being single.
I have watched this entire series TWICE! And while I LOVE all of the characters, something about Alexis' growth really captured my heart. When she and Ted parted ways at the diner, it was heart wrenching for me....
Loved how she went through her mother’s scary wardrobe for her “lawyer” role. That broach is fabulous. Nothing says “terrifying” better than a huge diamond encrusted insect.
Alexis is one of the best characters ever written and Annie Murphy took that gem of a character into the stratosphere of excellence. I’m so happy she won an Emmy for it. Any time I need a pick me up, I watch her on Schitt’s Creek.
"What's an all-paid vacation?" LOL . I was surprised you didn't mention when Alexis figures out how the shoplifters operated in David's store or when she figures out the escape room riddle. Those geniuous moments were neat.
Yeah and here David is so oblivious to what's happening because he so flattered by this kid's compliments Alexis calls him out on what's happening hahaha 😆
From the very first episode, Alexis might be shown as spoilt but she was never a brat, she might be annoying to the town people but she was never mean. She is understanding and kind as we get to see this side of her as the show progressed. I will never complain about life if I have a friend like Alexis. 😃😍
Her stories are legendary. The Johannesburg checkpoint one is still my fav that she mentions to her dad and Roland when they have the truck full of raw milk and get busted by the cops LOL
Alexis came to be my favorite character midway on the series cause Annie Murphy played her so brilliantly but major props to Dan Levy for creating and developing such a seemingly self-absorbed but ultimately kind and wonderful character, wrting the smart and funny lines and situations and her unbelievable adventures pre-Schitt’s Creek life.
Best scene with Alexis - When she provided emotional support to the woman whose cat died. She said that now this woman could have her gentleman friend over. It was so caring.
Thanks for This walk down memory lane. I shed a few tears. Schitts Creek has to have been one of the best shows to come around in years. It was so funny without being vulgar and I loved the family dynamics. They were on each others side's. It always left me with a warm feeling. Annie Murphy was the perfect actress for Alexis. How could one not just love her or for that matter all of the characters.
oh Taryn so true! I truly fell I love with her as an actress when I watched her talking about the character and realized how much she had really put into that roll. My respects and admiration!
She would be unique in that she could approach the vapid rat race, big city life style like she has a secret, because she's seeing it all so differently now. That would be charming.
Despite having been neglected and not nurtured, she becomes adult, and is full of kindness. She lacks any bitterness and sees the good in everyone. I would have thought this character development at least, unlikely, but I know someone who’s character and background are very similar, and who brings the sun out in everyone else, just like Alexis! 🌟💜
In the first season my wife hated her character but as the series progressed she loved her. I think that is the true beauty of the progression off the series.
I kept going in the series thinking, she will, sooner or later, make a wrong decision. But it didn't happen. I see Alexis character development and think this is what happens When you make right decisions at the right time with the characters in the show.
Hands down my favorite Alexis moment is when her dad's jacket is missing a button and she says "ew, oh you pour thing"! Ew to a lost button and exclaiming "pour thing" to a missing button just slays me.
She is the most promising character. I watched the show because of her, her fashion, her humor and her stories from the past - those are hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How about when David is getting his driver's license and Alexis corrects him how she lives her life. "I don't skate through life, David, I walk through life. In really nice shoes." This show of self-awareness and confidence made me watch her differently.
These were all great! Annie stands out even in a show with such talented actors. One of my favorite scenes is when she helps David and Patrick kick out the young thieves from RA. The way she hair flips them both at the end of the scene is EVERYTHING!
She had the best character development for sure and was so fun to watch. Also, her stories were hilarious and I actually love her ending in some odd way. It was very different than what I would’ve expected from her and shows just how much she’s truly grown. Her giving David away at his wedding also makes so much sense because I feel like us viewers can tell they definitely raised each other and had to be there for each other while their parents were away or busy.
What is so amazing about Alexis is her character development is not only forward (eg finish school, pursuing a character in “pubic relations”), it also moves outwards. When you pill off the shallow socialite exterior, there’s a kind, sweet and smart person. Of course Annie executed Alexis with perfection.
Annie Murphy portrayed "Alexis: brilliantly. Loved her facial expressions from disappointed to happy daughter when she saw her mother at her high school graduation. Or when Ted admitted his love for her on Single Week. Wished she and Ted ended up "happily ever after..."
Lol I'm forcing my middle aged Manly Macho Dad to watch Schitts Creek during Dialysis! I think I'm wearing him down!! We're on season 2! I just ordered us matching "EWW DAVID!" Shirts!!!
I'm sure watching schitt's Creek will help your father through his dialysis. I wish him well and will pray for him. And I just think of the memories the two of you will have by watching the show together.
My favorite Alexis moment is when her dad rewrote her paper and she was accused of plagiarizing her paper by her teacher, so she went home to chew her dad out. LMAO!!!
Alexus was my favorite character(all of them are my favorite lets just be real.lol)...watching her transition from season to season was astounding and Annie Murphy was fantastic along with the rest of the cast. Alexus and Ted's dinner at the diner broke my heart but was perfect for both characters.
I love Alexis so much I have one her best quotes tattooed on me: Love that journey for me! Even when I’m 70, Alexis Rose and Schitt’s Creek will always have a place in my heart. ❤️ 🌹
Oh my gosh Schitt's Creek is my alllllllllll time favourite show. Alexis is soooooo ditzeee to the point that she had me holding my hands down the same way she did. That would drive me insane if that makes any sense. I thought she'd have the same pitched voice in real life, but totally different. Love her character. NEVER A DULL MOMENT!!
I love that they gave Alexis the arc she got ~ one of them needed that unexpected growth ~ Stevie had her moments; but she wasn't the one affected by a life changing bankruptcy -- giving it to Alexis helped balance the cornerstones of the four: Steady Johnny/famed Moira & hilarious Da-vid who hangs in there with family loyalty & gifted with falling in love. Even the motel gets an upleveling with the name & franchise! hahaha Writing was so stellar and us fans can't get enough. Cried thru the last 3 episodes, laughing all the way ... Those endearing Roses ~ just the bouquet I needed for this pandemic! BRAVO
Alexis had the most interesting and unexpected character arc, for me: like some commenters have said, she starts off as a typical, vapid socialite (or so we think), but she channels her confidence and passion into improving herself instead of impressing sheiks and yacht-hopping with celebs. Plus, Dan wrote the scripts brilliantly!! 😍
Spot on I wanted to dislike her but yet she destroyed it.
It’s her sincerity
I love how she shows affection by bopping you on your nose. Love her, love them all. I love how much David lives his food.🤭😎
Best character development in the show. And her stories from her past are so ridiculous 😂
Like totally agree.
“You try parallel parking while wearing a burka!”
I lost it at that one. 😂😂😂

Disagree
The way she tells the stories so casually is flawless
The thing I love about Alexis is that even when she's shallow and self-absorbed, she's still also really sweet and doesn't want to hurt anyone.
Agreed. She was never a bully or mean spirited
Truly a Gemini
If all narcissistic and egocentrical girls had Alexis heart the world would be a better place.
Good point! That was a very full-circle moment, where all of her crazy life experiences ended up helping her lol
Loved her Escape room solving skills. Nothing like putting all those life experiences to use!
It reminded me of the movie Slum Dog Millionaire!
Loved that she was the one who quickly figured it out 😂

That was one of my favorite scenes!

I was so sad when she and Ted split! I get why they did it, but still sad.
The good news is, neither of them ended up with anyone at the end so there’s always the possibility they get back together in their later years 🥰
I often think they end up finding each other at a later time successful and ready to settle down.
I may have consumed a bottle or two of Tequila because of their split.
love all off them

"A Little Bit Alexis" was the best moment in comedy. Ever. Hands down.
Seriously
Absolutely
When she starts la la la la-ing I'm on the floor.
“Hide your diamonds, hide your exes...”
Loved how she went through her mother’s scary wardrobe for her “lawyer” role. That broach is fabulous. Nothing says “terrifying” better than a huge diamond encrusted insect.

"I only stopped to cry like three times while recording this list". I had to pause the video a couple of times because of the tears.
omg me too.
Same!!
Same.
This.
Best character development ever.
I had binge watched the show like several times.
Legally blonde? More like Legally Alexis!!!
I wish she would have a spin off.
"I only had to stop three times to cry.. not a joke" I love this amd support you all the whole way.
I cried with almost everyone of those scenes. Thank you
Angelica Bloomfields of Rose, Bloomfield and Glickman... 😂😂😂 died☠️💀
I love when she winks cause it’s never the right way to wink 😂😂
This is such a Schitty week!!! I LOVE IT!
My favorite Alexis moment...
Everything she does!!! Annie is an awesome actress!
“Yeah, so he’s dead, but the good news is that you’re not.” 😂💀
I know!! Who says that!?🤣🤣
She wasn't that tone deaf, and she did choreo with her singing. I honestly think she could perfectly perform a britney song if needed
Agreed! When the commentator said that, I was like, "da fuck???" Try dancing and singing at the same time. I think she nailed it!
I absolutely love her entire wardrobe in the entire series 😍 I love the bohemian look 😍 ❤
My favorite Alexis moment is when her dad rewrote her paper and she was accused of plagiarizing her paper by her teacher, so she went home to chew her dad out. LMAO!!!
Me too
best character change ever! iconic woman! i loved the scene where she was like "yeah, they're robbing you"
Alexus was my favorite character(all of them are my favorite lets just be real.lol)...watching her transition from season to season was astounding and Annie Murphy was fantastic along with the rest of the cast. Alexus and Ted's dinner at the diner broke my heart but was perfect for both characters.
When she cuts her scrubs off into really short shorts😂🤣
I absolutely love Alexis! She is my fav character and had the best character development on the show.
Omg I’ve never cried as much as I did, or ever for that matter watching a mojo video.
I love Alexis so much I have one her best quotes tattooed on me: Love that journey for me! Even when I’m 70, Alexis Rose and Schitt’s Creek will always have a place in my heart. ❤️ 🌹
"You get murdered first for once!"
One of the best comedy lines ever....
Susan Wenner Seriously 🤣
@@iamTHEchild965 1 of my favs- 4 sure!🤣🤣
KBA 😂😂😂
This show bewitched me.
BRAVO
I could watch this show over and over again. It could’ve gone all the way to 10 seasons
