We started using your flash cards along with The Waldock ways fifty states curriculum. It has been loads of fun. I put the name of each state on a little piece of paper and put them in a jar so each one of my children can choose one state a week to learn about. So it’s lots of fun for my kids to draw one state out and find out where we are “going” in our 50 states that day. Also using 50 states bingo game that’s fun.
Cycle 3 of Classical Conversations does states and capitals so I'll be studying this with my boys in two years. I will definitely have to remember your flashcards!
Very oddly true that happening to know someone who lives in a particular state or wherever suddenly makes that place familiar & stand out in your memory even if you have no direct personal connection I was barely aware of Tunisia’s existence. But now my brother is stationed there for the military so I’m suddenly very familiar with it. And I’ve learned all these surprising things like how it’s just below Italy where my brother was actually stationed just before, & it has similar Roman structures like amphitheaters & colosseums! It also has similarly beautiful & oasis-like views with the Mediterranean Sea. Originally I would’ve just imagined a very basic African country or even middle-eastern with a lot of dessert & 3rd-world villages, but it seems to be much more European🏝️🏛️🏟️
The thing I’ve noticed is that we moved from a country the same size as the U.S but only 8 states!!! We did sequence one last year and we connected it to travel and ppl!!! I thought more of ppl tho and my kids remembered travelling there!!! We where debating moving to Hawaii when we did it and ended up moving to Hawaii!!! We wrote in ppl we kno!!! We’ve been loving the CC app for states and capitals!!! My kids have been quizzing my friend who served in the U.S army and he’s not doing as well as my kids so they are finding it funny!!! We don’t care if the people are modern famous people!!!
