Tithing has a way of softening the heart over time. When I started to tithe many years ago, it was very difficult to give away “my money.” I would drop it in the offering basket and say “God I am giving this money to you in faith.” I had a knot in my stomach but managed to be consistent in my giving. Over time I learned that giving can be something you do with a joyful heart. God’s ways do not always make sense to the human mind. Although they ALWAYS show themselves to be true and right on target in time., If you are willing to trust Him at His Word.

    I’m Wiccan
    I worship a Goddess and a God
The Mother guides, the Father provides
    My Goddess agrees with generosity
If you walk in love, kindness and compassion you are always where you’re meant to be no matter where you are.
I also walk amongst get the trees. A tree spirit told me to go into accounting, when I asked what I could do to support my family. It’s an occupation as old as time.
I’ve learned that money is like a mirror that exploits who people really are, and that’s why people think money is evil… Unless you’re generous.
If you want to know where someone’s heart is, watch what they spend money on and how much.
When your heart is set on things money cannot buy, you simply won’t know what to spend it on and it stays saved in an account. That’s the key.
    Be content with little.
There’s not a person, place, or thing that can make you feel happy or loved. That’s a journey which comes from within. I learn a lot from my faith.
Money doesn’t buy the feel of grass under your feet, the birds singing in the trees, or the warm sun and shade of a tree. It doesn’t buy the full heart you can build to be a gift in the lives of others.
People these days don’t need more money. People these days need to know everything they’ve ever needed was from within themselves all along.
People need to know they’re valuable and that their life matters, and they have the opportunity to be the change they want to see through genuine altruism.
I’m no Christian but Dave, I love you man.

Tithing is a minimum and is mostly an old-testament concept. The New Testament teaches giving, which has no limits. It also teaches faith in that God will provide. In reality we don't need to wait until we are wealthy to give to others. We ask God and give out of the abundance of what God has given to us.

A black hole results from a star that has “given away” it’s energy to the point that it collapses. So there’s that.
Also, there’s a supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. The “glory” of that black hole is that it “gives” our galaxy its properties, which also influences the habitability of the earth.

The Bible must be interpreted in the time in which it was written. In that time, the Levitical Priests ran the storehouse (or treasury) for the nation of Israel. That scripture says that everyone pays a tenth or “tithe” of income to the nation in taxes. This applies to everyone in the country, believer or unbeliever. However, the principal of generosity and thanksgiving is a true principal. Giving to the Church is a legitimate function, but God does not bless us because we give, but because we have the spiritual maturity and capacity to receive blessings from God. We have a mental attitude of generosity from the capacity of life through God’s Word.

Tithing is a old testament practice that did not involve money but giving 10% of their crops or animals to the temple as a sacrifice to God (2nd Chronicles 31:4-5). Modern prosperity preachers have twisted God's word on this topic to guilt trip you into giving them a percentage of your income, something the bible doesn't teaches. Involving money, we can give to God any amount we choose (2nd Corinthians 9:7 and Acts 5:1-4).

There is a flaw in your logic. Not being a giver/generous does not make one necessarily miserable or miserable to be around. I am not saying that people should not be generous if that is what they wish to do, but tying that act or characteristic in any way with thinking it will allow them to prosper is false logic. I don't "give" but neither do I act in a miserable manner towards others...in fact, at this pt, I money isnt my motivating factor for doing my job best I can...yes I still need to work for a few more years, but my efforts are not done to get promotions or more money, merely to put out good work and maintain a solid rep. So people need to be very careful about what you are saying....I think it comes from a good intention, but I also think it can lead to a lot of false assumptions.
