Thank you for posting. First time seeing such a close adaption of the actual play. RJ and Natalie were wonderful. It is a shame that we can't see this quality of work on TV anymore.
Watching this has sparked my interest in this movie which I have never watched. Now I know what to do tomorrow! Thank you for showing it, Natalie Wood acted so well, what a shame she passed away so young.
This has got to be one of Natalie Wood's best performances. This version sticks to the original play by Tennessee Williams, and explains everything better than the Elizabeth Taylor film. Thank you for posting.
I think this is a decent, but not a great version of this soapy play. Natalie Wood is just breathtaking as Maggie. There is no doubt in my mind that Maggie will eventually get what she wants because of her strength of character and determination.
Well, if Brick won't do it, maybe she can get with that "handsomest man at the party for the New York cousins" - the one who tried to do her in the Powder Room. Or maybe she can give Big Daddeh a REAL "gift", sometime, when Big Momma is having to watch Goopuh and Mae's No-neck Monsters singing. In any event, 28 thousand acres would be worth 84 million of today's Dollars - in addition to the "cash and stocks". So, we're talking about a fortune of at least a hundred million, in today's Dollars. Surely, Brick & Maggie'll get ten percent, even if Goopah and Mae and the No-neck Monsters get most of it. Five million (and again, I'm adjusting for inflation, and deducting inheritance tax) will give them fifty thou a year (one percent true capital growth is about all anyone can really hope for). That's enough, if they drive used Cadillacs, and live in an unwanted mansion in some dying little town.
I read all of the comments below. Some of the negative comments are understandable and I preferred the version with Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman; however, I thoroughly enjoyed this adaptation. I did not care for the way this version ended. Sort of unclear whereas the Taylor/Newman version was quite clear.
wagner-so boring so 1 dimensional. natalie probably only agreed to do this if they hired wagner. she probably was trying to save the marriage by working together cause wagner couldnt get jobs on his own
I think we're supposed to be kept in suspense, which sucks. Actually what Brick needs to do, is go down to the Greenville (or Greenwood, or Clarksdale, or up to Memphis, or down in Jackson, or on a weekend trip to the amazing one in Mobile....) YMCA. Back then, star ath-uh-letes and family men would go there, and have wild times with other fellas - the best-looking and "most manly" men in town - the athletes, former athletes, cops, firemen - and none of it counted, because they were "manly men" and didn't talk about it. As homophobic as it is now, the 'Y' was the opposite, back then - according to my grandfathers. Tennessee Williams, even LIVED in one YMCA, if I remember correctly (which may explain why he looked so good - for a cigarette-smoking alcoholic with greasy hair, anyway). Maybe 'Tenn' lifted weights, between tricks. Anyway, such men would get their batteries charged at the 'Y', which would give them something to think about, while they 'performed their duties' with their wives. If Maggie can just turn the lights off, and SHUT UP, then maybe Brick will be able to complete the act.

mendacity is the course of the human soul
The worst interpretation of ' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof', in particular Robert's performance, Natalie Wood was okay.
Robert Wagner made that character so bland
I hate Maggie.
