Hi all. Alarms are a must. E-Bikes are VERY popular lately and easy to sell. There is a great taillight/blinker combo that comes with an alarm, that is very much like Russ has if you don't already have a taillight. Ride save everyone.
I have this alarm on all my bikes , scooter, and bike trailer. Batteries good for a year. Cheap protection.
Agreed. It's inexpensive enough to put on the bike and it's loud enough to get attention.
Hi Russ. Happy 4th. I went for a little bike ride. It is very warm here, but thankfully the breeze while riding was great. I passed a kid’s lemonade stand. Of course I stopped and thank goodness I had three dollars with me. I got a glass of lemonade, a cookie and a small American flag. The flag is now on my ebike! 🇺🇸

I find the best bike security is one of those alarms and a cover for your bike.... Of course lock it but I find that combo is more than sufficient to keep anyone from even thinking about taking your bike.... They'll skip to an easier target. With the cover they don't even know what it is It could be a 20-dollar bike it could be a 10000-dollar bike.. they don't know because they can't see it.... IF they decided to get close enough to look the alarm goes off before they can even get a good look. Yeah They're much more likely to go for easier pickings!

I did my own hill test today. I used just the trottle and went up a long hill. My ebike went over at 11.4 mph. I have a 500w motor and kind of small battery. Oh, I heard cicadas for the first time in our area, this morning.
I have discovered the early morning bike ride. Temperature in low 80s humidity 65%. I can only ride them on my days off. Good ride, Russ happy 4th.

Excellent advice on charging Russ. I always let mine cool down in the shade for at least 30 or 40 minutes after riding to help the cells last longer.
Have you tried Keto or Carnivore diet (Meat and egg) I also mix that up sometimes with fasting and one meal a day but not all the time. So long as you cut out carbs, pasta, rice & bread. When i did this and only ate fresh food and drank loads of water all the inflammation disappeared.
Old Acl injury no pain, blood pressure like a healthy 20 year old not late 50's. The bonus was i also shed so much weight.
If i can do it anybody can do it.
Ps, unsalted roasted cashews and coffee were pretty much my only treats except Sundays.
Sunday was family meet up and let myself have a wine or a few beers but only if I had been good Mon - Saturday
Hey Happy 4th Russ. Glad you used the silicone to eliminate that annoying squeak. I check my BPM on the Apple Watch multiple times a day usually at 70-80 BPM resting, 90-100 on a ebike ride. Nice to have gagits to keep track. I think I'll forgo a ride today going to be 108 degrees, no raining cats and dogs here🤣

I was amazed that I couldn't tell when my heartrate was beating at 160bpm. My fitbit told me it was there and i was at first thinking it was just broken. After a few days, I decided to hook myself up to another type of pulse measurement and it said the same thing, so I went to the doctor and found out I had issues. So not everyone can tell their heartrate is way too high.

My girlfriend and I went for a bike ride to the lake and I was amaze at the number of mid drive bikes that were chained up with those cheap combo cable locks that you can snatch apart. Spend 4-6K for a bike and $7 for a lock for protection?????

Russ what are your thoughts on belt drive E-Bikes ? Personally i prefer a proper chain drive, but was wondering if you have ever tested a belt driven bike.....for me it would feel like riding a washing machine, i had to add some humor it's election day here in the UK forgive me lol

I only put Slime on the very first ebike I bought. Never got a flat on it but don't know if that was because I was lucky or if the slime helped or not. You might consider also a product called Flat Out. Many riders say that it is superior to Slime. As to whether these products work or not is debatable. But I don't think it hurts anything other than it could get messy if you don't do it right. Be sure to tighten the valve after you are done installing.

I see you list the gopro chest mount in your list of items you use, but what gopro model do you suggest using to film like you do?
I have an older GoPro... the Hero 10. The current model I believe is the Hero 12. Never saw the reason to upgrade since the 10 does pretty much what I need it to do. However, the GoPros will overheat with long recording times. What keeps it from shutting off for me is the fact that when I ride, wind blows up agains the camera as I ride. If the camera were stationary and not having wind blowing on it, it will shut down due to thermal issues. I'm not sure if the Hero 12 is better or not in this regard, but hopefully they address this issue. Many (if not all) GoPros suffer from thermal issues.
