Hello, I am 30 years old and I have never played an instrument. Recently, a violin came out of the attic and into my life..
After two hours of watching a few of your videos (How To: Tune your violin, 7 Ways to NOT Hit Other Strings & Sound Scratchy on the Violin, Learn To Play The Violin in 1 (one) Hour!! YES - in one whole hour!!!) and trying various things, I am able to play an awful version of something that somewhat resembles Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Haha! I am nothing close to professional but I am very impressed that you were able to teach me how to make a song in less than an hour on an instrument that I have never played. You are a great teacher and I appreciate that you provide lessons for free. Thank you so much!
You are most welcome - good luck on your violin journey! :)
Totally agree with your comments ... Thank you so much for these turoials :)
It’s too late but are you still continuing it?
@@TheOnlineViolinTutor is it possible to learn online only?without going to classes 4 learning please reply
@@annawamugure5354 It's very possible to learn online. Having a teacher with you has it's extra benefits, but these lessons are best lessons I've seen online. Just follow the steps and you're good 😃.
*This still seems hard maybe cause I don't have the violin yet.*
Yes - there is no point whatsoever trying to learn or do anything, unless you have a violin in your hands.
Hmmmm, you might want one!
Same but how much money you spend in a violin
Mee too😔😔😔😔😔
Lmao
21 years of age and finally for the first time ever I am getting my violin tomorrow! I've wanted one for about 6-7 years now and I'm extremely excited and am super ready to bust tail and practice playing as much as I can. This might be your old video and honestly it's my first one of yours that I'm watching but your explanations are super helpful! I can't wait to start this new passion I've been longing for, for so long.
That’s so exciting!!!
Hows learning the violin going?
How has the learning gone??!
It's always sad to see a comment like this and years later when people ask how the progress is going, they dont respond :(
I wanna hear about people succeeding in their passions :(
How's it going? Are you still learning?
as long as you have a human hand, you will be fine

@@budjikxd3756 damn im out lmao 🏃♀️
Sooo how is your progress? Are you able to play the violin now, just curious if I should get one and learn from yt☺️
Can you share your progress after 3 years?
My goal is to learn how to play every instrument just enough for me to have to right to say that I know how to play every instrument. I know how to play the piano, guitar (both electric and acoustic), ukulele and beatbox. Now I'm trying to learn how to play the violin. One day, I'll have all these different instruments laying around the house just waiting for me to play them
that's awesome hahahah
Triangle is quite rewarding!
I used to have the same goal until I noticed I started to become mediocre at everything instead of honing in on a few instruments. I went from 8 instruments to 2, and now after 16 years of piano and 9 years at guitar, just now adding in violin. It's worth being really good at a few instruments than to be mediocre on a lot of instruments.
You'll also find when you hone in on a few all of a sudden people are constantly inviting you to jam sessions, whereas if you're just mediocre at a lot of instruments they'll be impressed at first, then realize you're a beginner at everything.
Just a thought.
Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to know how to play a little of a lot of instruments, but there's nothing quite as rewarding as becoming proficient at a few instruments.
same!! i know how to play the piano the ukulele and the recorder and i kinda know how to play the acoustic guitar so im planning to buy one and be good and then buy an electric one and maybe learn violin
I’ve been dreaming of playing the violin my whole life. Just bought one on amazon and it’s arriving Tuesday! I think I just found my tutor :) will update

I’m 70 and just acquired a violin. I am self taught on guitar, banjo, ukulele, and mandolin.
A traditional player has told me I should know the notes as a violin is tuned the same as the mandolin.
I can pick up a tune by ear in folk sessions and make a fist of playing it or at least fitting in with Irish and Bluegrass tunes.
My next door neighbour aged 5 is getting a violin for Christmas and I’m hoping to keep up with her. Should be fun. I have given some
Rockabilly lessons on guitar to her elder brother and seems to be doing ok.
I’ll post again in a month or so. I want to play Roisin Dubh, Galway Races and Rocky Road To Dublin by Easter.
Take care & keep on rocking.
That's so wholesome
I'm gonna use this as a jumping off point. Im getting a violin tomorrow and its my lifelong dream of 29 years
picked up a violin at a goodwill for $25.00 watched your video and can play twinkle twinkle, amazing grace, you raise me up and the star wars tune and have only had the thing just under a week. never played before love your videos. keep up the good work.

BEFORE ANYONE ELSE comments about how I'm 'talking too much' in this video....please bear in mind that this video is SUPER OLD now as I made it right back when I first started this channel with poor equipment and editing skills and didnt think my channel would now have over 400k subscribers in 2018!
My videos are now so much better with pro video and audio equipment, better editing, faster, slicker and to the point...😀
Even this video is more better than other violinist channels' video
Ok, so I guess you

I can't thank you enough. I played clarinet for 7 yrs, maaany years ago. I decided to try violin (fiddle) because fiddle music was always a big part of my family. I practiced just bowing for a few weeks, 10 -15 min twice a day. Not great, not even good, YET. I wanted to start learning fingering and hit a huge wall. You just showed me how to get over it. I watch several different channels, read alot but you were the first and only one who pointed the following out
To read the music you are looking down the direction of the scrolls. I felt like an idiot! It never occurred to me that I should sit anyway but pretty much head on to the music. I've seen a professional orchestra and the players were sitting sort of sideways but I never thought about the music. Most were wearing skirts and I just thought, as I had drilled into me, knees together and ankles to one side. I don't consider myself to be a complete idiot but after watching this video I may have to reasses that notion. Again, thank you.
There are no words to express my gratitude for ALL the content you have put out! I have been binge watching all of your tutorials and lessons for almost two weeks now, in hopes that one day, I can truly play the violin...without causing excruciating pain to my poor dogs ears! For now, I will give Twinkle Twinkle Little Star a go. Sincerely, THANK YOU!
Hey how's your progress
Thanks a lot Alison for this tutorial. Really helpful and I can now play twinkle twinkle quite comfortably. Also enjoying learning to play my new violin more because of that. God bless you.

I am getting a violin, not sure when exactly but I’m getting one and am trying to learn the basics before getting it. Your lesson has taught me a lot. I hope that I’ll be able to manage
My dad brought me a violin today!! I am soo excited to learn how to play. I am going to watch your whole course and try my best to play everyday. Thank you for your help in advance :)
This is a super violin class thank you very much I'm waiting for my violin to come - so excited :)
I pick up the violin 7 months ago I’m taking an online course with a live professional violinist. Your method simplified a number of things I’m still trying to get ! The bow on the neck at 10 O’Clock was a big help. I never thought of it this way I’m not using those colored stickers but they sure can be a help. The thumb grip on the bow was clearly explained. I always had an issue with that. I’ll look forward to your future videos for beginners !
Thank you so much for this. Picked up the violin this month because I wanted to learn a musical instrument, and even though learning on my own is very overwhelming your tutorial had me from "never played a thing in my life" to "I played a song."
You are a good teacher! I just got my violin. I am going to start this lesson, as soon as I figure out how to tune my violin 😀🤭 Thank you for these lessons!
I’m a third grader and I bought my violin today so I’m very excited 🎉❤😊
For Christmas, I got a violin, I haven’t been really practicing because I got pretty busy until now, now I am trying out this video! So thank you for helping me learn some stuff!
That's pretty impressive.. I bought the violin like an hour back.. Made my own Fret finger placement and was able to do the twinkle twinkle in about 10 mins. Probably because I know the notes in a base and piano.. But this was quite a lot of fun :) Thankyou
it worked for me! First day with a violin in my hands at 62 yo! Thank you from California's Central Coast. Home of the San Luis Obispo Symphony.
Thank you for the great video on getting started on the violin. I already play mandolin and guitar, and just bought a violin to learn to play, as I always admired the fiddlers. Your instructions were very clear and to the point on all the important points, how to hold the bow properly, how to hold and position the violin correctly. Great job!

Hello! Thank you so much for your content. I'm 25 from Oklahoma. Bought an outfit from Fiddlershop last week, and after much reading studying researching up on what the heck I should do to start, today was the first day I've ever picked up a violin, and the first time I (somewhat nicely) played a tune!!! Loved it! Never touched a violin before (intermediate guitar player), and I was playing "Twinkle Twinkle", albeit not perfectly, in 15 minutes!
I wish I picked up the violin years ago , I learned a little electric guitar and acoustic guitar but now in my older age wanting to learn the violin , amazing beautiful tunes that it produces has now got me looking to purchase and play and above all have fun with it.
You can learn how an instrument works in an hour, but it takes years to be able to play well
I agree.
